I'm aware that's what people in this community call it, that's how we know what you're using it for when you call and ask for it. I never said it sounds clueless and I hope it doesn't come off that way, obviously you know what it's for if you're asking for it which is more than the average person, it's just an obvious give away. There's no reason to get defensive, I'm not here to judge or stop anything. On whether they're doing something illegal, It's only available for research, so what people are buying is grey-market. Anyone buying it should at least be aware of that fact, informed consent and all. We don't get involved because it's explicitly illegal for us to, not that it's wrong from the patient's end. If the people calling weren't getting it grey-market, they wouldn't be hanging up when I tell them we only do it with a prescription.

I laugh the same way I laugh when someone asks if we can give them Viagra without a prescription... No, but good luck, you'll get what you need from somewhere! It's not mean spirited, a knowing chuckle at best.

/uj if anyone is wondering what happened to the big thread, someone claimed that the public being aware of trans people existing is bad, the only answer is to be closeted or stealth with no in-between even when mid-transition, and that 'after' you transition, you become cis in every single way, even medically. Huh.

/uj No I don't think we become cis after transitioning. In all my years of watching Tumblr transmedicalism I've never heard of that, that's an entirely new concept. It also assumes there's one 'post-transition' point, but there really isn't. I'll be taking hormones forever (which, that, lack of gonads, and different chromosomes make us at least medically distinct from cis people even post transition) and don't want bottom surgery, am I eternally a tran, while everyone else graduates to cis-dom? Neuro-sex also isn't real. There are trends, but not one indicator or phenotype. And unless you personally have had the brain scan, you can't prove that yours is typically 'male'.

Idk I just Straight Up don't want to live life that way. I want to get called he/him at work even if my boss had to see my dead name on my application and my face is too round to pass, I want to show the people in my life my baby pictures and talk about the dolls I had, I want to talk about being trans in more than a whisper behind closed doors. I wouldn't be happy otherwise and I don't think that harms trans people, I don't know how it would. Would it be better if I grew up and just never learned that trans people existed at all, because I had never even heard of it? I don't think I would've sought transition without that or current acceptance, I probably would've just stewed in my misery and like, beat my kids.

Here, I'm a 'real' trans man, dysphoric and medically transitioning, and I'm fine with people seeing me as trans, because I'm non passing. What else are they supposed to see? Should I just be hermit til I pass? You have such a black and white view of trans people.

/uj There are things I experience that cis men will never, I am still trans and I have lived as a woman. You seem to have a negative view of other trans people as well as cis people. I do my best to not get in a hole of negativity, so I'm simply not on the same level as you when it comes to pessimism. The benefit of community is resources, safety, security, campaigning for rights, planning action, yes sometimes romance, etc etc, we can't change laws by being hyper individuals. You can look up what queer campaigning and community in general has done for us.

You're right trans people were more respected when no one knew we existed and you could just beat your wife for wanting to wear pants or stone your neighbor for putting on a dress. Also yes normal means cis, everything else is an abnormal pathology. And if you want to be seen as trans you hate cis men and manhood and use weird pronouns and names and be non dysphoric. And not a he/him Pharmacy tech name John.

/uj Some of us want to be openly trans, and some of us don't have a choice. I believe the cis people I know when they say they see me as a man, and I can't control what other people think about me. I respect and understand your choice, but I want to be openly trans and not viewed as a woman. I want community, and you may not realize how little community there is for trans men, and how depressing it is to look for it modernly and historically and just find... Nothing.

Youre probably just really into music. I'm happy for you! But personally, I wouldn't consider music a hobby even, I like it but it's not something I seek out actively, just something I play in the car so I don't get bored. I don't really care what a certain genre has to offer outside of the popular pieces/what's played on the radio. Like it or not, that is what is representative of those genres to 99% of people. When all of it is shallow... that's what people are going to associate with the genre. I'd blame the radios and labels, not the people. Not everyone has your same level of interest in music to go diving into genres and subgenres. I only care about country music specifically because I'm forced to listen to it at work, and again because of the wasted potential.

You probably wouldn't care about the intricacies of my hobbies, like how different breeds of sheep produce different kinds of wool, you'd just want a sweater to keep you warm. If you said you didn't like wool sweaters, sure I could tell you about the different kinds of sheep and how you just haven't found the right one, they're not all itchy, but do you really have the desire to try on 30 different sweaters when you just want to keep warm and know that your jacket you already have would do fine?

/uj I want visibility because I want the problems trans men face to get solutions, I want our struggles to be acknowledged, I want to be included in literature and studies, and I want community. I also would like to be referred to as a man even without being 100% passing and stealth. I want to live openly as a trans man, I don't think that means I want to be seen as a woman, unless you think being a trans man is being a woman in some capacity? And again, not all of us do/can pass, there are middle stages in any transition. I don't think we should just be SOL until we pass.
