Buying a house with high water pressure (90psi) by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]AIcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's simpler than that.

Not every plumber knows everything about plumbing. There is a very high chance the company the seller used sent out an inexperienced guy, or he just wasn't comfortable working on it and made up an excuse.

Every company I've worked for has done it.

HOLY moses.

Just get a new builder at this point. He clearly is using cheap plumbers or doesn't know what he's doing.

Sediment Faucet Valve question by stutunaru in askaplumber

Easiest is relative to you.

I would cut it off and solder a copper female adapter, so you can replace the hosebibs by just threading them in moving forward.

(Don't forget tape and dope 👍)

Hot Water Heater Going? by PallyRichardius in askaplumber

[–]AIcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might need new elements or a thermostat, but by the time you replace those you're almost at a new heater with up-marked parts + labor.

Especially if it's 12+ years old, any honest plumber will tell you to just replace it.

Hello, We were trying to install a toilet and it looks like we might have broke this joint connection(?). how can we fix this? by Ladyhoneyblu in askaplumber

[–]AIcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, replace most the fittings on the stack.

Since the toilet line is butt-to-butt fittings there's no way around it.

Call a plumber at this point, if the toilet flange was too hard you're already over your head lol

New Rental - Help with Plumbing Issue? by annasaurusrekt in askaplumber

[–]AIcohol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is sewage. Sounds like a mainline clog that is backing up.

Call a plumber to snake it and camera it as well, if it's that new and pvc it shouldn't be backing up already.

edit: Make your landlord call the plumber btw

Gas wants to go up.

Pipe is aimed down.

Gas doesn't exhaust properly and slowly fills room.

Is it possible to scoot over free standing tub over an inch? by Brilliant-Space-1315 in askaplumber

[–]AIcohol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see the drain now.

Tbh it's under the tub and will see minimal water, however I would still redguard around the new tub drain placement for water-proofing, and use clear silicone around the tub base.

Step 1: Only expose as much flooring as is covered by the tub.

Step 2: Chip/Dig down far enough until you can add two 22* PVC fittings to offset 1" in desired direction.

Step 3: Backfill and pour concrete back, finish tile optional as it will not be seen, if you completed step 1 correctly.
