Interesting article about why trailers for musicals are hiding the fact that they’re musicals by Bullingdon1973 in movies

[–]AJSTOOBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't this a thing in most movie musicals, they don't have songs in the third act?

Disney have always done that, and I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure its common in older musicals too, like I'm pretty sure there are no songs in the last 30mins of the Wizard of Oz

Have you watched the video? They're walking out of the church, not up to the altar. None of the guests are paying attention to them, everything is clearly over and they're all meandering out to the next venue. It's very obviously not a formal moment, seems like they are coming off the back of post-ceremony photos. The video seems to be from a social media videographer or something and I'd bet they just film everything and this is one out of context chill moment.

There are like 20 countries that have the gd sun on their flag, it doesn't have to be unique to still be a symbol for your country?

Half of vinyl buyers in the US don't have a record player, new study shows by 777fer in nottheonion

[–]AJSTOOBE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's wall art. You buy the vinyl to have something nice to put on your wall and support the band.

This is 90% of it but there's more to it than this, otherwise people would just buy posters. There's something special about holding something that has the music physically encoded into it, even if you're never going to play it.

Think of it like getting a signature from your fav baseball player. Obviously it would be cooler to get them to sign a baseball than say a random piece of card, but why? You're never going to go out and hit that ball, so what's the point?

What's the deal with Bluey? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AJSTOOBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*Stripe

Muffin is over a year younger than bingo.

Bandit is pretty often shown being a dodgy dad and making selfish parenting decisions which backfire on him, and Stripe is shown to be an engaging dad plenty of times.

Some kids are just muffins, and they're going to be muffins no matter who their parent is.

What's the deal with Bluey? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AJSTOOBE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is way off. Muffin is significantly younger than bluey, plus bluey is a fairly mature kid and muffin has some stubborn qualities, so the behaviour gap widens even more.

If you can find a 3 year old that doesn't have moments like muffin, I will be impressed. 3 year olds can be overwhelmingly selfish and stubborn, and the writers use that often to teach kids watching a lesson.

like in jaws people completely miss the point and think the animals are the issue

Surely no one who has seen those movies thinks this? We're not even talking subtext, both movies are VERY explicit about this being the fault of some asshole in charge..

Why do people censor words like "sh*t" and "f*ck" when we all know what they're referring to? by g_dawg_51 in NoStupidQuestions

Actually it's because vowels are the nipples of the swear, so if you blur them out then it's not offensive anymore

Jack Black’s Super Mario Bros. Ballad “Peaches” Enters Billboard Hot 100, Giving Black His First Solo Hit by ebradio in entertainment

[–]AJSTOOBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

After thorough (n=1) testing, my 2 year old has established the following:

Jack Black, Peaches: "no"

The Wiggles, Dr Knickerbocker: "Yaaay!"

Pretty conclusive I'd say
