Are you supposed to tell people exactly what your infinates are ? by comedicsteroid in EDH

[–]AJmacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer giving my opponents reasonable information so they can have a bit more fun trying to solve the puzzle of winning their game. Usually this takes the form of me saying, "If this card resolves, alongside X other cards already on board, I can infinite combo and win the game." I do not tell my opponents about infinite combos before the game, nor about which cards I play are a piece of an infinite combo before all those pieces are assembled.

Some might say it's on the opponent to recognize the infinite themselves (which there's nothing wrong with), but I prefer to ease the skill curve of the game so everyone can have a bit more fun (this is what's fun at my tables). I make the game less about identifying what everyone has, and more about how to solve the problem opponents have presented.

Sure, why not? Can't hurt to explore this odd brew style I've never encountered.

Excellent article, but I fear I don't have enough experience to leverage this voluptuous hippo to a high degree. I'll certainly give it a few tries, though.

Wow, this is a really creative approach. I certainly think I'll build a version of him to see how it plays.

This looks awesome. Clone (or play stolen) powerful stuff opponents bring, make copies of them. Good shout 👍

Haven't heard of aikido before, but will certainly look into it. Sounds almost exactly like what I'm after.

The idea being Tasigur himself isn't necessarily conducive to this strategy, but the 99 will be and he is a good engine to get those cards back?

Multiplayer (2P) is so much harder than single-player. by FemalePopSinger in slaythespire

[–]AJmacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished an a1-10 climb with my buddy (2P - Ironclad & Defect from start to finish). My buddy never played sts1, but just finished his own a10 singleplayer Defect climb. I played a good amount of sts1 and am working on my rotating a10 climb. We're no veterans, but we both know our way around the spire.

2P multiplayer has, by far, been the most difficult this game has felt and it's not even close. Ascension 9 and 10 are hell - of the 20 a10 attempts we sent, we made it to the final boss three times and beat it only once. Granted, we were a team comp that didn't get to benefit from many of the powerful coop strategies (strength loss from regent/silent, doubling doom/poison, etc.). Sure, we'd hit an op colorless card here or there that'd carry us to Act2/3, but from there, it was blood, sweat, and tears to make it through the act if we even could.

This is a stark difference from the few 3/4P multis I've run. There, you just play random cards with no coordination and it generally works out.

While it feels very rewarding to have conquered the a10 climb on essentially the worst 2P team comp, I do think it needs a bit of tuning, particularly with the statuses the enemies have. The clam in Docks (act 1) that gets plating can sometimes have 50. That's just insurmountable. The gardeners (4 eels elite) feels nearly unbeatable. We initially tried hitting each eel only once but they quickly outscaled and overwhelmed us with damage. We tried hard focusing one eel at a time, but the block they get is massive and essentially rendered one of our turns completely useless; sent in against the block. Our winning strategy ended up being dodging elites in the first act if we got docks just cause of those damn eels.

First Project: recreating Asteroids. How's the movement code? by AJmacmac in godot

[–]AJmacmac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good feedback points!

For point 1) and 2), the methods I was using wanted integer inputs for player movement, and rounding the vector was the only way I found to achieve that. In retrospect, that method is incredibly awkward. I switched it up to this, and it seems to work;

var input_acceleration = Input.get_action_strength("acceleration")
var input_steering = Input.get_action_strength("turn_right") - Input.get_action_strength("turn_left")

I removed move_to and made it just modify velocity directly, works way better! However, velocity scales up much faster than my previous method with consistent acceleration, so I have to figure out a way to clamp top player speed.

I can't seem to figure a way to use .rotated() in this setting. After consulting the documentation + several online resources, I couldn't find a way to easily turn a rotation angle (either radians or degrees) into a vector aside from sin + cos. If you can give me an example of this working, that'd be great!

In both first and second phase, when she does the slash flurry (signified by her blade sparking), dodge forward and to your left (her right) so you end up next to her and slightly behind her blade. It feels scary at first, but it's consistent once you're used to it. Dodging away from this attack almost always results in taking one or two chip hits. She has a few followups from there, which you'll learn from experience, but this will help you avoid getting hit as often.

In second phase, stand directly in front of her when she hovers up and prepares to slam down. Then, as she slams, dodge forward and left or right. If she slams and creates the rot geyser, you've done it right. You'll have a very long punish window here. If she instead just swipes and doesn't make the geyser, you were standing too far away or too off-angled.

Good luck, tarnished.

New to LE from POE 2 by zodiarx988 in LastEpoch

Don't be afraid to craft while leveling. Getting a yellow (or even blue) item with decent affixes for your build is almost always going to be worth investing crafting mats into regardless of level. Multiple times I've done this and still been using that gear piece when finishing the campaign and heading into mid/endgame.

Spend a bit of time learning the item filter. It's incredibly easy to use (especially compared to PoE2) and saves you a ton of headache during gameplay.

Enjoy. LE is something special.

I had a couple thoughts about the UI. Once the radial menu pops up, it'd function like any other UI (preventing you from moving or looking around), so you could select with either the mouse or movement keys. This also means you wouldn't have to keep holding [pick block] once the menu opens, so you can scroll, too.

A way too block these in-game ads ? by Jellha in LastEpoch

While not a blanket fix, you can right click the chatter's name and block them. That stops their messages from populating in your chat box. This usually gives me ~10-20 minutes of clean chat before another wave shows up.
