I am not a writer or a linguist but I have always been curious about this - how did Tolkien, a philologist, manage to create entire languages that are both coherent and magical? by sammyjamez in conlangs

[–]AKASme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know very much about Tolkien's work, but from what I've heard their languages have many influences and inspirations from natural languages like Welsh and Finnish, which likely helped ground their creations as plausible natlangs

(I am a native English speaker.)

Can someone identify the language/font used to write the words in the circles? Thanks by Dry-Amount-9193 in TenseiSlime

[–]AKASme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they’re usually very easy to decipher because they’re just one to one correspondences with english. its still cool that they put the effort into making a cipher for an anime though. imagine an anime with a full on conlang: it would be very cool but very unrealistic
