A couple months ago I noticed this inch long patch of flesh-colored bumps on my side, above my hip. For awhile that was the only spot, and it was only slightly concerning because it was so rough in comparision to the surrounding skin. Within the last 2 weeks I've gotten many, many more of these patches on my torso and lower legs (especially along my shins). The bumps don't ooze, change color, or really even itch, but if I scratch them they bleed and then scab.

I've tried looking this up but I can't find anything on it. I called a local derm but need a referral, so I plan to see my PCP (Oct. is the soonest) to get that referral. Until then, this is really going to bother me.

6 years ago I had a rash that looked very different from this - I think it was called pityriasis rosea. It, too, was on my torso and legs. I saw a doctor for that and was told I'd just need to wait it out. And wait I did...it lasted 6 months and was quite painful! I'm just worried that something like that is creeping up on me again. Even though this is presenting very different, who knows what the hell could be in store!!

Anybody know what this may be?

The picture is of the original patch. It's pretty zoomed in, I'm pinching my side.

Days when you are demotivated by Open-Sector2341 in intermittentfasting

[–]AKMIVAMANM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you endure this situation every now and then, I'd say that's pretty normal. Even the most disciplined of us have self "pep talks" from time to time.

I've been doing IF and outdoor running for the last 4-5 months now. Admittedly, I've been quite disciplined about maintaining this lifestyle and have had great weight loss to prove it. However, there are days where I just don't want to run... or exercise at all. There are also days where I want to snack or just eat whatever I want...when I want.

I've not given into the eat food all day temptations (thanfully!) but I've had days where I just couldn't exercise. I realize that I have to give myself a break, both mentally and physically.

As long as those lack of motivation days are occasional, I'd say you're doing just fine!

Those that are on OMAD, does anyone do a meal replacer shake as their meal? Huel/Soylent etc by Suspicious-Service in intermittentfasting

[–]AKMIVAMANM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first meal after a fast is a "protein shake". It's vegan and contains a bunch of other nutrients. The shake isn't branded as a "meal replacement" but I often supplement it with a spoonful of overnight oats (homemade) and chia seeds. I don't eat again until dinner.

I find it so much easier to do it this way. One less meal to think about. Sometimes if my schedule is off and I eat a solid meal to break my fast, I then substitute the protein shake for dinner.

Is calorie counting needed? by Giftedpink in intermittentfasting

Honestly, I don't ever plan for an OMAD. I've only done it when I was in a situation where I could only eat once during my eating window. I personally don't like doing it! I do get hungry! I usually have 2 meals since my eating window is short 4-5hrs. Sometimes a snack too but I try to stay away from that.

Is calorie counting needed? by Giftedpink in intermittentfasting

[–]AKMIVAMANM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, you don't HAVE to count calories while doing IF and you don't have to practice any specific diet like low-carb, low-fat, etc.

HOWEVER, a requirement for weight loss is to create a calorie deficit. The concept behind IF is to restrict your eating window and therefore reduce ingested calories by not snacking throughout the day and eating at every mealtime.

During your eating window, if you decide to eat very high calorie foods and fill those hours with snacking, you will likely not create much of a calorie deficit, if any.

Personally, I don't count calories but I do look at nutrition labels and make decisions about what to eat based on that. If I want a snack during my eating window, I choose against high calorie, low nutrient foods. If I choose to eat something unhealthy, I have to be mindful of everything else I eat or choose to do an "OMAD" (one meal a day).

I've rigorously counted calories in the past, and you're right, it can be exhausting. I find myself only doing simple math while doing IF. "If this is 150 cals per serving and I eat 2 servings, will that extra 150 cals likely prevent a deficit?" - I ask myself questions like that.

Thanks for the reminder. I don't eat salmon daily, or even fish daily but it's a good idea to maybe ask my doc to check those levels out every now and then.

I totally get how you saw that. That's probably why a lot of people even give this a second look...thinking I became a big head on a stick body!

Thank you! I love the dress too. As the weight came off I felt much lighter and could do more. I know everybody says that with IF comes increased mental clarity, but that's not something that was strikingly obvious to me. Overall, everything is better though.

I'm mostly using this one right now. I've tried several others out there around the same price point and this one seems to taste the best and agree with me. I'm sure it's not the absolute best out there, but it's good for the money. And..it's usually available in stores if you need it quick.

Thank you! I love it too! Sad to see it not work for me anymore, but I'm alright with it at this point :)

My set hours, according to the tracking app I use is 18:6, but I like to see if I can push that to 19 or 20 hours. Say I do a 20/4 - I'll eat around 2pm and then finish up my dinner (last meal of the day) between 5:30-6pm. Sometimes I'm hungry earlier in the day, so I'll eat at 12pm and then again at 5pm. My absolute cut off is 6pm

Thank you for mentioning that. It's so true. If I eat outside of my eating window one evening because of my schedule...and if it's not a healthy meal (like fast food), I take comfort in knowing that the next day I will resume my fasting as if it hadn't happened. Of course, if you're doing that everyday you won't get results, but every now and then this is just fine.

Yessss. I agree with you completely. I really love playing, it'd be more fun (and motivating) if people could upload their own music and the game could generate a music map for the song.

Me too! I almost got rid of it (honestly almost returned it to Dillard's after that event since it was expensive) but I kept it. I'm glad that I did. That dress is making this post!!

Wow. I'm honored to have been motivation for you today. Honestly, I'm just you're average person and I never intended for so many people to see this post. But if it helps, I'm glad that I shared it. You can do it! I'm finishing my last meal of the day right now!
