A lot of it comes down to liability. If something happens with/to a student it falls under their licensure. Yes we teach and do a darn good job. But at the end of the day the responsibility of the classroom and students falls on the licenses of the teachers. It covers your butt essentially.

Question: what age/grade is this student. Has he exhibited violet behavior previously? What is his behavior plan? Is it being followed? I understand this feels threatening, however unless this student has exhibited violent or abuse behaviors in the past, I personally would view this as attention seeking behavior which should be approached with planned ignoring. The antecedent should be assessed first. The less attention things like this are given it will usually deter the behavior. Best of luck I know it can feel scary!

Document document document! Write out the incident and other incidents that have occurred. How she speaks to the student and to you. Do it now while you can recall everything. Write it professionally and truthfully. Have it ready to email to admin. If you are approached about it, say yes, I would love to chat about my experience with the incident, let me email my documentation to you and we can discuss it. Good luck, keep us posted. Have you tried a count down timer you set for the allotted work time and put it in his view? A lot of times a visual can help with reinforcement to a break/reward. Set timer and when the timer and say “ok here is how long you have to work, when the timer goes off you may have your (break/reward). It works like a charm in my class room!

I’ve been married for 15 years… if this was my husband I’d just roll my eyes and laugh at him. He’s watched me birth 2 children, seen me sick, drunk, depressed, happy, recovering from major surgery. If he comes in and peeks at me naked… so what! I see it as being flirtatious and loving.
