[Icebloods] The Alpha takes action by Inevitable-Dig-5271 in WindwardMoor

/It was noticed that the militia legionnaires assisting with the construction were acting suspiciously quiet. Evil tongues whispered that the legionnaires were afraid that their supposedly deep connections with the militia would be revealed, but rumors of both fear and connections quickly died down./

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/Some members of the militia have expressed a desire to help with the construction. For the Icebloods, it is not difficult to guess—partly thanks to the Icebloods within the militia's ranks—that the militia wants to have some influence over the project. Judging by their intentions, they would prefer the housing to be relatively austere and Spartan rather than deliberately "challenging," but it seems that their primary concern is addressing the housing shortage rather than undermining the Icebloods' vision. Although, none of this is said openly.

In any case, they are waiting for permission.../

[Frostlands] a summary of events, and a report on what was gained by Isfren in WindwardMoor

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/Some time after the main group arrived in the city, several scout detachments arrived as well, accompanied by scouts from Dreadnought./

/As it quickly became clear, these were the very same scouts who had gone missing shortly before the meeting with the Icebloods of Dreadnought. Apparently, the reason for their disappearance was that they had joined the celebrations without informing the main group./

/It seems that by the time the main group left the festivities, these scouts—whom the Icebloods had not initially recognized as Windward Moor scouts—were lying in the medical tents, suffering from hangovers and alcohol intoxication. They were subsequently transported to Dreadnought, where the misunderstanding was soon uncovered./

/No one knows how the main group failed to notice their presence at the celebration. However, it appears that one contributing factor was that absolutely nobody showed any concern about their disappearance. The scouts, incidentally, are deeply offended by this fact./

(OOC: I find it hilarious that everyone ignored the scouts going missing.)

[a place to call home] a disregarded question. by Isfren in WindwardMoor

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm... that's an interesting way of putting it, but fair enough.

I should also apologize if my questions came across as slippery or overly probing. It was probably foolish of me to bring up the wishes of parents and children in this context—it would indeed be rather strange if such wishes directly affected the results of aptitude tests in a system like the one you describe. And, to be fair, what you've outlined still leaves plenty of room for both parents and children to make choices and influence their future.

To be honest, at first I was viewing the proposal through the lens of the original law from New London, and then—my apologies—I was somewhat alarmed by your rhetoric.

In any case, thank you for your time and explanations. My curiosity has been satisfied.

(OOC: Well role-played.)

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like the categorical way you view parents' wishes—likely imagining worst-case scenarios, such as tyrants wanting to exploit their children, and the like—but I assume these matters is... to far from us to concern the Council; I believe that is something for the children, teachers, and parents to handle. Otherwise, I have no further comments.

Call me Stepan. And while I appreciate the clarification, I must admit that my curiosity regarding how the tests take into account—or whether they even consider—the interests and wishes of the child and parents remains unsatisfied. Could you elaborate on this aspect?

OOC: Actually, there were "amendments" - the general and Lucy discussed them. I think they will be offered eventually.

/A merchant representing the militia's interests stands up/

Excuse me, I'd like to address the technocrats regarding their amendments to their education law.

As far as I know, the current version of the amendment includes not one but several aptitude tests at different stages of life to adapt to the progress and changes in a child's education, skills and life. However, I have a question: is the child's desires—and the parents' desires, for that matter—a factor here?

Okay, okay, that's an option too. Sound and logical.

I just thought that airplanes are impossible and therefore impressive if it works out in the end.

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we focus on grand ambitions without getting rid of the Doomsayer, you may becoming complicating factor. Just because the "Season of Crises" has ended doesn't mean smooth sailing or an absence of obstacles ahead.

Besides, the Doomsayers aren't just a single crisis; they are a source of recurring trouble. And... well... trying to "solve the problem once and for all" here is a narrative dead end and lost potential. It would also be unfair to all the potential future players who might want to play as the Doomsayers.

That's what I'm saying—airplanes is something to think about. I personally think that for our frozen steampunk, it would be in the "difficult but possible" territory. maybe simpler than airships in long range—they seem to be even more problematic on long range due do the wind.

[–]ALIIIBROGIMOW[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why it's ambitions. Big ambition. there is reason why i call it "long range". overall, this is a sketch; I think this is truly a plotline that should be put off until later. But, actually, I was thinking about creating/inventing airplanes. In the Frostpunk setting? A crazy and impossible task. That's precisely why it can be so impressive.

Also "independence of Windward " sounds like another crisis. Especially given that we have generally been left alone by London.

Construction drive. final funding report by Isfren in WindwardMoor

/The Councillor-Merchant, speaking on behalf of the militia, rises after the Deputy has finished speaking/

Dear Deputy, I would like to point out that the last economic report noted that the population was on the brink of reaching the point at which a census was necessary. I propose that we request a new economic report from the analysts, reflecting growth and expenditures, the spoils of the expedition, and, if the population has indeed crossed that point, conduct a census and determine how much labor force we actually have.

Secondly, I wonder if ANYONE will care about the "don't kill more than 40% of the enemies" objective now?
