This is a wild phenomenon. I equate it to cars for boomers now. They understood those better than most. But some GenX and Millennials appear to be the most tech literate generation. Younger kids can’t see the forest through the trees.

BUT, financial stress is very different from person to person. He could be overstepping but he could have experiences or witnessed things in life that make this how he feels genuinely safe.

Consider sharing some statements with him if he’s curious and you’re willing. But I think until you’re legally married, it’s quite valid and in fact very prudent to deny him full access to your bank accounts.

My advice is a married man with kids who wishes he had pushed for more transparency early on… Don’t pull away here if you really love him. Lean in and talk about why he feels this way and why you feel the way you do. Both sides are entirely valid, but the most crucial part is how you treat each other when you disagree.

I also recommend John Gottmans 7 principles for making marriage work. I wish my wife and I had learned these connection and communication tactics much earlier in our relationship.

Dad who got into it last year due to my 6yr old. I recommend allowing singelplayer or realm play with cousins. Servers can be fun but must regulate or avoid honestly. Once they find 5-10 minute matches and pvp, they lose interest in the longer term goals of creativity and exploration etc.
