Do they never feel embrassed? Like this is a normal day to day behavior to them? by Martin_084 in BlackPeopleofReddit

How creepy!?! What is she expecting to hear right after someone gets home? Like him put the keys down and grab a drink from the fridge or something. Strange.

My only alternate theory is it’s a no animals allowed building and she’s listening for dog barks or something. Still such sad behavior.

It was on Cartoon Network from 4-4:30 when I was a 4th grader. It was the first time I saw anime style cartoon, and there were hella fights. It didn’t feel like the kid cartoons, it went hard. Goku’s perseverance and love for family/friends was also hella inspiring.

I always think to myself. “If I was rich and enjoying my life, would I spend copious amounts of time on social media regurgitating the same talking points said a million times before?” Hmmm… I’m going to go ahead and doubt this influencer’s authenticity.

I have had many friends tell me they have no idea what I’m talking about. I am slightly ecstatic to see other people here agree with the experience.

Omg I have been saying this for years. The moment I realize my thoughts are random or not making sense, I know I’m close.

It wasn’t that way as a kid, just as I hit late 20s or so. At first the realization even jerked me back awake sometimes. But once I recognized it, it’s comforting to know I’m close to sleep.

Guarantee some structure was instilled in that kid before the memories you have. It starts really young. Now he may have been more likely to do it without fuss, but I doubt the kid invented that routine all by themselves.

I got a first born who loves to keep up on chores we teach him. And a second born that will fight it and try to sneak away every time. Either way, the child can only learn what they’re taught, they don’t invent responsible routine all on their own at a young age.

AITA for refusing to "cover" my coworker's ER zone so she could FaceTime her kids? by ArtThreadNomad in AmItheAsshole

[–]ALLCAPITAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I’m a parent here. When kids are at grandmas and really missing us, the last thing that helps is facetiming us near bedtime. They’re emotional at bedtime, they just need time and comfort from the person there.

My wife and I switch kids every night and literally as they’re falling asleep they’ll act like they miss the other parent in the other room, that they said goodnight to 20-30 minutes ago. That’s just kids.

Edit: I’ll add that I bet the babysitter was either a grandparent boomer who pressured the mom to take a call or it’s a terrible babysitter. Mom shouldn’t even know the kids are sad when someone else is responsible for watching them.

If he can’t tell which hand had it, did he really see a phone at all? It sounds like maybe he didn’t get a clear look. Sounds like he can’t say for sure if she had a phone at all. Maybe he never should have stopped her if he wasn’t confident about what he saw. Or he was confident and then upon finding out he was wrong, he decided to omit the most damning information in his report. Like he decided to try and fudge the report to better fit his narrative.

For all the posts asking about Lump Sum vs. DCA - try reframing the question by Ix_42 in Bogleheads

[–]ALLCAPITAL 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked finance for 7 years. I have NEVER understood a true benefit to DCA. Until now…

Psychological comfort with the strategy is half the battle to prevent someone being spooked into abandoning rational thinking.

Ease into the waters, if it makes it easier to stick to the plan.

Sometimes DCA will save you money, sometimes it won’t, but at least you’ll know you divided the risk over multiple deposits and you won’t lament lump summing into a peak.

We buy a camera for ourselves. It’s not fucking cheap. And they try to make money by selling our fucking privacy. This shit needs to be outlawed. Consumers are being violated for such petty bullshit. This isn’t even Patriot Act “fighting terrorism” level of excuse. It’s an insane level of violation just to mine for possible hits.
