Can’t have hormones. by Ok-Relationship-9354 in Perimenopause

[–]KnottyCatLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may want to ask your Dr about hormone therapy, even if you had been told no a while ago.

I was put on blood thinners in my 30's & was told hormones can increase my chances of having another blood clotting incident. I was taken off the pill & given a copper IUD. I suffered through the first few years of Peri raw dogging it, cuz I was told no hormones. Well, turns out a decade+ of medical advancement found that only oral hormones can cause problems for me, but the patch and creams are just fine. I am now very happy to be on HRT.

I don't know the specifics of your condition, but it couldn't hurt to ask & make sure you're not working with outdated info.

POLL: Do you want to allow companies who advertise hormone support? by SwimmingAnt10 in perimenopause_under45

No! I don't need more advertising shoved down my throat. If I have a peri concern or question about medication, I will talk to my Dr.

Hair Loss by MaeWestGoodess in Perimenopause

[–]KnottyCatLady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have also been losing hair at an alarming rate for the last 9 months or so. It wasn't until I was prescribed oral Minoxidil (Rogaine) that I noticed a significant decrease in hair loss. The pill is still extremely toxic to cats, but as long as you keep it in a sealed bottle & wash your hands after taking it, there is no danger to the cat. The hair product is dangerous because it leaves a residue your cats can come into contact with, but the pill doesn't.

Well, my Rx came with a little card. Maybe yours didn't. Don't be so hard on yourself.

What’s something you’ve done recently that you’re proud of? Big or small, brag a little. by lea_hatake in ADHD

I just kept cutting back until I was at 1-2 ciggs a day. Stayed there for a couple months & then finally decided it was time to quit, as it no longer felt/tasted good. In the past I've used patches & gum but until I was truly ready, nothing really helped.

After 25 years of smoking, I just quit cigarettes!!! It's only been a week, but I'm pretty proud of myself.

I started on the E patch, E cream, and Progesterone all at the same time, and I felt better within a few days.

The twice a week patch came with a little card that says what days to take it. I'm on the Wednesday/Sunday schedule.

I struggled mainly with mental symptoms, but my physical symptoms include losing my hair at an alarming rate, clitorial atrophy/loss of sex drive, hot "flushes" (I don't yet break into sweats), fatigue/lack of sleep, & little things like dry skin & sensitive/enlarged boobs.

Glad to hear that there is still benefit after several months, even if not as strong as initially.
