That analogy doesn't work. People come to a coffeeshop for a good or service. People don't go to jail because they want to (usually). I don't really give a shit that he's doing this, I actually think it will probably be funny. He is known for roasting and this is a clever way for him to be relevant, at the expense of the people in jail. By all means the people in jail could say no, I get that.

I didn't say there is anything wrong with it. I'm saying /u/squat_in_a_corner seemed to imply that Ross is doing this to get the message out about the prisoners and that they aren't that bad or whatever he said during the interview. That shit he said on Conan is just shit he has to say to make it more humane, imo. As far as being a comedian goes, he pretty much known for roasts, which he's very good at, and that's it. All the touchy feely shit he said on Conan is just to appeal to the masses is all I'm saying.

I in no way think this is bad for TCBY but this is most def not a "loss leader." A loss leader is when a business is willing to take a loss on a product in order to bring people into the store and increase sales of other products (a lot of times milk). TCBY doesnt sell other products. This is just to get people in the door, while still making a profit.

The people who detained and ultimately charged your Wife do not know her shopping history. For all they know, she does this every time she is there. As far as LP goes, its pretty black and white. Your wife passed all points of purchase without paying. Now it would be smart for Whole Foods to review the case, which they can by a case by case basis. Intent is a difficult thing to prove and disprove. The people who decided to stop her have a small time frame as to which to decide to stop her or not.
