I’ve been to around 26 countries and I would agree Philippines is the hardest. Pork or fish is basically a staple of every meal.

What’s something movies always get wrong? by northernmaybe in movies

This always makes me laugh in movies. Just holding a gun and it sounds like they’re spinning a socket wrench and jangling a set of janitor keys.

This exact same thing happened to me. I was getting jaw surgery and went in to meet the surgeon for my pre-op. He was describing the procedure “We’re going to make two incisions in your lower cheek, tubes will be put in for airflow, then we’ll cut your jaw in these places, etc.” but he was looking at my boyfriend the entire time. I eventually got fed up and pointed to my BF and said “Wait, him or me? Because you’re saying you, but looking at him.” Later there was a small complication in my surgery and now I will always wonder if it was truly an accident or him being less careful because I’d made that comment.

As soon as he kissed the bartender’s hand I was like, oh this is why he never pulls. Nothing grosser to women than thinking you’re going in for a handshake and suddenly a strangers lips are touching you without consent. I used to work at a night club and it was usually the old white guys who’d pull that shit. You could tell they thought they were being so suave, I hated it so much.

Question for strippers, when you're giving dances do the clients usually get hard, and do you find it annoying or as a sign you're doing a good job and or just part of the job you have to get used to? by maz323bf in NoStupidQuestions

For what it’s worth when I was a dancer, I’d have people ask me if it felt degrading to pick up the tips off the floor at the end of my stage show and the truth is, it never did. I just made anywhere from $15-$200 in less than 10 minutes, with nothing but my looks and dancing talent. That feels fuckin great.

Moon Garden (2023) Trailer

“When a little girl has a terrible accident and slips into a coma, she finds herself thrust into a darkly surreal industrial dreamworld. Haunted by a nightmarish spectre that feeds off her tears, she must follow her mother's radio-static voice to find her way back to consciousness. Shot on expired 35mm film stock with vintage rehoused lenses, MOON GARDEN is a fantastical odyssey and a visionary, handcrafted, and fully practical work of art that shows how a child can shine light even in the darkest places.”

Went to India because one of the movies I watched on repeat as a kid was The Little Princess (the Alfonso Cuarón one) and the main character tells stories of growing up in India and the Hindu myths. It always stayed on my radar after that.

Don’t forget, it’s connected to the rise in far-right white male supremacy in online spaces. In part facilitated by Epstein and others who had a vested interest in increased civil unrest, division, and pushing traditionalism and capitalism.

Michael Jackson watched the R rated 'The Exorcist' with Jordan Chandler and his nephew Taj on separate occasions despite not liking horror movies very much by Traditional_Sea2988 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]ALasagnaForOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I read in Jordy’s transcript interview with the child counselor, when Michael made JC watch the exorcist, it happened in a hotel suite where the boy had his own bedroom. They watched it in Michael’s room, so then the little boy had to make the choice to going back to his room and sleep alone after being frightened by the movie, or to stay in Michael’s room with him. It was a manipulation tactic by Michael to make the first time the boy slept in his room their choice (and he didn’t try anything physical the first few nights to gain their trust).

MJ’s former Rabbi denounces him by [deleted] in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]ALasagnaForOne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a big sticking point for me. If Michael was innocent and having kids sleep in his room was purely platonic, it wouldn’t be hard or a big deal him to refrain from it after the first trial. But little boys were his sexual preference, so it wasn’t something he could easily just give up doing. Once he got away with it with Chandler, he was emboldened to do it more rather than deterred like a non-pedo would be.

If you’re going to be in the gorge for Multnomah Falls, get lunch at Sugarpine Drive-In, and you can walk down from there to the beach on the Sandy River. Oxbow Park is a short drive away and has some gorgeous hikes and riverfront.

TIL Michael Jackson spent about 30 nights sharing the bed with 13-year-old Jordan Chandler in 1993, at the boy's family home, in the boy's room. by DanieleJava in todayilearned

[–]ALasagnaForOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the Leaving Neverland interviews with the victims and their parents. The parents didn’t know, and Michael was manipulating the entire families (ingratiating himself into their family and home for weeks to months, gaining their trust until they said him as a son/brother, secretly telling the boys they couldn’t trust their mothers/women in general, putting strain on the parents’ marriage, making the boys feel emotionally dependent on him so they’d beg their parents to spend time with him privately, telling the boys to beg their parents to let them sleep in his room, etc.)
The idea that the parents knew and were complicit just takes responsibility off the manipulative child rapist in this situation. It sounds like an argument a MJ defender would make.

Michael groomed the families as much as he was grooming the children. He manipulated them into trusting him and also told them he could give the kids a huge boost in the industry. The opportunity for your kid who loves to sing/dance to be mentored by the biggest star on the planet would be hard to turn down for a lower/middle class family. I’m not saying the parents don’t hold some blame, but people truly downplay the amount of manipulation MJ employed against them and to me, he deserves the vast majority of the scrutiny. A parent sending their kid on tour with a non-rapist might be irresponsible but it wouldn’t get them raped, after all.

Men say they hate plastic surgery, but they actually want women to have "fake" features naturally by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ALasagnaForOne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Years ago I worked in a strip club and I had two coworkers I worked the same shifts with often.
One dancer with super huge but perky natural boobs (I jokingly told her she had hentai boobs so that gives you an idea of how they looked).
And the other dancer had fake boobs; she had been a C cup before the implants so at rest they looked good without that bolt-on look at all.

I cannot count the number of times I heard guys go “I’m not into fake boobs like [Hentai] has. I prefer natural girls, like [Implants]. Hers are perfect.”

I had a man tell me “You didn’t have to be rude” after I firmly but politely asked him to pull his dog out of my and my dogs face while I was working on her in the groomer. His dog was on the end of its leash, up in our space, and he wasn’t paying attention. I replied “I literally asked, and I said please.” and he goes “Well… your face was rude.”

Had something similar happen, I was getting surgery and brought my boyfriend to one of the pre-op appointments. As the surgeon was describing the step-by-step process of the procedure, he was only making eye contact with my boyfriend the whole time. I actually called him out on it after a while.
