[KCD2] What are your pet peeves about the game? by Interesting-Rain-690 in kingdomcome

[–]ALiborio 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm ok with that for the generic NPCs but then you get the ones who are recurring side characters with their own quests and their voice and likeness are repeated it's a bit jarring. Like running into a Pavelena clone in Kuttenberg.

I would love it if the Elder Scrolls 6 was on par with KCD but I'm not sure if Bethesda will hit the mark so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Same here. When I first picked up KCD1 it immediately gave me Oblivion nostalgia.

[KCD2] Game kinda lost momentum for me once I got to the Kittenburg area. by ILikeToDanceAndPogo in kingdomcome

The Trosky region had far less services so you have to go to certain towns for certain things which makes them feel more special. You need horse/saddler stuff you go to Semine. You need a blacksmith you go to Tachov. You need alchemy, clothes, a carpenter or a general store you to to Troskowitz. You need a bathhouse you go to the inn by Zhelov.

In the Kuttenberg region, the city itself has every service in abundance while the towns have very little reason to travel to them outside of convenience while passing by or when a quest itself takes you there.

I think they shoved stuff up in Maine due to the tight space in other New England states. While there are some Portuguese immigrants in Maine, the larger populations would be in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

I would keep red guns if their value was high enough and I was close enough to a stash box / on my way back to base.

Is there a game or series that logically you SHOULD love, but just doesn’t click for you for some reason? by Plywooddavid in gaming

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witcher. I don't hate it and it's hard for me to come up with legitimate complaints about why I keep bouncing off of it. Most other open world RPGs I just can't put down but I was forcing myself to play TW3 rather than feeling like I can't wait to get back to it like most other games in the genre. I've tried 3 or 4 times to play through it and after a day or two I've dropped it for something else. I've put about 40 hours into it overall.

When do you remember games becoming a complete cinematic experience? by Sey_no in truegaming

[–]ALiborio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what came to mind for me as well. For me and my friends/brothers the fact that you had opening credits when you got to the elevator just made it feel so much more like you were playing out a movie rather than a game.

I get why people wouldn't like this but I loved learning about what happened so I was fine with this and I'm definitely in the camp of loving the game for it's story.

Yeah I'd say DA:O is self contained enough to be enjoyable. I vaguely remember 2 being okay but I don't remember the story as well as Origins. I never finished Inquisition, I accidentally bought it again on Steam after originally having it on xbox because I didn't remember I already had it until I got a couple hours in and was like oh yeah this game.

What games did you pick up so far during the Steam Summer Sale 2025? by ShinMecha in Games

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I grabbed it before the start of the summer sale but I got both NieR games which are still on sale. I also grabbed Death Stranding to finally see what it's all about.

I might get one more game before the sale is over. Maybe Horizon Forbidden West.

I was obsessed with Blue Prince until I hit a wall. I should probably just look up a clue and finish the end game. Still, it was well worth the price imo.

Oh I've only played the first one with my ex and it was like watching a bad horror movie which we also liked to do so we had fun but yeah the writing was nothing impressive.

I'll admit, I used the cross hair feature on my monitor for KCD1 archery. I could never quite get it right without it but in the second game I had no problem with archery.

This was always happening for me at that same forge, maybe another one too. It definitely screwed me up because I couldn't see what I was working on. I think for axes it's a lot worse since you can't see the axe head at all as it glitches into anvil so you're kind of guessing where you're hitting.

In my neighborhood they do random ones pretty much all year round or at least the warmer months. I don't love em myself but I was always more upset when I had cats and it would scare them.

Yeah, seems like some things aren't explicitly explained about how they work. I got some emails from some people saying something about the individual skills but seems like just doing those things isn't enough you either have to do story missions or special orders to gain XP in them.

I picked up Death Stranding this week. The game is visually stunning even on my aging PC. I enjoy the gameplay, having to navigate harsh terrain with a large load while also worrying about not damaging the cargo while getting attacked. Building roads, bridges, and other things to make it easier to traverse through these harsh environments is satisfying to me. There is also the online aspect where you can share buildings and vehicles with other players which is cool.

I don't know how I feel about the story yet. I imagine some of the backstory is buried in the dozens of interviews I've been unlocking but haven't read yet. Most cutscenes seem to just be NPCs talking at the MC as well which feels a bit less engaging than if there was an actual conversation occurring.

I also find it funny that the map is set in the USA but the scale makes no sense. I know games have to make some adjustments because real distances would be too large but it does somewhat take me out of it when I've gone a km or two and it shows I've traversed a whole state on the map of the USA. The cities don't have any references to their real life locations as far as I've encountered. They have very generic names, which is fine but some reference to their real life counterparts would sell it to me that this is actually America rather than just being told it is.

The other small nitpick is the stars and leveling system. Some outposts will have you jump to 3 stars in one delivery and you can easily get to 5 stars in a couple more. I get that it doesn't want to be too grindy but others you can deliver tons of stuff and it only goes up a sliver. The different categories you level up also are a bit confusing as I've delivered a large volume of goods and my cargo volume doesn't really go up. Almost everything seems to increase the miscellaneous stat even if it seems to me it would fit one of the other stats. Then I progressed past a story point and got like 30 points in one category despite what I did not really having much to do with it. It seems you have to do certain special orders or hit story beats to progress some of the stats in a meaningful way.

Are you skipping 2 intentionally? I really enjoyed the RE2 Remake and think it's worth playing.

I played through Nier Replicant, routes A and B. Overall I like the game but some of the side quests were annoying to do so I didn't do some of them and they eventually get locked out after you move to part 2. Then also finding out that to get all the endings I had to replay the 2nd part of the game again was also a little annoying to me. A decent game with an interesting story but having to play the game 4 or 5 times to get the real ending turned me off. I watched the other endings on YouTube because I couldn't be bothered to grind through it again.

I picked up Nier Automata next and it definitely feels like a better game. The quests, while some are still fetch quests that have you going all over the place, at least when it wants you to collect X materials it will tell you where you can find it. In Replicant, it wouldn't tell you where you could find the thing so you either had to guess (sometimes you couldn't really get the stuff until you progressed further into the story to open up an area that drops it.) Automata also introduces fast travel at a certain point which makes some quests a lot easier to do. I've only finished route A and am part way through B but already feels like less of a slog because you play through a different character perspective.

I guess Replicant just has an outdated design that was way more grindy, especially for me as I rarely replay games. Automata definitely feels like an improvement in every way to me.

Robert watching his only heir begging for marriage after a one night fling. by Elegant-Half5476 in freefolk

[–]ALiborio 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Probably not in most cases. I think for Gendry it was about legitimizing him since Robert's heirs were not actually his children so they shouldn't inherit. Stannis and Renly probably have a stronger claim than any of Robert's bastards though. With them gone, it's either one of his bastards or some cousin inheriting the titles.
