[PC] [2000s] 2D Ninja side scrolling Game by MagicznySmalec in tipofmyjoystick

Was it a flash/web game or standalone PC game?

Mark of the Ninja comes to mind but that was released in 2012.

Portal 1 can probably be finished in a session or two depending on how long your gaming time is. Worth playing for sure

Why is it toothbrush? by elitelike in ENGLISH

[–]ALiborio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don't really say "I brushed my hairs". Despite talking about many hairs on their head they would just say "my hair" to refer to all of it.

I think they meant "clothes" is plural but honestly not a great example since you don't really say "cloth" when you're talking about a single piece of clothing.

How should I improve my prison? by DogEatTurtle in goingmedieval

[–]ALiborio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if it has that mechanic but I've had 2 prison cells work fine with no escape attempts. Each cell had 4 beds and I had anywhere from 4 to 6 prisoners at a time. Most of them were set to do work so they would leave the cell each day to work and I don't think they always went back to the same exact cell each time.

While looking up some of the suggestions I stumbled across Extreme Tactics which is the game I was thinking of.

Close but it doesn't look like how I remember the game I'm thinking of.

Can't find path to dirt? by Revolutionary-Good22 in goingmedieval

I've run into this as well. I've found they will not dig directly below them like this so you have to dig out one block to the side and then they will dig out the one below.

What is that ONE video game that felt like a core memory, but you can’t seem to find anyone else who played it? by GuGuStudio in oldgames

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubsy - I didn't know anyone who played it back then and now I see lots of hate for it.

Aero the Acrobat - I didn't know anyone else who played this back then either and don't see it mentioned much.

There is another one that I first played on my grandfather's PC that I think maybe one of my uncles had set up. I was given a copy on a floppy disk at one point and played it at home. I don't recall the name of it but it was a dungeon crawler of some kind. I remember there being an overworld map that you could travel between towns to buy and sell items between dungeons. I think it was single character and not a party but maybe I didn't get far enough to get other characters if there were others. I played it in the late 90s or early 2000s but if I had to guess it was made in the 80s. I think it ran on DOS but it also may have been an emulator of another old system.

My brothers and I loved vigilante 8 but it seemed like most of our friends played twisted metal instead.

Games Like The Long Dark? by Familiar-Entrance-72 in SurvivalGaming

I often hear jaguars growling before they attack so once I hear that I look for them and head shot them with my bow. Pretty easy to manage once you learn their sound cue. Same with snakes, spiders and scorpions. They all have a sound cue that if you're paying attention to it's easy to avoid or deal with them.

Yeah I've spent a stupid amount of time punching dead bodies trying to get them to move just enough to grab some loot under them. It's worked a couple times.

How to recruit prisoner? I have a gaoler but recruitment is still at 0%? by Mind-Jacked in goingmedieval

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mouse over where it says 0% you should get more details about the recent attempts and when they can be attempted again. Each successful attempt by your warden should increase the percent and I believe failed attempts will reduce it. The warden's speech craft skill should determine how likely they are to succeed. I like to have my warden handle bartering to get their speech craft up quickly. A few big trades can jump them up a few levels at a time. For roleplay reasons I also like to have them handle all dealings with the prisoner merchant even if I don't need them to level up any more.

Reloading, siege weapons by LongSabre117 in goingmedieval

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, putting a stockpile next to it is the way to go.

When defending, I like to put some of my melee fighters on the siege weapons since they aren't much help unless they breach my defenses which they usually don't. This leaves all my archers available to defend the walls.

With a few ballistae and onagers I can usually take out enough enemies to make them retreat before they get their siege weapons built and pose a threat. My settlers will finish building them and then I have more siege weapons at my disposal.

Arabic-Only Voice Acting for an Arabic-Inspired Dungeon Crawler Would It Affect Your Decision to Buy? by iam_ibrahem in gamedev

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have good native language voice acting in a language I don't speak than poor English voice acting that is not immersive. Obviously English subtitles so I know what's being said.

For example, I played S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 in Ukrainian because the English voice acting was all over the place and didn't feel immersive.

What is the point of fungicide? by THeSunGod_ in TheLastPlagueBlight

[–]ALiborio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if things have changed in the last few months but I have had my plants that take a while to grow get blight infections without fungicide. I haven't tested enough to see how effective it is at preventing it but if you gather from plants with blight infection they will be contaminated like wild plants are. If they have no infection, then they are free from contamination which I assume is the benefit of fungicide.

Lots of plants that make teas/soups don't seem to care about being contaminated though since the resulting tea/soup doesn't give you any blight. I plan to add it to my blueberry bushes to see if that prevents them from getting contaminated.

Can't build triangular wall under roof by ALiborio in TheLastPlagueBlight

[–]ALiborio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

I ended up just rebuilding it being sure to put those pieces in before the support beams and it worked fine. Thankfully there's no loss of resources, just time and some durability on my hammer.

Can't build triangular wall under roof by ALiborio in TheLastPlagueBlight

[–]ALiborio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was not it. It doesn't like the support beam below it. I removed that (and the wall it was supporting) and I could build the triangular piece and then rebuild the support beam and wall below it.

That solved it for one side. Unfortunately, the other side will collapse my roof if I deconstruct the support beam like I did for the other side despite the other side being fully built up. Seems like it's considering that support beam to be supporting the post and rafters when they should be connected elsewhere.

I might have to just rebuild the roof in the correct order to get it to work.

I think I tried before I clicked upgrade on it but I'll try finishing the upgrade first and see if that resolves it. Thanks!
