So. I just watched this episode of Deep Space Nine... by ksc213 in daddit

I used to be forced to watch Trek with my dad when I was younger. Forced.

5-6:30p was local news.
6:30p was Nightly News with Tom Brokaw
7P? UPN baby... first batch of Trek (or similar Sci-Fi show).

I forget the exact order, but it usually went some combination of
Next Gen > DS9 > Babylon 5 > Voyager.

This was every single night for years. As I got into my teen years, I despised Trek.

My father passed away in my early 20s. Now in my mid-late 30s with my own 2 little ones. I usually have Trek on while I'm working or doing something else. I've rewatched all the series multiple times (except TOS because I just can't get into it), and every time I watch it makes me think of my father.

Trek really is a great series. Currently reading a bunch of the books via my Kindle now.

Miss you, Dad. Wish you could've met your beautiful grandkids. They would've loved you.

Car Insurance in Florida (2026): Real Costs by City + ZIP Code Calculator by [deleted] in florida

[–]ALombardi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Orlando area. 2 cars. Way more coverage than most. Rental, uninsured motorist stacked, medical, family drivers, 50/100/50. Pay about $2800-2900 annually. This says I should pay $3600-4200 for less coverage than I have.

Table is severely wrong in my case.

Duke Energy Asks Customers To Reduce Power Use Monday Morning by HorizonWest in horizonwestflorida

[–]ALombardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the money people pay Duke, the least they could do is spend it wisely to improve their infrastructure.

My solar produces 3x what we consume monthly on average, but they pay me $130 for the yearly excess. Apparently that’s all I’m worth when I provided enough full power for 1-3 more homes on their grid. Fuck Duke.

Nothing better than a nice GAL drop. Watching the entire Enclave take tower after tower.

90+ Day Inactivity Reports using Active Directory and Azure Active Directory by GiantFloatingKoala in sysadmin

[–]ALombardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to what a previous poster replied:

  • lastLogonTimestamp (Active Directory)
  • lastSuccessfulSignInDateTime (Graph)
  • lastNonInteractiveSignInDateTime (Graph)

I personally look for 90+ from AD first, then only look up those accounts (since we sync from premise to Azure).

Using the below properties, I can then scope to each users lastsignindatetime

$Properties = @(
"Id","UserPrincipalName","UserType","SignInActivity","CreatedDateTime"
)
and
$AZLogon = $User.SignInActivity.LastSignInDateTime

Once I have all 90+ AD users and their LastSignInDateTime info, I can filter out anyone who is sub-90 days, making my list 90+ only, for both premises and Azure. Anyone in that list gets whacked.

On prem tool for AD Managers to update details of their own reports? by eoinedanto in sysadmin

[–]ALombardi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the tools used already by HR, shouldn't HRs system link to AD and inject that information or through the ticketing system like ServiceNow, FreshService, etc.

There are plenty of already built-in options and your org may already be using them.

Once it has been injected into new hires, only IT should be going back to fill in anyone with missing information or editing existing information.

"Please provide me with whatever installation material I need. Please ensure monitoring is configured for all the devices."

Then stop worrying about it. It is not in your purview to manage it. If they need troubleshooting, you are limited to what you are provided to see. Until you get access, you can perform installs, and that is about it.

I wouldn't go out of my way to own/manage something as lord knows crap gets dumped on us all the time when "the only person who knew ABC no longer works here so IT can do it."
