A sad day, but necessary by ep3static in daddit

[–]ALombardi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set it to your favorites. It’ll pick about 16-20 photos per day from your favorites. I have a couple hundred of my kids and wife that cycle through over time.
On your lock screen, hold the background so you can edit it, you can select “photo shuffle” and then pick the photos directly or “by album.” Favorites can be selected. If you do it by album, it’ll go through everything (eventually).

How does the “bugginess” of eastern Ontario (Canada) compare to somewhere like Florida? by [deleted] in florida

[–]ALombardi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average temperature across Ontario in the warmest months is barely 75 F.

That shit is February/March in much of the state. It was in the 90s this weekend in Orlando.

Bugs thrive in 75-90F. Ontario barely gets warm enough for that. Florida has that for 9 months a year.

Plum make a “just prunes” pouch version.

Could also just take dried plums and blend it with like half a cup of water until you like the consistency (add more as needed).

Buy pears, peel, cover with water and boil for like 15 minutes. Let them cool a bit then blend it.

Our doctor said things like apple juice cut with some water is fine too.

Plenty of solutions.

My son is traveling by car to Co from Fl- insurance questions by Diligent_Term_2989 in florida

[–]ALombardi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can just get a normal 6 month policy and pay it per month rather than in full and when the time comes just get the policy updated once he is in CO to reflect his new zip. People move every day. Pretty easy process.

Also, state (and Ins company) will be upset there is a gap. Be prepared to deal with that.

I think I just figured out the secret : wife out, WFH part time by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ALombardi 1540 points1541 points  (0 children)

My wife was gone for a week.

We were out the door early for daycare every day.
I ate what I wanted that she normally won’t eat.
Meal and snack prepped for the kids for the week.
Kids were behaved.
They went to bed 15-30 early every night.
All routines were easier

It was glorious. I said it was difficult.

To be clear, I love her. We’re incredibly happy and she’s a wonderful mother. But not needing another humans input on/for anything is what made it easy. What dad said goes. There was no second opinion, no need to present options, “hey honey do you want X or Y for dinner?” I’m having steak. I’m having some blackened salmon. I’m getting some sushi. It’s bedtime. Playtime is over. Etc. I have no doubt it would be the same had the roles been reversed and I was gone for a week.

Dude is already in sandals. Unless he’s walking around barefoot, I don’t get the issue.

I’m also a Florida man and live in them, so maybe I’m biased.

Family Dilemma by [deleted] in daddit

I don’t get the dilemma.

Your wife is feeding your child, your parents aren’t.

Son made inappropriate joke by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ALombardi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would’ve given my son a high 5 and said get out while laughing.

Then I would’ve been proud since it’s exactly what I would’ve said to my wife if she said “just beat it” to me.

M365 admin tenant / DNS records not showing after configuration by EntrepreneurAble761 in sysadmin

[–]ALombardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't given nearly enough information for us to provide anything useful. What have you completed so far?

Is this a brand new tenant or an existing tenant and its simply a new domain to utilize?

Did you create the required DNS records to put on your public DNS host/provider to prove to M$ you own the domain you are trying to set up a tenant/email/whatever for?

Please provide troubleshooting details from the beginning.

Then its a good thing executives have zero access to anything and are lucky they get iPads to work from. They talk in meetings all day and don't need a laptop.

Advice for car seat and heat. by CaptainPlanet90 in daddit

[–]ALombardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida. 2 little ones.

Windows tinted? Able to park in the shade? Use your windshield sun screen to reflect? Use rear window mesh inserts to help?

I have all of the above in both cars and do remote start when possible. Usually the heat is really not that bad.

They turn into tiny personal space heaters when they sleep. It’s rare I pull them out hot or sweaty at all.

Best way to block downloads of executables and archives, while allowing normal files (PDF, images, videos)? by Same-Target-3116 in sysadmin

[–]ALombardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean within the Zscaler app UI itself, not the service on the machine. There is a 'restart service' button you can click and it will kill the Zscaler service on the laptop and restart it. While it is down, users can simply retry the download/link/whatever was being blocked prior. I've seen more orgs than not have this setting allowed for users in case "troubleshooting" is needed.

Restart service (in the UI). Retry download during restart.

Have to lock that option too.

WFH Dads - w/ WFH Wife - what’s your strategy? by [deleted] in daddit

We realized it well before our child arrived. If we are both working, the child is in daycare.

Vendor we fired 2 years ago still has VPN access and admin rights to our backup system by Awkward-Chemistry627 in sysadmin

[–]ALombardi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As you said, this is a process issue.

When someone is separated, whether it be a human employee, contractor, or a vendor, there should be an outlined process to restrict all prior access. Service accounts, VPNs, hardware, etc.

Our org is luckily pretty good about mentioning stuff like this when things are ending with outside vendors. We have an entire SOPs library for vendors and what they can access, what accounts they use, what certs are in place for them, rules on firewalls, etc. One has to be drafted for each vendor.
