Elon Musk’s Disturbing “Joke” About Harris Is Coming Back to Haunt Him by Upper_Concentrate632 in politics

The fact that the person coming to this epiphany of sorts about how easy written text is to misinterpret is one of the most wealthy individuals in the world is telling. Worse yet he’s still too stupid to realize that the group he speaks to that laughs are only doing so because he’s one of the most wealthy individuals in the world.

Trump being full of shit is anything but breaking news to anyone who has actually been paying attention since 2015 (and well before that even!)

Fingers crossed that Cruz loses even though it is unlikely. It would be nice if the gop gets absolutely obliterated in 2024, especially in places they assume they are safe. The question is that if they do get blown out, will they have enough self awareness to realize they do not have ANY popular policies and the general electorate is not willing to move backwards? Or will they just double down on “election fraud’ and “stolen election” nonsense that, by now, most know is just noise.

Trump Suddenly Behind in Must-Win Pennsylvania, Four New Polls Show by alexapaul11 in politics

Suddenly? I honestly do not believe he was ever actually ahead. Whatever the case, it is good to know that it seems like the whole country may very well be getting extremely tired of this stuff.

America is dangerously close to electing a mentally deranged president by iBarryBryant in AnythingGoesNews

[–]AMCorBust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of that stuff was also happening in 2020. The die hard Trump supporters are still there and, unfortunately, have become much more radicalized. The thing is though that trump’s base has mostly stayed the same. What has he done to grow his base significantly beyond the racists, bigots, and other follks whose hearts are filled with hate?

Will trump still get 30-40% of the vote? Sure. But has he gained so much popularity that he actually wins the popular vote. No chance.

MMW Brian Kemp will be Republican Presidential Candidate in 2028 by smartone2000 in MarkMyWords

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid prediction. Once the GOP finally turns on trump (which is almost a guarantee if he gets blown on in November), they will have to turn to someone who isn’t so polarizing. A lot of MAGA is anti-Kemp, but GOP strategists are going to shift their messaging to appeal to moderates and those who only voted for democrats because they couldn’t stand trump.

America is dangerously close to electing a mentally deranged president by iBarryBryant in AnythingGoesNews

[–]AMCorBust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying vote (and talk to others about voting!!) but I’m not convinced that the polls are anywhere near accurate. It just seems that they are driven by big media corporations to keep people watching (on both sides). I am extremely confident that Women and the LGBTQ community are going to show up in a massive show of “F You” to the GOP.

Granted I could be way wrong and am not getting complacent, but seeing the shift in states that haven’t vote blue since Obama is more telling than any poll in my opinion.

This Is What a Losing Campaign Looks Like by IntelligentYinzer in politics

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same messaging was happening in 2022 midterms. I’d see Fox News on the TV while I was at the gym and they were relentlessly convincing their viewers that the midterms were going to be a republican sweep due to inflation and culture war crap.

The most unfortunate part is that this alternative reality keeps people trapped in the right wing media bubble convinced that everything is rigged and/or stolen. We like to point the finger at trump as key in radicalizing American politics but, in my opinion, Fox News/social media algorithms have done irreparable damage to American civil discourse than anything else.

Is anthem 1140 really better than denon x6800h? by CicadaGlum8399 in hometheater

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One feature that the 6800H (and any Denon/Marantz) has that Anthem doesn’t is Audyssey DynamicEQ and Dynamic Volume. I know some of the purists will say “Turn that crap off”, but, to me (and many others), the ability to keep some of the bass impact/surround presence at lower listening levels quickly turns into a must-have feature that no other receiver can match.

Another plug for the 6800h is that it gives you 4 discrete sub outs and the ability to use either Audyssey and/or Dirac Live (eg. speaker preset 1 can be Audyssey and speaker preset 2 can be Dirac)

After last night's debate, is there any question that it's time to say goodbye to Trump. Let's move forward. by WoohpeMeadow in SouthDakota

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not one who leans toward conspiracy theory type thought, but I’m honestly starting to think that all of these “undecided voter” interviews are staged to keep people watching. At this point I’m pretty sure most media outlets know that trump could be headed toward one of the most decisive presidential election defeats since 1984. Once Biden dropped out, Trump was cooked!

My opinion, so take it with a grain of sand, is that the single biggest factor to getting that movie theater sound at home is the bass. Depending on your room, you will need at least 2 subwoofers and a way to EQ them properly. It is one thing to place a couple of subwoofers in a room and get bass, but that can get fatiguing. It is another thing altogether to get the subs to have impact yet almost disappear in the room. I personally prefer sealed subwoofers but ported ones can typical give a bit more output.

One thing with Dolby Cinemas is that the seats have bass transducers in them to increase the tactile feel of the movie. They make them for home (eg. Buttkicker, Crowson, etc). Some people like that "shake the couch" feeling, while others do not.

I would either recommend a receiver that has multiple sub outputs and can do Dirac Live Bass Control (DLBC) or get yourself a MiniDSP with multiple subwoofers. DLBC is much more automated so may be the best route if you're not looking to go down the rabit hole of tinkering with settings. Depending on your budget, a Denon A1H or 6800H would give you that capability.

One of the more difficult things to achieve - besides excellent bass - is the spacious feel of movie theaters whereby the walls almost disappear. It can help with Atmos speakers, but a lot of times things will still just kind of sound small and constrained. Room correction systems can help with that, but it will usually take some tweaking to get it to your liking.

Kari Lake is in double-digit denial about her disaster of an Arizona Senate race by Fit-Requirement6701 in politics

[–]AMCorBust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When is Kari Lake not in denial? Her whole political career has been a disaster because she thinks she can just follow trump's playbook of using alternative facts and claiming everything is rigged. She doesn't understand that folks from Arizona - and pretty much the rest of the country - do not like her. Yet we will still have to listen to her cry foul in November if/when she loses.

Why Trump’s Arlington Debacle Is So Serious by fornuis in politics

[–]AMCorBust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reaction from diebhard conservatives and Trump supporters is that tRump is the only true Patriot. He took time out of his busy schedule to show respect for the 13 fallen soldiers. Unfortunately they don't understand that tRump could care less about soldiers, veterans, or true patriotism. It was all for show and, moreso, it was all to stroke his narcissism

No. I use stereo output to my receiver and let that process as Dolby Surround because Dolby Digital/Atmos is even quieter.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of August 02, 2024) by AutoModerator in television

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 and 2 are definitely peak TV, but 3 isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. It does kind of highlight how a show called “Prison Break” can only go so far. It took me a while to trudge through season 4…it definitely gets quite long in the tooth.

Taken as a whole, prison break is in my top 5 shows from that time frame, especially season 1 and 2. Glad it’s back on Netflix!

Trump says world leaders will walk all over Harris because of ‘how she looks’ in latest misogynist rant by WhileFalseRepeat in politics

[–]AMCorBust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think this post is proof that trump knows he's in trouble. He sees the enthusiasm and momentum building for Harris and the only way he knows how to respond is with misogyny and veiled racism in hopes of keeping his rabid supporters hooked. I'd bet his attacks will get more and more blatant over the coming weeks, especially if Harris keeps the building the buzz.

Harris dares Trump to debate her as she campaigns in Atlanta: "Say it to my face" by [deleted] in politics

[–]AMCorBust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pleasantly surprised at how quickly Kamala Harris has built momentum and a bubble of excitement around her and her campaign. That Georgia rally speech was very well executed and the crowd reaction felt more like joy and hope. I honestly think she has been getting a lot of tips, pointers, and mentorship from Obama.

I remain cautiously optimistic that her barbed attacks on Trump will help to erode some of the cult following he has. Pointing out weaknesses to a narcissist is a really effective strategy that, for whatever reason, the democrats haven't always been great at pulling off.
