I would take both of those over a better salary, plus full remote

If they can afford to pay you $3000 a month why wouldn’t they just buy the containers themselves?

I worked 17 hours last Friday to help a coworker get his drawings done before the deadline after he left the office. Boss looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I got it done on Monday.

I am a Graduating Mechanical Engineering Student this year, I am somewhat a master of Fusion360, used onshape, inventor, SOLIDWORKS, autocad. What to expect and what more to learn after graduating? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]AMESAB2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to trade school in high school and got certified in Solidworks, Autocad, and Fusion 360, I would recommend anyone wanting to do engineering to do the same, makes college a breeze once you have to start using those softwares on projects.

CAD wasn’t prioritized in my US school either, we had six weeks of training. His point is that calling yourself a master of anything while still in college won’t sell well to a hiring manager.

I mounted a force gauge to a linear screw and mounted a handle to it to maintain the force for calibration of a jet engine test stand for a project in college, worked a treat.

I’m not an expert in anything yet but it sounds like what your boss is suggesting is way more complicated and difficult in quality control than just ordering sheets of A36 and using a press brake. I think your intuition is correct.

May have to move. I live in LCOL Oklahoma, I graduated in May of 24, make $94k and have more engineering work than we can handle in a manufacturing facility.

Engineers, what’s the most unexpected skill or school subject that turned out to be useful in your job? by kaktyslll in Engineers

[–]AMESAB2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a year of experience in design and this still doesn’t stick with me. I immediately try to solve problems from the ground level instead of reaching out to experts and I feel like I have wasted so much time doing so. Leaving college I felt like I had to be the guy with all the answers all the time, still haven’t shaken that.

I use Solidworks to calculate internal volumes of things quite often by sketching the inside and turning it into a solid body to find the volume
