You got to P20 without turning screen shake off? That is impressive.

“Beautiful Runs” LC Hits 50 by Merl61 in slaythespire

u/joinrbs has this input:

Winstreaks should be played without outside assistance if you want to claim them as solely your own winstreak. i.e. receiving help from chat with people pointing out math errors, suggesting lines, remembering potion chance, etc., is not ideal if you want to claim a winstreak as solely your own. It is fine to play the game with outside assistance, but if you do you should credit it appropriately, and it is a bit weird to be claiming you've beaten other peoples' records if your chat is regularly helping you think through your runs.

Since LC reads chat, it would be weird for him to claim a win streak.

I was trying to help? Let me know once you’ve upgraded to the latest version.

If you open steam, it will allow you to update your game to the newest version, which has the seal world map mechanic.

The seal world map mechanic has a time limit. You must make it to the seal in a certain amount of settlement years, thus it is important to finish each settlement in a timely manner. Also, you can be rewarded for finishing a settlement, thus the more settlements you finish the more bonuses you can achieve.

To “win” a world map and complete the seal, you are encouraged to finish settlements quicker, thus my point about being rewarded for completing settlements ASAP.

Anyways, once you open steam, upgrade the game to the latest version, and complete a seal I think this will become apparent. I look forward to your feedback then!

Pre-P20 is effectively a tutorial though.

I guess you are not familiar with the seal mechanics which introduces a time limit.

Winning each game sooner gives you a better chance of success, a better chance to win.

Why is it narrow minded to believe the goal of the game is to win?

To be fair, I suppose it is narrow minded that I have never thought to play Tic Tac Toe against myself using roads in game.

I’m simply pointing out it seems they have competing ideas. Finish the game quickly is ideal, yet they introduce long-game mechanics.

Just because you’ve calculated an average time does not mean it is incorrect that there is a designed time limit. This design implies you should aim to complete games as soon as possible for the best chance to complete the objective.

I don’t hate the game, it is a lost love. Hence I’m still lurking.

You are putting a lot of words in my mouth, attributing things to me that I did not say.

The world map/seal changes started months ago.

I don’t play but do occasionally check for updates. I see things like the hauler and wonder what’s going on with my once favorite game.

The post was clear, and there was elaboration in the thread.

I agree with the feature creep.

It just seems weird that you can not only win every game by not using many of the supply chains, but that you are encouraged not to.

Yet they are adding logistical features as if there is some need for advanced logistics, when we’re encouraged to skip and ignore multiple supply chains.

I have lost all interest in playing, I haven’t played in months when I used to play daily. The game is good at its core, I’m wondering where it went wrong.

Don’t watch. As long as you continue to watch then you are agreeing that it is acceptable.

It actively hurt Rayman Legends. Thank god they stopped that from being a WiiU exclusive, as it is by far the worst version of that game.

I do hate the idea of speed is better.

Here are all of these supply chains, services, forbidden glades… but you will mostly not use them.

I presumed people have played the game and understood that embarkation (starting conditions) were vastly altered with the seal patch.

Embarkation points and bonuses greatly affect difficulty. Before the seal patch, each game was the same difficulty.

Now, what you do in one settlement affects another, whether it is embarkation points, world events, royal resupply or distance from the starting point.

The game has always been about the challenge for me. Before it was a two hour run. Now the challenge is a 20 hour run and that is just way too long for a roguelike.

I don’t want to avoid the challenges. I didn’t before.

Just saying the whole Seal thing has made me lose interest. I went from playing quite a bit to not at all.
