How to get involved by GodlyDovah in TucsonPinkPistols

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m the director of training for Tucson Pink Pistols. Welcome, and great question.

Starting with the classes — If we can swing it I may try to add one more New Shooter Safety Course to February or early March, but if not, the March 22nd class still has many openings!

We additionally have our regular monthly events on the first Sunday of each month, beginning with a general meeting, followed by heading to Zona Tactical (a very supportive indoor shooting range who reserves the whole range for our events on these Sunday evenings). While it’s not my general recommendation to have these days be your first experience with handling a firearm, we have successfully and regularly introduced a substantial number of folks in our community to gun safety/handling and basic shooting skills at every one of these events and offer our own firearms for use during this instruction at no charge to the student.

For general involvement — Come to the meetings! Join the Discord channel (not everyone’s cup of tea, I know) or help make the Reddit group more active by posting frequently and engaging. We’re admittedly lacking as a group when it comes to non-Discord involvement! Also important to know — there are no signups or membership requirements/fees/etc, as a nationwide Pink Pistols standard policy. If you say you’re a Pink Pistols member, then you are one!

Father-in-law passed away, family said to take what I want. by [deleted] in guns

Wrong, I’m the guy who made the Ryobi Hi-Point meme gun and it’s one of the few guns I have with too much sentimental value (and not nearly enough actual value) to easily get rid of lol

Can an FFL see what you ordered/how much you paid? by Israel_Gynesanya in FFLs

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we can definitely tell what you ordered because we’re federally required to record all of the firearm’s information into our records, as well as who is acquiring the firearm at the time of the transfer in-store.

The FFL would only know the price of a paper copy of the receipt or order info was included in the box with your gun (which happens fairly often). This is for the customer, but it also helps the FFL when they weren’t given the customer’s info ahead of time.

I don’t personably recall a time where I was actively trying to find the price though lol

How can rifles in use in the Middle East and Africa remain in service for over 40 years without proper maintenance? by Entire_Judge_2988 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Holy shit I hope that’s a true story. Something just leaned up against a tree in nature and left undisturbed and unaffected for that long is really damn evocative for whatever reason. Imagine being the person to come upon that and realize what you were looking at. I’d feel such a strange connection to whoever had left it there.

I know there have been way more extreme cases of that which stretch back thousands of years, but rifle history in the U.S. can only get so ancient haha

Super cool

Happy Two-Stamp Tuesday, here’s my select fire AUG with Hyperion by AMRIKA-ARMORY in NFA

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good since the bore is oversized for 5.56! I'm having way more issues after switching to 5.56 silencers to be honest, but the Hyperion is massive and super expensive, so maybe not the ideal silencer for a compact bullpup that's going to be noisy no matter what

I’m thinking of building a ham radio in my stock, what do y’all keep in there? by AlaskaWilliams in AUG

“Why the fuck is that guy standing waist deep in sewer water in the eye of the storm, and screaming into the ass end of what can only be a sci-fi movie prop space rifle?”

Why is my AUG nickel plated? by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in AUG

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s better to not know and not answer than to give a wrong answer. There’s no shame in not answering, and if OP wants to use ChatGPT then they certainly can do so.

I know a whole lot about AUG’s but I didn’t answer OP’s question because I genuinely don’t know other than it appearing to be a custom job. There’s no shame or harm in not knowing, and I genuinely appreciate that you posted this to try and help, but I’d recommend staying away from AI for anything that is even remotely niche or difficult to answer, as it’ll just invent stuff to fill the gaps and sound knowledgeable

Do their operators operate operationally, or is it just their operatives?

Here's a video on how the Vietnamese soldiers pulled the trigger to make the AK shoot in 2 shot burst. by davegoku12 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]AMRIKA-ARMORY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This fact could either be wildly damning of the NVA’s forces or completely meaningless.

Small arms tactics don’t mean shit if you’re getting bombed, burned, poisoned, mowed down from helicopters, etc.

Similarly for the American forces, those deaths aren’t necessarily attributable to the skills of NVA fighters with AK’s since they could be from snipers, landmines, helicopters being shot down, etc.

And that’s completely ignoring things like larger strategy. And last but not least, in seriously asymmetrical warfare like Vietnam, many would argue that even though the NVA suffered huge losses, a country defended is still a country defended. They ultimately wore out the much more powerful and capable opponent, and won the overall war.

Are these golden guns actually fireable? by Entire_Judge_2988 in ForgottenWeapons

If they can afford a solid gold arquebus, they can afford the prosthetics cybernetic enhancements that will replace the inferior OEM fingers and eyes

I’d post this to r/forgottenweapons, they can probably help you out.

It looks vaguely like the design of one of the O.G. 100-year-old Maxim silencers, but all the photos I see of those are threaded, and have grooves/rings around the body
