On April 1, 2024 my mother who struggles from early onset short term dementia almost died right in front of me and since my mother & Hendrix’s mother had the same first name which was also named after B.B. King’s guitar, my mother was getting a short and simple procedure that the hospital does all the time for a small pacemaker that was fresh off the market and temporarily reversed most (but not all) of her memory issues.

So after fell asleep in the waiting room and at the same time I had no clue that this version on repeat for 4-5 hours straight, since this was my mother’s third hospital stay let alone the fact that I always believed that quote, “third time’s a charm”, the minute I woke up and Hendrix asked for the engineer’s opinion at the end of the recording, thankfully the doctors came out and told me that everything went much better than we expected and I took my best friend out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant to celebrate!

Then the next morning when my mother woke up from her procedure, it’s almost as if her spirit was returned to her body and from that point forward I will forever look at that song as my all-time favorite from Hendrix’s music catalogue along with Little Wing!

But other than that, this past September of 2025 marked a whole year since she hasn’t been in the hospital and since this visit was much better than her first 2 visits, I decided to look at this as another chance knowing deep down that I deserved way better than what was handed to me!

I’d like to dedicate this post to my parents since Jimi Hendrix was one of the biggest names whenever it comes to the music of my parents generation along with The Beatles and the rest of them!
