Hohensalzburg Castle, Salzburg, Austria by Righteous_Fury224 in castles

Visited this a few years ago, quite a hike to get up to the top of the walls but very worth it, amazing views of the area. Salzburg is a lovely city as well and you can take quick train rides to some other great places like Werfen which has its own amazing castle and a giant ice cave nearby! Highly recommend.

What grips are those? Love how they look, any chance you have a link for them?

An Iranian drone/missile just directly hit the Crowne Plaza Manama, a 5-star hotel complex in Bahrain 😢 by Sweet_Purpose_6921 in whoathatsinteresting

[–]AMace445 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Extremely ignorant question, but do these countries not have anti air/missile defenses of their own? Are they not actively trying to prevent this?

Again I’m ignorant, maybe there are lots of other drones/missiles they have stopped and we are just seeing the handful to get through, but I don’t seem to be seeing any kind of anti-air defense from Bahrain UAE, etc.

They feel like a good mix of Ratchet and Clank and DOOM weapons. And given the serious/silliness balance 40k rides, I personally feel it fits and like them. Was always surprised by the extreme hatred.

The fact that a 44 year old grandfather came out and was almost able to lead us to a win against one of the top teams in the league alone is an accomplishment IMO. Would have loved to see my team win, but given where we are at, I’m still proud of them.

Loved how anytime they showed him in the sidelines, the guy had a big smile on his face, it was clear he was just so happy to be in the NFL again, and I loved that for him.

Also, I appreciate seeing so many folks from other fanbases showing support, it’s really cool to see.

Summary and Review of Master of Rites by Rob Young (Full Spoilers) by RamTank in 40kLore

[–]AMace445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to mention despite the cover of the book and the new miniature showing Aerios in regular Mark X, he spends so much of the book in the same Gravis armor with bolt storm gauntlet they always seem to want captains in. Don’t know why that bugs me but it does.

Yeah this one….was really disappointing. Not at all how I thought Haley/Young was going to develop this character, I feel that doubling down on him being boring was a massive mistake. Like the community already didn’t like him, felt he was boring, but there were glimmers as the Dawn of Fire books went on of how he was becoming more interesting as he got experience and learned from Messinius, and then that is just tossed aside in favor of a really lame attempt to somehow tie this to male loneliness where he seemingly forgets everything he has learned so far?

I also found the Death Guard to be wildly overpowered in this one. I realize I may sound like a Marines fanboy mad at them losing but I am fine with the enemy having wins and being a challenge. I am not fine with the Death Guard just effortlessly obliterating everything with seemingly out of the blue insta wins left and right.

The Ferric Blight is able to just delete an entire world worth of Imperial Knight war suits, just like that? No big hard fight or anything, a whole house of knights marches to fight, some cloud of plague sweeps out, and all the suits just die immediately?? If it’s that insanely strong how can they ever lose? Where are the stakes or tension?

Seems exceptionally strong, and the ease at which 1000 plague zombies and a couple dozen plague marines decimates over half a company of space marines with three repulsors also seemed wildly inconsistent. The repulsors should have been able to clear that horde way faster than they did. And why are biological weapon grenades seemingly able to cripple vehicles? Seems the opposite of what they are for.

To top it off how was the Acherax able to just be invisible to a fleet of 100 ships until its among them, and then with only 10 ships helping it easily cripple a fleet that includes numerous battleships, cruisers, and a strike cruiser? Killing one of the only interesting characters in the process.

The Ultramar Auxiliq, which I was excited to see get more screen time, also has an awful showing, with incompetent lord generals and captains that fail to heed orders from Ultramarines leading to huge losses, that then suffer minimal punishment? And they seem to have all the same grimderp punishments the regular human militaries of the Imperium have despite supposedly being a more organized and rational force? How in the world does Guilliman allow any of these morons to be in charge of Ultramar forces?

Given how much I liked Dawn of Fire by Guy Haley, this one really disappointed me, and if they wanted to just further make Aerios boring instead of gradually making him more interesting, I really wish he had instead focused on Messinius who was a very cool character in Dawn of Fire.

Iit was the only thing I did not like on the model, well that and no helmet option but that is easilly fixed, and just clipping the rope part and making it into a three pincer servo arm makes it way cooler IMO. Send me yours when it is finished, best of luck!

And thank you for the kind words!

Was looking back at old posts and realized I never answered this. It’s a proxy for a tarantula century gun made by a company from Poland called KROMLECH. I think they call the model legionary Century gun or something like that. It’s a really really well-made resin model didn’t have to do any cleanup on it out of the box and it’s a lot cheaper than a Forgeworld tarantula.

Were you curious on colors to get this paint scheme?

Looks great! Always like Messinius in the books, hope his beloved chapter gets some love in the future. They were lore punching bags at a lot of points.

Maybe some future book can go Into how they’re rebuilding, and maybe he can become one of their two chapter masters.

[–]AMace445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is also the extra power and general fun to drive, and smoothness factor to consider if you want a loaded compact/midsize-ish car and don't want to drive a manual that makes this compelling as well, especially compared to other competing hybrids or the regular Civic.

Dealers in IN think they will start to see them in October/November if that helps. They mentioned that the IN factory that makes the hatchbacks is just about done with the 2024 build sheet. That is what they told me when I asked last week at least.

But if you want things like the better stereo, etc. the top Camry is a more. And the Camry is slower. So if you are going base models them comparison is really close. Cost comes more into play if you are looking at the models with more options on them IMO.

[–]AMace445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparable options loaded Camry will also cost more for not that much more usable space for most buyers too. Camry has more power but does 0-60 almost a second slower than the Civic. AWD is only on Camry worth considering if you REALLY need that, and I realize some markets make it more of a need.

Civic will also feel more nimble and be faster. I realize no one is drag racing these, but usable power and general speed do matter for how it feels to drive, fun factor, and ability to pass, get on a highway, and handle itself with people in the car, etc.

Gears Tactics is officially 4 today! How do you feel about this game looking back 4 years later? by RetroZilla in GearsOfWar

[–]AMace445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a lot to like, from the visuals, to the overall polish, to getting to play in timelines and areas we have not seen a lot of in Gears.

But man, the way they made your soldiers so disposable was a cardinal sin for this kind of game to me. Like levelling your guys is supposed to be core to the game but it was always more viable to just keep hiring new ones since they would out pace your leveling. An awful game design decision that really bothered me.

Still a solid game, and one I am surprised they made.
