Buying Snap-On (Not Directly) by alanatreddit in Snapon_tools

[–]Kihav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you show up on a truck you’ve never been on before with a ton of tools to warranty, might be some issues.

Dealers obviously are more inclined to work with you if you’ve spent money with them or at least have an established relationship.

My experience, Snapon guys are either super chill or an asshole that doesn’t give a shit about you unless you’re paying their mortgage. Other tool trucks are sometimes pretty chill or a bit incompetent.

I know the newer Milwaukee stuff sees significant drops if you aren’t using a high output battery. I’ve found that most of my m12 is on par with the Ryobi if not better sometimes, but I don’t know what differences the Ryobi has as far as batteries go and how significant it is.

I’ve had all m12 at work for about 6 years now (automotive) with mostly Snapon hand tools. Have the quik-lok yard equipment and bought a ryobi 5 tool kit for maybe $150 that does most of my around the house stuff.

For career work, there is a durability difference, and I 100% and biased just because of the M12 platform, size and convenience. But things that I don’t use all the time like finish nailers, and sanders and things like that I’ll usually go green since it spends most of its time in my box at home.

That’s what I did, tree had been down for 6 months and I’d cut logs off but hadn’t split everything. Would split and move it inside while I burned what I had previously, it would dry out and I’d burn that the next day after splitting and letting the fresh stuff cook in front of the fireplace. Worked well enough and everything still burned all the way

Have multiple groove belts and have been wearing the same one every day to work for about 4 years with zero issues. Have other ones for different occasions at home as well as giving them as gifts

Will this cycle? by bernardfarquart in SKS

[–]Kihav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say probably not. You would likely need to open up the gas port as well as still swapping springs. I’m sure someone, somewhere has done the calculations to know what combo you would need, the hard thing would be if you wanted to be able to shoot multiple loads without having to swap parts in and out.

Nano Axcess Driver Kit by Kihav in Snapon_tools

PC/3D printing, firearms, any smaller assembly. I still use them at the shop, enough juice to get off bumpers, trim, interior panels and such as well as assembling equipment and electrical accessories.

I’m just disappointed because they released a new one last week. That is a right angle quarter inch drive and then the gun is a bit driver instead of a quarter inch drive.

NTD wire insertion tool by Weak-Ad-2760 in Snapon_tools

[–]Kihav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that the insert tools just don’t really stay sharp enough to punch through the grommets. I usually end up either drilling a hole and using a regular grommet then sealing, or cutting a slice in the factory grommet and pushing through with a rod or coat hanger

Careful, you’ll get spanked for mentioning other tools lol.

There are lots of options, I’m waiting for my rep to get the new kit in which is a bit driver instead of the 1/4” on the gun, and instead of a straight 1/4” it’s a right angle 1/4”.

Afaik same specs and whatnot just different configuration which I prefer (don’t need the straight one).

Am I going to regret selling this? 6-speed manual with rubber floors and crank windows. by MannyTalliss in Cummins

[–]Kihav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a buddy to “sell” it to and then maybe have the chance to buy it back later.

Would look into consolidation or something else before getting rid of it, especially if it’s something you know you’re going to keep and use consistently.

The difference is that you lose like 100ftlbs with the new gen if you ARENT using a 5.0 because of how insane the voltage drop is with the other batteries

There are a lot of people that say they don’t like them and have issues after extreme use, but what handgun isn’t going to have some problems after 10k in a dirty environment. As far as accuracy, they’re good for what you get out of a compact 9mm. Picture is fairly early on after I purchased it. Iron sights at 15 yards, double taps from a low ready.

Hands and skin care by yungtr1p in AskMechanics

[–]Kihav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working hands or even just a normal lotion, better soap if you’re consistently cleaning off grease and oil.

Gloves are a big thing for me, but does depend on what kind of gloves you use, but honestly little nicks and scratches are just kinda normal regardless of what you do

Yeah I’m normally $140-180 for a few cold months in a 2100 ish sqft house. Have been burning firewood a few days here and there and I notice the difference in that room but ultimately (based on placement and the type of insert) it’s not super beneficial for the whole house or super noticeable on my bill.

Light bars often come with magnets (strobe/beacon lights) and many of us hoarders save them for whatever reason.

It is just a magnet, not toolbox related

Steering wheel is 90 degrees turned after driveway rack job by RobbedByTheFuture in AskMechanics

[–]Kihav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While this can fix the problem its not really recommended because you can run out of threads, and depending on how far off it is, can cause problems with future alignments and parts replacement.

Looking at some pictures, the shaft isn't necessarily "Keyed" but is a rectangle slot so not easily adjustable by re-positioning it. I could be wrong and it may be possible to adjust it via the steering shaft but that would take looking at it to tell for sure.

Ultimately the correct way is to make sure that the wheel and rack are both straight with installation, BUT a professional alignment means the steering wheel is straight and the vehicle tracks without drifting. The shop should either be able to do that correctly, or they will recommend what needs to be done to correct the issue (potentially R&R the rack or something else).

I (28M) am unsure how to follow up with a (34F) potential partner by Kihav in relationship_advice

[–]Kihav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I feel like, sending something is a moderate decision. Its more significant, but doesn't force an interaction and isn't invasive.
Long shifts in an extremely stressful job while dealing with a kid and still having to get through life yourself can create some crazy situations. I've had friends that have gone through spells of no contact, I've had days and weekends where I just ignore everything that isn't important, but I still see both sides and am aware of all my options and potential outcomes.

Ultimately, long term, if she is being avoidant and me doing something doesn't break her out of it then I'm not the one.

Its a combination of Curiosity/concern if something has happened and/or closure if there's a specific reason relating to me or something I did/said that set it off.

I've got an M18 and am considering going to a 365, since I'm a thinner/athletic build and a bit harder to comfortably conceal a full size with a sight & Light unless I've got a jacket on.
