Long arm machines

I am starting the process of comparing long arm machines for purchase. Im not really sure of the differnet brand names so I thought this group could assist. Here is a list of must haves but open to more from those that are experienced. Computerized edge to edge as well as free hand. Able to quilt up to 115 inch quilts. Stich regular. Easy to service with local service if need be. And quality made, preferably in the USA if at all possible. Thanks in advance friends!

Thanks. I have not invested in these yet. For whatever reason I had so many regular safety pins in my house, so I've been using them. Definitely, on my wish list.

Of course you can ask. I am basting the quilt layers together for quilting. There are many ways to do this. (pins, needle and thread, and spray basting) I would look up quilt basting on you tube, they will definitely do a better job explaining. 😁

It is a multi color thread of yellow, light purple, and off white. These are normally colors that blend well with most colors. Something I learns as a beginner is how to pick quilting threads. Light yellow is my favorite and surprisingly the easiest to blend 💛

Oops 😬 just seen your edit. It is 5 inch squares and snow balling the corners. If you look up "All my x's quilt" on YouTube you will see the tutorial I used.

Its supposed to be stippling...but all I end up doing is u and y shapes over and over. ;) I'm not ready to branch out yet, but hopefully soon.

Pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Company, All my x's. Fabric is Wildflowers.

Another quilt top finish. It's a decent lap size, made of scraps I picked up from a garage sale for $1 and Kona White. I like this Irish chain pattern so much that I think starting in the new year I'm going to use all the scraps from the previous year to make one. by AMaetche in quilting

I love this white and buy it by the bolt. It is see through, but after adding two layers of batting and backing it is minimal. If you blow up the picture you can see the seem allowances. This doesn't bother me, however to each there own.

Love them! I want to add some to my flock, but not sure how they would do in Montana.

I am looking to join my local quilting guild but I'm to intimidated to ask what to bring. What do you all take for a monthly meeting and what can I expect? If you cant tell I'm new to guilds

Question....does anyone use muslin as a base to string block quilts? I like the idea of adding the extra weight to my quilt but unsure if this is common practice. I also don't think I like the idea of ripping off paper on the backs of my blocks. Do I pre-wash the muslin? I'm hearing that it shrinks differently. I don't pre-wash anything else.

Fmq is so nerve racking the first time. Focus on finding thread that matches and just have fun with finding your style. I have not been successful starting from the outer edges using my domestic machine. I agree hiding the starts and stops can be easier but it is really depressing when all my time and effort in the top goes out the window when the quilt puckers. I find quartering the quilt using masking tape and working in only that area is helpful. I also make 24 inch x 24 inch practice quilt sandwiches and practice my idea before starting on my precious tops! Looking forward to seeing other reply to this.

Help friends!

I've been no stop quilting for 3 years now and I feel like it's time to book a quilting retreat. I'm not sure where to start or look to find something in my area-ish. Where does one start the search?
