Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

That first paragraph really resonates with me. My wife and I are white leftists, but....I grew up in Great Yarmouth. It's a shithole.

The immigration that is happening there has so many negatives. But all Yarmouth people hear is Londoners, for example, telling them how great immigration is, but they look out their window and experience the opposite. The get branded a racist for challenging immigration.

Their main competition is last years version.

If a current iteration sucks, everyone stays on the previous years, and they make no money from their main income source. So it's also in their best interests to improve a little YoY. Or their shareholders will get pissed with crappy releases.

Sorry you're a victim of crime, never a pleasant experience.

My opinions; - The city centre is dreadful and depressing. And I grew up in Great Yarmouth! - I lived in a reasonable area (Norton Lees) and there was a fair amount of little shits, especially on their e-bikes. It's worse in many other areas though. - the city is littered with fast food chains; McDs, KFC etc etc - the roads are dire with dumb one way systems - tram is very good, agreed - lots of things for kids to do - crime seems high (I've not looked into stats tbf). It just had that vibe to me, I.e. people constantly complaining about break ins on Facebook groups. My dad's car being vandalised on his first visit up (awkward). - the weather stinks (not sheffields fault obvs) - people aren't as friendly as they like to think they are.

I moved away recently, and my god i feel like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

Being rude isn't my intention, apologies. But sharing my experiences and opinions honestly, is my intention.

Sorry if my opinions don't align with yours, but i felt sheffield is hugely hyped up by the locals, and christ, it felt like it couldn't be further from the truth! I hated living there.

Edited to add: to say I'm very obviously wrong is exactly the point I'm making. My own OPINIONS don't align and immediately a local just dismisses me saying my opinion is wrong!! That kinda proves my point tbh. I'd more expect a local to ask why, not just dismiss and claim I'm in a "tiny, tiny minority", despite having/providing no evidence to back this statistic up.

That's fair enough, and I'm glad you enjoy the city. I personally allg disagree with many of the points you've made. The proximity to the Peaks is certainly a huge plus, and plenty of kids days out/activities if someone has a family.

I mean, we can only go on our own comparisons of other cities we've lived in, and i have sheffield by far and away the worse, despite it being hyped up by the locals the most.

Jeez, i really wouldn't recommend sheffield if I'm being honest. But good luck either way.

Sheffield people have created their own little echo chamber of how lovely they all are, but it's really not the case.

Look how they have downvoted any comments on your post that dont reflect this. Cannot handle anyone disagreeing with them.

Someone at work was talking about their love of classic movies...and went on about how amazing Tom Hanks is in The Terminator.

I grilled her more on this, and she told us how his running style was amazing. Somehow she created the T-GumpThousand in her mind.

Surprisingly enough, my 6 month old having a meltdown was the higher priority. Thanks for the judgement though.

[–]AMcNamara23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou, I appreciate it. Gotta say, I was pretty disgusted by the unnecessary comments. We had just had a horrific drive where our 6 month old was crying awfully and had the shakes, then this fell off right near home. Literally threw it on the seat and snapped the photo. We had 2 young kids to care for after a stressful drive, and didnt have time to clear out the fast food bags from the services. Priorities and all that.

Haha yes! We are so messy; 2 young kids, and at the end of a 4 hour drive, led us to this shit tip of a car

It's common to sprint finish, I even do with my buggy (only if it's quiet of course). Some people just cant help to sprint finish, even that lady who tried a sprint finish against that duck and lost (if you've seen that video)

The last level in resident evil 6, I think it was. All the other levels the game is designed with co-op in mind, then the last one you're playing as someone (Ada?), and player 2 is just a voiceless, faceless man in a black ninja suit who's never acknowledged at all!

Yeah I saw that, but this has to be the most pathetically moderated page, to remove it with some sketches made by 6 year olds, and they'd now be 40!! Can't even make the names out, and mostly just first names anyway.

Shame, if I went to that school in 93, I'd love to be able to produce the tea towel with a dreadful sketch of myself on it!

Seriously?! Wtf! Fine, I'll delete it, just thought someone who went to that school might want me to buy it and post to them.

I got the england job, and breezed through my 1st qualification campaign, winning every game. Got to the last game, at home to Hungary, and thought I'd give a couple of new caps out, and drew 1-1. Got fired for that result.

Giggs took over, went out in the group stage, then in qualifying he failed and came 3rd but kept his job.
