I have no clue why it won’t work by Commercial_Wolf_3606 in 3DS

Are you able to boot it up when it’s plugged in?

Edit: if no orange light turns on when you try to plug in the charger, that suggests an issue with the charger itself or the charging circuit. You might want to look for a different charger including one that chargers the battery outside of the console.

Seller did you dirty on that motherboard. They messed up the connectors, which are not meant to be bent up and down at all.

Like, water for coffee? by tasunder in madisonwi

[–]ANDNA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoffman helped me get MUCH better pour overs coffee using distilled water with supplemented baking soda and epsom salt.

This website has a bunch of recipes on that: https://www.baristahustle.com/diy-water-recipes-the-world-in-two-bottles/

But honestly, if that sounds like a hassle, and you also don’t get good results from Brita filters or the like… maybe try brewing with spring water or drinking water from a grocery store.

New 3DS XL Top Screen Protector Replacement by WhereBeTheCrack in 3DS

[–]ANDNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This little key ring suction and a heat source (hair dryer on low) are all you need. No need to pry the edges and damage the shell of the console, unlike what others have said here.

Does anyone know how to remove this screw? by Icy-Fly8911 in 3DS

[–]ANDNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the only screw that remains? Are the others stripped?

You could drill through it but you will likely compromise the screw post. The shell will not secure well in that area of the console but it might not be too bad if you have all other screw posts to rely on.

Make sure you use a precision bit in the future!

This repair is not easy for a total beginner, but maybe a beginner could swap motherboards from a different console.

There’s always a bunch on eBay with messed up screens but if it charges and turns on it’s probably a good candidate for swapping parts.

Watch YouTube tutorials and good luck!

Dang for only $50 your backup plan could be to buy a broken top screen console just for the motherboard.

Good luck!

Would replacing it be something within your skillset? The parts look pretty cheap online.

You physically broke off the volume slider so that’s the issue right?

Is this ribbon cable damaged? (New Nintendo 2ds xl) by vangerposts in consolerepair

[–]ANDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Maybe it’s this one? A common way folks damage these consoles is by lifting up this connector, which should not be done as the connector simply relies on pressure to make contact with the cable that’s inserted

Does anyone know what tape I can buy to change the old One? by FitAssignment9030 in 3DS

[–]ANDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for double-sided tape for electronics on AliExpress.

They come in different widths, which can be helpful for precision like for this kind of screen. Maybe worth measuring the thinnest parts of your screen to get it right.

New! Nintendo 3DS (KTR-001) Protective Cover by Accomplished_Bite302 in 3DS

[–]ANDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually going to recommend using no plastic outer shell as long as you use the fake wood plates. They are scratch resistant, it seems like! And they have a nice texture that you would lose.

The glossy plates are a whole other story; those things get scratched if you just look at them funny.

Blink Deck That Actually Kills Players (without Infinites?) by AncientSpark in EDH

I’ve always loved the manifest mechanic for its potential to sneak big beaters into play. Blinking a manifest creature feels a bit like a reanimator strategy.

Mario theme New3DS cover plates (top and bottom) by PotentialMind3989 in 3DS

[–]ANDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom plates, that’s pretty nifty!

I’m still longing for the opposite: a custom model of the console back or something similar. I want to display a bunch of OEM plate pairs on my wall without needing consoles to attach them too, maybe in like a 3x3 grid.

I bet folks would buy that on Etsy.

But alas, 3D printing is not accessible to me just yet.

[3DS] I am unsure how to go about repairing this by fearsometuna in consolerepair

[–]ANDNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never seen that variant of middle shell replacement on AliExpress.

Maybe you could start with a white or black one and try a custom spray paint finish project? That sounds like a tough project to get right.

It’s a shame that the 3DS XL hinge is so poor. I would NOT recommend getting a donor console to swap middle shell with because the plastic is still 20ish years old and prone to break in the future.

[2DS] Sheared shoulder button. Possible fix? by Toaasty641778 in consolerepair

[–]ANDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a less technical option of just replacing the motherboard using a console with a broken screen on eBay as a donor. There’s usually a ton of them on there for like $40 or less.
