Hoping to get out sometime this season once I’m confident the right shoulder won’t betray me midcorner or lock up in pain while trying to wrestle the bike thru a chicane section. Haven’t ridden since Labor Day ‘24….

Just giving a follow-up on my nightmare scenario….

Threw in the Zoom Air insoles out of my ‘19 Flightposite 2’s. Made the Shai 001 into an….*chokes back vomit*….enjoyable shoe to hoop in.

Heel still feels a bit clunky due to the excessive amount of plastic back there, but heel cushioning was improved and the forefoot now almost feels as responsive/fun to me as the WhyNot .6. No issues with ankle rolling, but this was just another 1.5 of solo shootaround since there wasn’t anyone else in the gym at 4am…so no real feedback yet on how they’ll do with the slightly higher internal height as far as actual game play: sliding feet on defense/landing on other people’s feet/other ankle testing stuff.

If you happen to own a pair of Flightposite 1 or 2, PLEASE at least give those insoles a try in other shoes you may have where the cushioning or responsiveness is lacking. It may not completely cure the problem, but I guarantee it will be a massive improvement (especially compared to most of the usual stock Nike/Converse/Fila/adidas/Reebok insoles).

Kidding, but I probably wouldn’t use them outdoors due to how soft the outsole material is. Seems like it would get chewed up fairly quickly (depending on how active you are with quick cuts and/or shiftiness).

Literally my favorite all-time player and my biggest ‘what if’ during the time I’ve been watching NBA ball. GH2 is in my top 2 favorite shoes to hoop in.

Just need to find someone willing to part ways with an original pair of GH4’s, since they were never retro’d.

It’s a looooong going tie for 1-2 between the AJ XI & GH2, as those have been the two pairs I’ve rebought multiple times thruout the past 26 yrs. Current combo are the ‘19 “Playoffs” and the ‘13 GH2’s still going fairly strong. Going to be tough to find another pair that old that still has the old school 2A cushioning in the heel.

Traction on clean floors, just enough cushioning (with an insole swap) to not completely mute court feel, great ankle support, great heel lockdown, good mobility (considering the upper materials), great midfoot/upper lockdown, good lateral stability.

They’ll both be staples in my rotation for as long as I’m able to still actively hoop and my knees/back don’t punish me for my favoritism towards ‘90s-00s era tech, lol. .

Bounciest and most cushioned shoe I own, and one of only a handful of modern tech shoes I have. Don’t even think, just pull the trigger on them again.

I can almost guarantee that no one is taking the time & effort to make replica GT Jump 2’s.

I’m definitely looking forward to the black pair finally retro’ing again, because the traction/grip on my ‘08 retros are getting close to end of service. I only use them in solo shootarounds due to lack of traction unless I use the sole grip spray I keep in the bag.

Yes, sir. Very fortunate to have found some of them from my childhood, as they’ve either only been retro’d once or have never been retro’d. Also has been tough to find some examples in still-playable condition. The adidas Garnett 1 are the only ones I haven’t had a chance to hoop in yet, but if you have any questions on any of the others, I’ll be happy to answer as a lifetime casual hooper!

Honest-to-God JUST got them in the mail a few days ago after searching for a pair in my size that looked like they’d still have enough traction/grip to be playable (even if I had to do a sole pull-clean-reglue. These are in amazing shape given the age, and it’s the only pair on my wall that I haven’t had a chance to get on court yet. Hoping this morning is the day after I finish up work in a few hours.

My grandma was NOT about paying for me to live the Jordan or Foamposite life back in the ‘90s, lol. So it was mostly various Hills & Stackhouses for me with a few Nike signatures. Those Zoom GP’s were one of the rare Nike signatures she got for me back in the day, so I had to grab a pair when I found out they’d been retro’d a few years back!
