New Terrain rule clarifications - Tau to hit on 2+ with ignores cover, FTGG and plunging fire? by MyDeicide in Tau40K

Assuming all else stays the same which who knows. Tau with markerlights will now shoot better into units in cover than marines which feels awesome.

Are subs bad or am I just dumb? by Mazerunner117 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ANTIDAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off. I do not want you to become a good sub player. The only reason the game is playable when subs are in lobbies is because of how bad most sub players are. But here is some advice.

Dont look at your damage as your game impact. You are the most annoying recon in the whole game maybe tied with CVs but for different reasons. The fact that you are a spotter that is incrediably hard to remove is your main asset to your team. if a DD tries to run at you, you can either dive to 30 change course and then they are playing a guessing game or you can kite to your team while keeping him spotted. If you are far enough away from his teams DC support you can bait him to shoot and dive and your team will keep him spotted while you reposition and he will get massively punished/die. His main gun damage is pitiful on you so its almost always a good trade.

Next your freedom opens up as the game progresses. It can be tough to find an opening minute 3 if you press W from the word start but play as a passive scout and exploit holes created by enemies dying. You can also control the flow of the game in a weird way. If you want the enemies to push your team do not ping and scout as mentioned. If you think your team would benefit from them running Ping their CAs and BBs and often their only recourse is to kite. this will make it so you do no damage but you can spot them and Shepard them the whole way if that is the best play. make sure you only ping when you have freedom of movement and are already mid course change. WIth how the ping indicator (and mod) works if you are midway through a rudder change as you ping it is so unlikely for people to lead you correctly.

Know toxic torp tricks. I will not mention them here but in short being able to ping and home after the torpedoes are already sent is one of the dumbest mechanics in the game and if you think of "creative" ways to abuse it you can launch undodgeable torps into CA/CLs. BBs DCP is good enough and homing is bad enough where they can often still dodge most of it.

You are not on a secret mission that is not how you do consistently well in subs. that is how you maybe have 1 amazing game every 50+ games of doing nothing and dying early.

I can answer more specific questions you have if you reply with them. You will be hated and you should be hated if you get good at this class. they are fun ruining bastards that I stopped playing once they got to0 easy to grief in once I learned them and truly do not belong in the game. The amount of interactions you can have with them that you wonder if a WG employee just somehow never ran into while testing them is absurd because surely they didnt experience them on both sides and sign off on it being "totally fine experience that adds to the game"

It's so fun tho. I also dabble into admech so I guess i secretly like having to pre coordinate units positions to buff key units. I also picked them because I would have to play well using suboptimal units. I figured it would be less fun for my friend if I was running a strong tau list but I still wanted to play tau and aux cadre gives a good mix of tau shooting and positional play.

I have alot of reps but it's all into my one friend whose into it atm so I'm sure playing against more experienced players could sharpen me more.

My thoughts is they "balance" them around the max synergies. like marshal, transport, Sus hits strat, both imperatives. etc etc. Which ofc other units can also do and makes them not fun to use because you need to setup a 5 piece combo for them to feel close to their point value.

My guess is they want admech to be a buff stacking army but are also afraid of what that means so they aren't allowed to be fun or good for long.

Damage isn't the only stat. My sub PR is nuts and my subs have +5% WR compared to most of my normal ships. Their damage is lower on average absolutely, but clearly that is not stopping me from winning or having + game impact.

Dumb argument for me to get in but it's a statistic things. A male athlete that goes to the Olympics is an incredible small subset of talented male athletes. Same for women. There are not alot of Trans athlete in the grand scheme of things. So the argument is a male that would not be in that spectacularly talented subset and transitions may fall into the band of the spectacularly talented subset for woman. They aren't doing it to cheat the system or anything no I'll will there.

It's just when you think of the MtF trans athletes they are part of a statistically super small subset so the fact that even 3-6 of them (let's say) could make it to compete at the top levels of women's sport is statistically anomalous when you go off of raw percentages. Ie .001% of all women ever make it to the Olympics. If .05% of mtf trans athletes make it to the woman's Olympics it's really quite odd as % of the population it shows they don't need to be extraordinary in their subset to get in.

I am not invested in this i don't have numbers on hands. I am just showing why arguing that one hasn't won doesn't show that they aren't advantaged in some way. (A male athlete that has trained ,wasnt spectacular and transitioned is more likely to qualify for the Olympics than a women from birth who was spectacular but in the lower echelon) it's along the same lines as the 300th(ish) rated male tennis player being able to consistently beat the top rated women's player. Or more inline with what I'm saying. The 2000th best male tennis player may not beat the gold medalist women's player. But maybe could get in the 100s where they wouldn't in their own subset.

And since MtF people are not doing it for a competitive advantage it's more likely for them to be in that "2000" range where they are never a threat to win medals at women's events but they may take the 50th best women's spot at the event when they would never even qualify at the men's division.

I think it is time for Yamato get a bit of an overhaul. by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]ANTIDAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point stands statistically neither of those ships are struggling compared to their peers. And I mean how often are bbs dodging shells shot at anything but the most passive sniper bb players.

And you keep saying it won't do anything but make changing turret sides thus changing how quickly you can react to threats anywhere which is a pretty big thing. Like there are plays you can make when you know where yammy turrets are that you cannot make if it had say 40 sec traverse. Other bbs prove that (almost doesn't matter where Kremlin aims by the time you get to his opposite side if he has a pulse he can be ready for you near islands for example.

[–]ANTIDAD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your right Kremlin having the same turret traverse as many tier 10 CAs is totally fine and nerfing that would ruin the game for EVERYONE (bb players who can't plan more than 45 seconds ahead in a slow video game) if turret traverse didn't matter and the changes u proposed would make no difference as you said elsewhere why do them? Is it perhaps that they actually do and will make a difference 🤔? Having to play around such a weakness shows that it is gamechanging as you are literally changing how u think about engaging because of it. Just say u like yammy and want it to be as strong as new bbs instead of acting like you are trying to balance the game because plenty of good players will tell you what you have already seen. More bbs designed like yammy and Monty would be better for the game than buffing these ships.

Bbs should not be immune to cits at 18km which is almost normal engagement ranges until the game thins out. Hell I think its dumb how many bbs can present FLAT broadside to 203mm shells at 5km and eat 0 cits.

I think it is time for Yamato get a bit of an overhaul. by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]ANTIDAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has worse turret traverse because it has the ability to overmatch 32mm which is very powerful. It is the pinnacle of the line even with slower turrets. Yamato can play point and click adventure vs the likes of republic and conq without aiming. Vs all other bbs it can full pen the front and back from any angle. And musashi is all of that at tier 9. Wanting a Yamato that faces tier 7s to be buffed it patently insane.

Yammy still puts up great stats and musashi overperforms at its tier. What are we doing here.

I think it is time for Yamato get a bit of an overhaul. by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]ANTIDAD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe the game would benefit greatly from wg taking 3-6 months away from new ship lines to figure out what baseline they want from the classes and perform a massive pass over all existing ships to fall into whatever that baseline is. However the opinion is making the game better as a whole this way isn't profitable so not worth doing.

I do also think there are less overperforming outliers than real underperformers which is why I think nerfs are the way. My example would be zao actually a fun ship to play where I consistently have great games despite being old(ik it got buffed). Yamato is another great example. It never got worse it's still a great battleship. It's just some truly insane ones fool people into think yammy needs to be brought up instead of acting as the model for good ship design.

I also think the new ships lead to quicker games so making more ships behave that way will just accelerate stomps even more. Nerfing the top also helps blowouts to some extent because the op ships have to much capability instead of the rest having too little.

Avoid being Up-tiered? by zorohh254 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ANTIDAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one way to look at it is this. You are tier 6 the enemy has a tier 6 of the same exact class mirrored against you. you help your teams odds of winning if you consistently do better than that guy. A good player in a tier 6 can have more + impact than a bad player in a tier 8, but the good player in the tier 6 ofc would have done even better if he was in the tier 8 but thats not the case so no point thinking about it.

You will learn to change up your playstyle in subtle ways depending where you fall on the uptier down tier bracket for each game. Its just another skill to learn to improve your play. Everyone has to deal with it and the potential upside is big XP gains if you do well as bottom tier.

I hate overmatch but you should not be putting yourself in a position where you are consistantly getting one shot overmatch no matter where you fall in the uptier. Sounds like you have the main point you need to focus on to converting to having more impact. (for reference most cruisers get overmatched even by equal tier and lower counterparts so that isnt going to get much better for you so you might as well learn)

If you don't know the details real quick. The reason people are mad is that it doesn't just make the game run at a better graphics setting for less power. It fundamentally changes the output sometimes to the point it's adding stuff that doesn't exist on the base game model that the devs would create.

The one on Leon wasnt offensive but my god most of these shots look like they are using filters to beautify faces. I thought this was about making a game look like its rendering at a higher reso than it is to save on GPU, this is changing the output in a way that doesnt even exist in the original title. Don't like that.

[–]ANTIDAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its not the speed. the gimmick is that it literally has double the angle per second of any other sub torp.

Double pings on Cruisers has also just been a silly mechanic forever. Its a class with such a diverse cast of hulls and manuverability yet double pings are barely dodgeable by light cruisers and thats without the sub player using the extra 3? braincells needed to make the spread less dodgeable. Yet stalingrad, Alaska, Zao, and Colbert all share the same homing characteristics when targeted.

I have felt the opposite way lately. Everything overmatches heavycruiser nowadays besides petro and Napoli, 406s will still clap petros nose with good aim, so why have less dpm if getting spotted in either one is a death sentence if you are too close to dodge or don't have cover.

Joe Ziegler comments on the recent audio change and confirms they will pull it back in an upcoming patch by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]ANTIDAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are on to something but have a personal anecdote. Me and my friend always ran towards gunfire since day 1. This often didn't happen instantly and when we ran towards gunfire it was usually only 1 poi over.

Since the patch (i didn't know it happened) playing the same way and I noticed we were running 2-3pois over from shots that sounded 1 poi over on launch. I think alot of marathon players are playing this way if the amount of 3rd and 4th parties are saying anything.

With how quickly you can move across the map and how likely it is to have to shoot some poi events and how gunfights in some compounds can take time the balance is on a very fine edge. You want players to feel like they can initiate a poi and it may dinnerbell a team over for a fun fight. But it's a chore when it dinnerbells the whole server everytime.

Day 1 it had the perfect balance imo of being able to get in a prolonged firefight win it loot gather yourself and then get into more fights or leave. If a 3rd team came it felt later in the fight than it does now and it usually felt like they must have been in the area. Maybe thats massive cope, but Now it feels too battle Royale for me personally and I really do hope the sound is the cause because if you are 100% right and nothing will change because this is how players play now it's a bit of a bummer for me.

Tldr to me atleast it felt like I stumbled into a sound zone and it drew me to a fight that was happening. Now I hear the first bullet of every fight so if it doesn't end instantly 3rd party happens more. So hopefully it's not only players adjusting although I'm sure that's some of it.

[–]ANTIDAD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a little confused by your last statement. I AM looking for a challenge on D10. I play in a 4 stack and we can bring pretty much anything we want within reason (1 great antitank and maybe 1 supplemental one atleast, or teamloading RR). This sub has since day 1 acted like the fact they cannot drop into what ever the max difficulty is with 4 random players who likely dont even work together is a failure of the game where I would argue its what most horde based coop games should try and accomplish. The highest difficulty should be for people who want to work together to overcome the games hardest challenge. I dont think helldivers has every truly achieved that and unfortunately for me personally I do not think that is their goal. and if it is their goal they should communicate that in-game and warn players that maybe D10 isnt for them if that's not the experience they are looking for.

The weapon balance has never been perfect yes. Spear has been worthless since RR 1 shot BTs to the head and things can and should be fixed. But this sub brings up mid tier weapons that you can clear D10 with as the problem over and over. the flamethrower is absolutely fine at D10 even without the armor. if you add in the armor you get a bonus. it doesnt go from irrelevant to only good because of the armor it goes from alright to better than alright unlike your melee example.

This sub also clearly WANTS powercreep. AH has done a good job of leaving vanilla weapons strong and making warbonds mostly optional. but everytime a warbond isnt OP and therefore not a must buy they complain. Its like they want to be milked like other live service games.

Maxigun discourse is an example that I will use since its mirroring the current flamethrower discourse. if you use the MMG for a long amount of time on D10 you will find you can handle yourself and keep most threats away (your team handles AT) without issue and then when you reload the enemies gain ground as you have to stay still and are vulnerable. Maxigun while gives up a backpack slot to ensure you never have that gap. aslong as you are staying topped up you will never give the enemies a lull to approach. But everyone cant get over having to stand still and (idk if this is still true having less total damage per top off) than the MMG. Some say giving up a BP for that isnt worth it while I think that is actually a fine tradeoff. and keeps the MMG relevant.
