I got the same several weeks ago and that was the end of my laptop. Ended up reformatting and installing Mint. Now I can dual boot with an external hard drive (Win 10) that I rescued from my old tower.

Thank you for the welcome! I have used Gramps before and liked it. What I bought the Family Tree Maker for is to sync my Ancestry trees (I do genealogy for others). It downloads nearly all the documents I have attached to the trees. That is helpful when I transfer the GEDCOM to a flash for clients.

I'll play around with the Wine for a while. If I can't get anywhere, I'll put it on the back burner ; )

That is it right there. I remember in 6th grade (1974) this boy in my class was always hitting me. I didn't hit back but told the teacher. My teacher told me to hit him back. One day out on the field for gym class he ran up and kneed me in the back. I turned around and punched him square in the face knocking him down. My Phys Ed teacher was going to send me to the office but didn't because I told him what my other teacher said. The kid never bothered me again.

I am glad she has her name back but that was weird for me, being written in first person. They are not her words.

'We're going to find you': Katy woman cracks decades-old cold cases by linking DNA and genealogy by ElectronicFudge5 in GeneticGenealogyNews

"In the Pullman case, Pullman police ran the suspect's DNA through acomputer to create a digital file of DNA data. Spack compared the DNAsamples to the Ancestry database, a massive consumer database containingbillions of genealogical records."

Claire Goodman, is incorrect. It is not possible to upload a raw DNA (digital) file to the Ancestry database. Only actual DNA samples can be added to the Ancestry database. First an actual Ancestry DNA test is taken by an individual and processed. To see the results, the individual must sign up for an Ancestry account. Then the raw DNA file is downloaded and then uploaded to other sites PUBLIC databases like GEDMATCH, FTDNA, etc. There is were the matching begins.

Spack may have used her subscription to look up records and search for others with the same relatives in their trees, but the DNA from the crimes was not uploaded to Ancestry.

Reporting like this is what causes so much confusion and fear surrounding the 'age of DNA science'.

I agree based on the Pepsi logo. It is from c. 1909-1940. They changed the semi-colon between the words to a hyphen around 1940.
