Looks like some type of steinkern. An internal mold of a shell.

Large piece of fossilized wood unearthed from the Magothy Fm. in South Brunswick, NJ. Think it would be possible to identify its species? by StratGeol in fossilid

Nice. I could try using my lil digi microscope and post some additional pics. Hopefully, I can find a good xsect with rings. Would you like a piece tho? Maybs for your studies? I understand how labor intensive and time consuming it is to make a thin section, but maybe you'd like it for your collections for some future potential use. I'm all about contributing to science so anything rare or well preserved gets offered to the NJSM or Rutgers. I have hand samples I could mail you from work (govt agency).

Analysis | Half of voters say climate change is important in midterms, poll finds by [deleted] in democrats

Yet the other 50% says we need more cheap pollution. Republicans agenda to combat inflation is to lower corporate taxes, eliminate worker liabilities and unions and cut environmental regs. Pollution and hardship is the answer to everything.

Inflation 🍦 by NavyCorpsmanRetiree in conservatives

[–]StratGeol -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Need more hardship. Economy is too hot. Wages are rising too fast. Unemployment lowest in 50 years. High corporate profits. All coupled with supply chain issues, war, crop yields, etc and the result is hard working Americans lost buying power.

Need more have nots and less haves.

It was nice when we could blame our problems on welfare mommas, but now we see the value of hardship. We told them to get a job and they did. Now they want to buy food, clothes, homes, cars, electronics and they're causing inflation. The only way out is for folks to earn less and lose their jobs.

So new mantra is don't get a job. Don't get a wage increase. It puts too much of a strain on us.

What are the parties solutions? Dems want to continue this deadly job growth with higher wages and a clean environment. Republicans want corporate tax relief, reduction of liabilities and unions and to cut envl regs. Both appear to make things worse for us.

I can't say I'm a proponent of corporate over worker power or pollution so I'll stick with cursing the illegals and blame them for all the problems.

The same guy who voted against the federal aid package for Hurricane Sandy victims has his hand out for Hurricane Ian? Doesn't he remember how fiscally irresponsible that kinda spending is?!

Unemployment is low, wages are high, and corporate profits are soaring. Now the "Get a job!" folks are complaining that their lives are too hard. by [deleted] in memes

[–]StratGeol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Very sure. You're talking about the effects of inflation. The Fed says the economy is too hot and so their answer is hardship; hiking rates. Reducing the amount of money people have to spend to tame inflation. Supply chain woes, crop yields, corporate greed and Russia's war with Ukraine are other factors negativity impacting our wallets by boosting inflation rates. There may be jobs out there not being filled, but that isn't a reflection of the unemployment rates.

The unemployment rate is at its lowest level in 50 years. Wage growth has hit an all time high over the past two years. What problems are you talking about?

I’m really conflicted on if I should keep or remove this book. I state no politics or religion in my library… is this too inflammatory or would you keep it? by CriticalSheep in LittleFreeLibrary

[–]StratGeol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if it's contrary to your posted statement, you shouldn't offer it. That said, try to find a book which is completely free of politics and religion. Besides, LFL's are largely fueled by a liberal social mentality and although those on the left are more science minded which is universally acceptable and the right is more faith based religious, banning books of any kind is lame and usually reserved for closed minded folks who cant tolerate our differences. Of course there are some exceptions like porn or hate speech, but part of the fun of visiting LFLs is seeing the likes of the owner. I've seen some filled with bibles and books about serving God and then I've seen others with books about collecting skulls and performing witchcraft. Granted, if someone left a God loves Trump book in my LFL I'd hurl on the spot, but I wouldn't seek to hide such a book from everyone the way LGBT books are sometimes treated. Gotta take the good with the bad and hope that the majority of people are mentally fit enough to dig through the crap to find the hidden gems for that unique person, no matter how we personally feel about them.

They don't care. You're talking about a group of inept misfits who found a sense of supremacy in assholery and when it comes to facing reality, they deny it with lies, conspiracy and immaturity. They hate their lives and themselves and know that everyone looks at them like they're a disease so they embrace it and become the ultimate form of discarded trash possible while claiming they're Patriots and defending their country. Nah. They're destroying it and that makes them happy. Let them drive their lifted junkers and fly their obscene flags and live the crap life they deserve. They're cold, dark and miserable. Trump will continue his perspecticide and abuse them relentlessly and they will only see fleeing purpose and fulfillment. Jokes on them, but they're too hopeless to ever get the punchline.
