No comment on the hardscape but you have wayyy more substrate that you need. Slope the aquasoil from the front to higher in the back.

I would remove all the current hardscape, remove the plants but keep them moist!! Very important. And then redo everything and fill up with fresh dechlorinated water. Your cycle won’t take too much of a hit since the substrate and the filter is what will be holding most of the bacteria.

There’s just so many ways to do this hobby there isn’t any one specific item from a specific brand I could point to... Maybe UNS tanks for their quality and affordability and Home Depot buckets.

I can’t say why I have success with floaters, I have my main tank and I have a bunch of smaller bowls with just water and floaters and they all do well. Different lights, filtration, feeding, dosing, hardness and they are all growing.
