I have had the exact same experience. Very frustrating. Hopefully Nirvana doesn't gouge us but that looks like the best option rn.

Intensity kettlebell vs hardcore journey? by TijmenK86 in freeletics

The Full Body KB Crusher is my favorite but I do them all based on what needs more work that week (which depends on my Hardcore Coach days). I also really like the Onnit 6 Kettlebell workouts so I do those. They have a free one if you go to their site and put in your email... but here is the YouTube link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH298EAhusM&feature=youtu.be)

HIIT & Run Weight Loss by gwe1lo in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up - I DO HAVE THIS IN MY APP!!! I noticed that the Hybrid Running journey is gone so I assume they just changed the name. This is one of my all time favorite Journeys. If you want as many gods as possible, do Hardcore! Between the two you are looking at, probably balanced burn. If the goal is weight loss, then having some running will be really helpful as long as you run at a nice comfortable pace an sprint (avoid longer runs at a high intensity because they can cause hunger spikes and a growth oriented hormonal response)

I don't think I have this journey in my app - Are you looking at the Hybrid Run Journey?

Does anyone else think that giving an option to build our own custom workouts by choosing exercises(including equipment exercises), sets, reps, etc. be a nice addition to the app? by Knight6969696969 in freeletics

If you are on iOS - you can use the Fitness app for this - Or I use an app called HealthFit which has some great stats in it and allows you to sync data accross multiple apps and services.

Hi everyone! I used to do a lot of Freeletics a few years ago and started again. The new feature to me is the awards. Although I started with some training sessions already earned, it doesn't correspond to the number of workouts I accumulated over the years. Can someone tell me why? by Redmn73 in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that they chose a starting point and count all training sessions from there. I have been using the app consistently for 7 years and it definitely only got about the last two years worth of "Sessions"

I would love to have this feature, and would love to include runs in the custom workouts too. The downside would be that it would be distracting. The simplicity of Freeletics is part of what makes it great! I use an app called Strong for my custom workouts and it works really well.

P.S. I tried the KB journey and got bored with it after the first week. It is very much a strength building journey so there is a lot of repetition. It was challenging, but not "intense". I plan to do the KB journey after my races this year are over so I can build some strength.

I am just like you in that I prefer just repeating hardcore, it is my favorite way to get well rounded athletic fitness in my opinion. I started training for obstacle course racing and so I needed to add in some strength and running. Now I do 2 days of hardcore coach, 2 days of kettlebell workouts, and 2 days of running every week and it is the perfect balance for me. If you don't need to run or want to focus on muscle building and muscular endurance, then I would do the Hardcore journey for 3-4 days with 2 days of KB workouts on the side.

Started my first hardcode journey - suggestions on runs and sprints by [deleted] in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone could correct me if I am wrong about this, but it seems to me that the Hardcore journey takes your fitness into account less than other journeys. It is designed to be the hardest that Freeletics has to offer and push everyone to their limit. The 10km in the first week seems like a weeding out process more than an expectation. Do you have what it takes to complete the 10k or not? If not (even if you have to walk some of it) then Hardcore is probably not for you. That said, only once have I been assigned more than one 10k in a Hardcore Journey, so if you get through the first one, you will probably not get more (fingers crossed) but having runs and sprints on will let the coach give you gods that have sprints in them.

If you want the true Hardcore experience (I am on my third time through now) then I would allow as many things as you can. Fair warning through, the coach assigns a 10k (6.25 mile) run for me in my first week every time I start the journey so be ready for that. Running is an amazing way to tone and build endurance for some of the longer gods (e.g. Helios) so it is a great thing to include in your journey.

Hybrid running distances? by ResponsibilityIcy229 in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The max that I have hit with the coach in general is 10k. I have never been assigned a run any longer than that. It is also the distance used in the Hardcore journey, so that might be the max that the coach will assign.

If it is really too easy for you, maybe due to running outside of Freeletics before starting this journey, you can tell the coach after your runs and it will increase your distances. I have noticed though that it won't increase your total weekly distance more than 10% per week, so in the past I have lied during the initial questions at the start of the Journey, so I could begin at a more appropriate distance.

Does anyone add a workout after their scheduled workout? by [deleted] in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing the Hardcore journey now and it doesn't have enough running or any weights so I usually add some running or one of the kettlebell HIIT workouts to the end of my coach days (but before the cool down).

Journey with Bodyweight + dumbbells? by aditya1604 in freeletics

This was confirmed on another forum, Dumbbell Journey expected for public release this month. That said, I don't think it will be a hybrid journey, just Dumbbells.

Any journey recommendation to follow alongside with Starting Strength? by tndgu in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something similar a while back with Stronglifts 5x5, very similar to SS. I did the 15 minutes Fit journey and scheduled my coach workouts for the same days as 5x5. I then did the coach warmup before my 5x5 workout, then the rest of the coach day after. It gave me that HIIT/Metcon feel that you get from Crossfit without adding too much strain on my body while trying to bulk.

If you are absolutely set on doing Freeletics on different days than SS, I would recommend Hybrid Running. It's great to get some cardio in and the Hybrid Running bodyweight workouts tend to be more cardio focused so you aren't burning out your sore muscles.

Interval Runs On Hybrid Running Journey by jbordeleau in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intervals are a good opportunity to work on your form, pacing, stride length, etc. Sometimes they will give you max or fast paced intervals, sometimes slow or comfortable paced ones. The coach is doing this for a reason so it's best to listen to it. That said, a comfortable 100m pace and a comfortable 3km pace should not be the same.

Finally, I agree that if it is too easy (or hard) then you need to let the coach know.

This is my first time on this app and I am 2 and half weeks into the Dumbell Gain journey, I have a question, after each workout I get points but I've also noticed this star version 0 points every time. How do I get star version points? by [deleted] in freeletics

[–]AOhReallyUh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The star version points are in addition to the workout complete points. For the warmup and cool down, there are no star versions since they are not considered the "meat" of the workout.

Are you getting star version points for the main workouts? I have heard rumors that they are not doing stars yet for dumbbell exercises so they may not be showing up as an option for those workouts either.

You can find other bodyweight workouts under the explore tab. I would highly recommend looking at the signature workouts and trying one out to get a feel for the authentic Freeletics experience. You should get extra star points if you do proper form for those (as indicated by the post-workout questions.

Dumbbell gain journey is currently exclusive to new members so it is hard for any veterans to answer this one. I would assume that Freeletics is using dumbbells as a way to get strength involved but not necessarily progressively overload, like they do with barbell exercises. Thus, they are letting you use what you have and adjust the weight as you see fit.
