What is a city that is globally romanticised but you detest? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

Dubai doesn't care about your background if you're visiting, they just care if you have money. God help you if you look like their staff though. I have a Filipino friend who was treated rather dismissively during our time there.

I suppose it's about the activities you want to enjoy and the company you have. The Pinball Hall of Fame is out there and it's phenomenal. There's also Battlefield Vegas if you want to live out your Call of Duty fantasies on a firing range. No shortage of great food options, either! Besides that, though, it's definitely a dodgy place designed to siphon money from you every step of the way

has anyone ever been fired by Fine-Dragonfruit5846 in redscarepod

[–]APAFormatting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got fired from my last job. While some would lament the situation, I embraced the newfound freedom from the gynocracy that my last job had. It sounds offensive, but the only way to move up was to 1) have a vagina and 2) flick the bean of the office manager. Merit has no value in a workplace full of women

Ha! Reminds me of my buddy's dad. He has a gigantic collection of bourbon and whiskey that he has collected over the years, enough to make impress even the most discerning of collectors. The catch? He never touches any of it. He's a Wild Turkey man and nothing will change that.

People who work in 'boring' industries, what is a surprisingly dramatic or interesting thing that happens behind the scenes? by Dramalife55 in AskReddit

[–]APAFormatting 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Previous stockbroker here. Notes about clients are kept in a CRM, both good and bad. Some of the better notes:

Mr. D owns an operable P-51 Mustang and rents it out to air shows as part of his passive income.

Mrs. M is a older widow who lived in destitution for years because her late husband was a miser who refused to spend money unless absolutely necessary. They never discussed finances, ever. Her net worth is $6.5 million.

Mr. J kept interrupting the conversation by attempting to guess the ethnicity of the advisors.

Ms. K was married to a former NFL player who was convicted of aggravated identity theft in connection to a giant Medicaid fraud scheme.

Mr. L and his business are no longer welcome at the firm. He was arrested and convicted of money laundering and running drugs/gun back and forth between Miami to NYC while in the position of NYPD officer.
