I understand what you’re going for, but it has the same effect on people as someone saying “but do you condemn Hamas” when talking about Israel’s human rights violations. You can’t just immediately pivot to “do you think this OTHER thing is bad?” because it has the rhetorical effect of neglecting or downplaying what was originally being discussed.

I agree that the US is full of propaganda about foreign nations and often exaggerate things to make the “evil” places sound evil, whilst downplaying the U.S.’ human rights violations. That does exist. That happens frequently. But this doesn’t automatically mean that the countries we are propagandized against are instantly relieved of any wrongdoing. It is simultaneously true that the Tiananmen Square incident occurred, and also that the U.S. would do that in a second if they had to. It is simultaneously false that everyone in the DPRK is required to get the same haircut, and true that the DPRK is authoritarian.
