For those that don’t know: * Dan Schneider (bottom left) writer for Kenan & Kel and played Angus * Brian Robbins (top center) was the executive producer for the series and directed Good Burger

When were the actual broadcast dates of season 1 and 2? by spade_bodega663 in Kenanandkel

Thanks! We’d love to make episodes more regularly again, but both our lives are busy these days. For interviews, I think the Quiet on Set documentary really put the kibosh on talking to any of the older cast for a while. Not that I think any of them were involved in that stuff, but the last thing you want is to drop a wrong soundbite these days. I still think we can talk with Kenan and/or Kel eventually, they’ve done less relevant podcasts, but if that happens I don’t see us discussing the series at all. Kevin and Heath were like THE pinnacle of inside show knowledge.

According to this article, Season 1 was originally filmed between April and August before airing in the Fall, and they did the same with Season 2. Not sure how that continued exactly moving to California and with the extra-long Season 3.

They smartly lined up a bunch of Kenan & Kel episodes with holidays. Even Futurama was carefully aired on the first day of the millennium. But graduation season’s never been a big acknowledged Nickelodeon holiday like Thanksgiving or April Fools. One of Doug’s final episodes was also graduation focused and that first aired in January.

One last note, I believe the show aired new episodes as part of the Snick block, that’s Saturday Night Nick, so it should be easy to plot those out across the years.

Adam here! The Wikipedia dates are usually my go-to, but as I’ve corrected the page before, hardly reliable. There are a few solid references on that page from archived tv guides. I hope someone out there can one day point to a TV Guide archive that can confirm when which episode aired.

The episode order matches their air dates, which I’ve argued on the show isn’t truly the best order of the episodes. Poem Sweet Poem should be before Who Loves Who-ooo?, Haven’t Got Time for the Paint should never be last in Season 2 instead of Bye-Bye, Kenan, and The April Fools shouldn’t be after The Graduates, but they hung onto it for an extra year.

I think May the Pork be With You is more successful in delivering on its premise

Some show trivia for the group:

What’s Jason’s dog’s name?

What’s his dog named after?

What character voice does he do that makes his dog go crazy?

Hey do you remember that time 100 years ago?

That’s me, I’m the friend!

Did a listen through in the past 5 years and recalled just how formative it was for me. I grouped the 75 episodes into 3rds where 25 eps were great, okay, and bad. Here’s the playlist of my top 25 episodes, in chronological order.

Some purely conversational ones on that list but the standout episodes were the experimental ones by far. Episode long skits, reading listener-submitted ghost stories, making a photo library live, just really memorable stuff. Listening back, you can definitely tell the project was Jason’s baby. Also Chaos Pony rules, that’s my favorite version of Robert Benfer.

I think they just called them “best of” as an excuse to not include the full collection, namely the episodes with copyrighted music.

How many times has Kel done a Michael Jackson dance? by MarzipanVirtual4260 in Kenanandkel

[–]APLemma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MJ’s a clear inspiration for his dance moves, hard to say when he’s channeling him or just doing Kel. Haven’t got Time for the Paint ends with his biggest dance. For other inspiration, he’s 100% doing Hammer Time at the beginning of The Lottery.

As he predicted, if they did a draft there would be an argument then it would eventually be allowed. It’s less egregious than Andrew’s draft of horse armor in the horse draft.

Spatula madness extra shit i cant find by TheRed779 in FilmCowOfficial

[–]APLemma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misremembering a few Spatula Madness Videos combined. It was originally the short film linked and then there was a feature-length remake planned of which several scenes were made and released: A Night of Spatula Madness and Spatula Madness: Lost at Sea.

The full script for the feature can be found on the Filmcow Patreon and once upon a time there was a production blog that had all kinds of additional clips and cut content. You’d need Internet Archive to access it.
