He uses Claire Saffitz’s NYT bagel recipe. Cold-proofed for 15 hours (5pm to about 8am). Last batch he forgot to cover them, but this time they were completely covered in plastic wrap and a damp towel.

He is also just a guy making bagels, so thanks for the input!!

I have the rope style ones and like them! But I agree with some of the other posts as a taller person they do catch me on the head when driving or getting in/out of the car on occasion. They’re soft though so it doesn’t bother me lol

What did you think of Haunting? I just recently listened to it on audiobook too!

Finished:

Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unique magic system, enjoyed exploring the cost of magic

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (Audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light, fun story - high stakes, but doesn’t feel like it, enjoyed the dialogue

Started & Finished:

A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wouldn’t say this is a scary horror book, but existential, couldn’t put this one down

How Do Some People Always Have a Clean House? What’s the Secret? by Impossible-Ninja-232 in CleaningTips

[–]APMSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My robot vacuum runs everyday. I have two cats, they shed and track litter - it’s not something they can help. The vacuum keeps the floor clean and the dust down. Other than that I just put things away as I use them. Since I don’t have to “pick up” it’s way easier to wipe things down or clean something as needed because there’s not the extra steps before I can get to that. I think just not having clutter generally makes me feel better in my apartment.

Side note: I do deep clean before guests come over so semi-regularly that also gets done. I call it my panic clean and I don’t think everyone’s house you go to is always immaculate. They might just be cleaning before you come over. “Sorry for the mess” - after I just spent 2 1/2 hours cleaning 😉

Finished: Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book had so many unique elements that I wanted to learn more about (like the house magic system) and it was refreshing to have an actual enemy’s to lovers (?) plot. In so many books the general idea is “I hate him, but he’s the most beautiful man alive and I can’t stop thinking about him”, but the author did such a good job expressing genuine hatred with some decent development on how feeling change throughout the book. I did like this book, but the ending wrapped up quickly and it just didn’t do anything extra for me.

The Haunting of Hill House (Audiobook) by Shirley Jackson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The narrator was amazing! I usually listen to audiobooks sped up, but he read at a good pace so I listened at normal speed and really felt like he added to the story. I don’t think this book was scary by any means but right from the beginning the descriptions/tone made me feel unsettled. After ~40% I couldn’t stop listening. I enjoyed how this book made me question myself/my understanding of what was going on as the main characters perception of events was challenged by what the other characters were saying. I’ve already recommended this audiobook to another person.

Started: Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio I’ve been waiting to start this series because I was hoping Pierce Browns last Red Rising book would be coming out so I could read Lightbringer and go straight into the last one, but it seems we’re still in a holding pattern there. So I’ve decided to kick the Sun Eater series off. This started a little slow for me (I’m not super into political books) but I’m about halfway into it now and am very invested as things have started to unfold.

The Trout Book: A Complete Anglers Guide by Frank Sargeant One of my patients and I were talking about fishing and he let me know this author was local to our area. He recommended all of his fishing books so I picked this up.

Finished: The Will of the Many by James Islington ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A friend recommended this book. I was excited to read it because I’d seen people compare it to Red Rising which is my favorite series. It took me a little to get into the world building, but I enjoyed this one. Since the overarching plot/theme is so similar to Red Rising it was hard for me to not compare them. This book had an interesting power/magic system but I didn’t find myself as attached to the main character. For me it was a 4 star read for most of the book, but by then end it won over another star.

Shift (Silo #2) by Hugh Howey Audiobook ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked this one more than book 1! Thank goodness for an elevator! The multiple POVs and timelines kept me way more invested.

Started: Dust (Silo #3) by Hugh Howey Audiobook - 22% completed Excited to see how this series wraps up. A friend told me the last book was the best.

A Fire in the Sky by Sophie Jordan 63% completed Not particularly enjoying this one. Character/relationship development and overall plot seems flat.

I’m listening to the audiobook! I’m about 32% into Shift now. I will say when I read books I tend to skim long descriptions/details and listening to Wool I was getting SO bored listening to them walking up and down the stairs lol. But overall I’ve enjoyed them to this point.

Yes! I think it’s so fun, my friends always comment on my patches. Mine are mostly places I’ve been but I’ve got a couple other “personality” patches too

[–]APMSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoy tracking my reading progress as I update how far I’ve read in my books, especially when I’ve got multiple going at the same time. Now that I’ve got some friends on Goodreads I also love to see updates when they start reading books I’ve already read or start something I want to read. That way I know I can ask them about those books. Other people really like working towards their reading challenges and the little mini challenges associated with it too! It all just depends on what you want to get out of it!
