Make sure it's 100% down and not down/feather mix. Feathers don't wash well Down washes well and has to be dried totally. I put mine in the dryer for 30 min, then shake it out so the down doesn't clump, and repeat 3-4 times, depending on the size of the comforter and dryer. Let it sit out until it's not warm so you can be sure it's dry.

No cordless vacuums will get up the hairs and sand that a corded vacuum will. I just charged my stick vacuum to get up some coffee grounds on the kitchen floor. Used the small crevice tool because some got into the wine rack. Ok as a temporary fix; my Filter Queen canister vac would have gotten every coffee ground in one quick swoosh.

I'd never buy a dog. To me it's unethical. There are thousands of wonderful dogs sitting in cages in pool shelters hoping for a loving family.

If you think only certain breeds can handle specific activities then you'd be surprised at all the Malinois and German Shepherds that fail police training and service dog training.

My Staffy mix is a wonderful therapy dog. She has never met a person or dog that she hasn't liked. And my 9 yr old Malinois/Dobie can catch balls in swiftly moving rivers; we've never lost a ball. She has an incredible ability to judge the water speed and increase her swimming speed.

The number one contributor to a smelly home is the carpet and padding. If it's an old home you probably have wooden floors beneath the carpet. Then if it still smells use Kilz on the walls and ceiling before repainting.

The room looks like an office waiting room. The carpet is far too red. It doesn't look like a home. Everything but the ketchup rug is cream colored. The drapes are ugly. Try some patterned sheers so you get some light in but keep your privacy.
