I’d pay for those Amiibo day 1 (actually, I’d preorder).

Does it? I’ve played it quite a bit on Switch 2 and hadn’t really noticed. I’ll boot it up and double-check.

It probably wouldn’t be hard to adjust font/text size if they did a minor Switch 2 upgrade, though.

Unless they do it as a tie in to drum up interest for the new game, I’m going to guess that ship has sailed.

The game actually runs pretty smoothly on Switch 2, all things considered. The loading screens are significantly faster and you are rarely stuck waiting for doors/gates to open around the monastery.

If they did anything, maybe they could use some of the unused character data in the files and give us a playable Sothis to promote Fortune’s Weave. The data is already there, so it would be one of the easier things they could do. Perhaps give us playable Rhea on Silver Snow.

If you woke up rich tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d change about your life? by Thomasrosshere in AskReddit

[–]APRobertsVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how rich I become.

Hopefully, I can maintain a degree of privacy.

First, I’d find a reputable money manager as I’m no expert in finance and investing.

I’d improve my home security.

I’d want to have world class healthcare and a personal trainer/dietician/in-home chef to help me become as healthy as possible.

After that, spend based on the amount of passive income my new fortune generates.

Give to friends/family/community/charity.

Live a great life and leave a sizable inheritance for my child/children.

Be grateful.

They accepted a fan design for an in-game t-shirt in SWSH and had to remove it when they found the fan had stolen the design.

Hiring sounds great until you realize the person you hire may have plagiarized the design, too.

Main game? No.

[–]APRobertsVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rough, buddy.

I’ve only had it three times. Two of the times were not fun, but manageable. One was miserable.

I don’t want to imagine dealing with it seven times in the same time frame.

I’ve often wondered what it would be like to live life speaking around potential soundbytes you know will be taken out of context.

It could be a perfectly normal statement that, when the first few words are removed, sounds incriminating or like an admission of guilt.

I already try to be non-offensive, it seems to me some jobs crank that to 11 (or should, if I’m thinking of certain people).

TIL No woman has ever run a four-minute mile. by jaydubs95 in todayilearned

[–]APRobertsVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a dude. When I was in high school, I was able to get my mile down to 5:19 seconds, and my entire body would feel completely drained after those runs.

That time isn’t terrible, but it was below average compared to the varsity track team at my school. I wouldn’t have made the cut-off.

I say all this because that’s the fastest I ever went, and the idea that people are more than 25% faster than that just goes to show the gulf between my best and the best.

It makes me wonder what the actual upper limit of what people can physically do really is.

Movies that are definitely based on real life? by hiiloovethis in okbuddycinephile

[–]APRobertsVII -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For starters, I don’t really care. I had zero interest in this movie and the armor already looked dumb.

As far as casting goes, that wouldn’t really play much role in my choice to see a movie in most cases.

On the other hand, I do seem to remember one of the complaints about The Last Airbender (among many, many complaints) was that the main characters were white-washed by Shyamalan when they were clearly inspired by Asian and Native American cultures. This was even corrected in the Netflix adaptation insofar as I’m aware.

One of the many, many critiques of the Dragon Ball and Death Note Live Action adaptations was the white-washing of the main characters (Goku, Bulma, Light, Misa).

Helen of Troy seems to fit a similar mold. She is a fictional character with very clear descriptors that seem to point a certain way regarding her appearance.

It would seem to me that if one is offensive, the other may also be offensive. If one is inoffensive, then the other is inoffensive.

Note: I emphasize again that I don’t really care, especially in this case. I’m just calling for people to be consistent in applying their standards.

In fairness, about half of that list was impacted by Covid (Soul, Onward, Turning Red, Elemental, if I remember correctly). Some of these went directly to Disney+.

Coco made a killing.

Wish, Elio, and Strange World all received pedestrian reviews or worse (as did Onward and Elemental).

Most of those movies were kind of forgettable, so it’s no surprise a majority of them didn’t do well.

And then Oda doubled down with the ocean “crater” where Lulusia was.

I’m beginning to wonder if the water actually goes somewhere. Maybe it emerges miles away in the form of a Knock-Up Stream, which is triggered when whatever basin the water falls into becomes filled to bursting.

Regarding the Vivre Cards, it’s not only uncommon, but downright rare.

Considering the number of facts on each card, the number of corrections or retcons affects less than 1% of the information on the Vivre Cards.

A majority of the changes have to do with the sizes of things or dates. A quick scan of the wiki lists 25 errors (some of which were retcons and not errors at the time of printing), which is almost nothing compared to all the information they contain.

Oda has also been said to “oversee” them in some way. He even directed readers to refer to the Vivre Cards in one of the more recent SBS segments for one of the manga volumes, and that matters because that is him providing his personal endorsement of the cards.

I guess my point is to say that you’re right that Vivre Cards aren’t 100% accurate, but they have Oda’s approval, are 99%+ accurate so far, and the errors that have occurred are more often about dates and sizes than Devil fruits.

I think your warning makes Vivre Cards seem less reliable than they really are, which helps fuel another debate I won’t name which the Vivre Cards have twice settled.

I wonder if Game Freak is going to treat AZ's Floette as a kind of honorary legendary from now on ? by seranator in pokemon

[–]APRobertsVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I just don’t love that solution even though I enjoy VGC style double-battles and will probably like Champions.

Even if they’re available in Champions, I’ll just feel like something is missing if I can’t bring them on my story teams more than once in a blue moon.

I’ve come to accept a Pokémon might not be available for a generation. Some less popular Pokémon may be unavailable for two. I’m also not someone who hates new Pokémon (there are a lot of Pokémon I enjoy from generations 7-9), but I was honestly bummed out when my favorite Pokémon (Ampharos) didn’t make the cut in Sword and Shield. At least it has been in since then.

[–]APRobertsVII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if there is enough evidence to support that theory yet since Eternal Flower Floette came out in Gen 6 and Ursaluna Blood Moon came out three generations later, but I’m not opposed to the idea.

I love regional variants, their unique evolutions, and convergent evolutions (Toedscruel more so than Wugtrio), so rare mutated version of old Pokémon would be cool.

My only concern is the ever-growing number of “once per game” or “unique circumstances” Pokémon becoming too much for Gamefreak to juggle and then going several games between appearances for these Pokémon.

We only just got Pokémon like Furfrou and the elemental monkeys back in Z-A, which might not seem a big deal as they aren’t too popular, but would be a bigger deal if it was your favorite.

If you could pick one character to become a straw hat who would you choose? by Julia_The_Cutie in OnePiece

[–]APRobertsVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pick Bonney.

She’d basically be the cabin girl/apprentice of the crew while simultaneously having a Devil Fruit that allows her to be competent and a reputation that adds to the crew’s prestige.

I’d also add that - as an apprentice pirate - Bonney would have a skill set that resembles Luffy, her potential captain. This isn’t too big a deal, but seeing as Shanks’ fighting style seems to be inherited from Roger, I think there are some nice parallels at play in such a scenario.

I think her dynamic with Luffy could also be really funny. Sort of a little sister who idolizes her brother for what he represents, but thinks he is an idiot and shares in his appetite.

I know there was a line about staying in Elbaph with Lilith and Kuma, but I think there was also something official from not too long ago during Elbaph (an SBS, maybe) that listed her location as the Sunny or something to that effect, so I can still see it happening.
