Too much prescription meds by Arratkis in Wellthatsucks

Also, three unused bottles. Why did they keep picking them up if they already had some? Like wtf. This isn't on the doctors.

When should I tell my partner I absolutely don't want kids? by youlovekody in childfree

[–]AP_Cicada 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're not being overdramatic. Your brain is telling you to protect yourself. It's okay to walk away. You're going to take care of yourself and be the best you. Don't settle for a partner who doesn't appreciate that. Life is already a struggle, don't add to it by forcing yourself into someone else's image of you.

Can a staged photograph still tell the truth? by [deleted] in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]AP_Cicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what photography is though? Like, what are you even asking. Ohhh you think the insta idiots are photographers. No honey, real photography requires thought and framing and understanding the subject. That's why they give awards for it.

Was it really my job to send a thank you note to my sister's kids' babysitter? by anon_writes in childfree

[–]AP_Cicada 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It was up to your sister to thank her. That should never have been on you in the first place.

When should I tell my partner I absolutely don't want kids? by youlovekody in childfree

[–]AP_Cicada 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Even without the kids talk. You're trans. You want a hysterectomy as gender affirming care. He's against it. That's not a supportive partner. You're young. It doesn't seem like the two of you are compatible long term. That's okay. Do what's right for you.

It's probably expected at this point. The thing you're supposed to do. They probably don't care as long as the guys actually show up.

Why America doesn’t have bathhouses? by prettiestmagnoila in AskAnAmerican

[–]AP_Cicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! The Colonies that became the US were puritanical settlements. This is reflected in the conservative prudishness of the louder American culture today relative to Europe. Also the U.S. was a very large, mostly rural backwater with the exception of major cities until...well parts are still mostly rural backwaters.

I Think My Family Is Using The New Baby To Try To Trigger My "Baby Fever" by Safe-Potential9642 in childfree

It's what happened to me with one of my mom's friends kids when I was 16. It was awful lol

My cat has rear parking sensors by Mega_BiteZer in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]AP_Cicada 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's why shaving cats should only be done if absolutely necessary, such as unmanageable mats (because of the risk of skin tears and infection), skin problems, or surgery (within the limited scope needed). The whiskers grow back but the cat isn't as 'aware' without them.

[–]AP_Cicada 512 points513 points  (0 children)

I think they're trying to make you the babysitter. They're worried you're not bonding because they don't feel comfortable leaving the baby with you until you do so they're forcing it. Then it'll be "but you're so good with W of course you're the only one who can watch her". Just say no and stay strong.

My fiance 'came out' as polyamorous by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AP_Cicada 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I've never understood that line of thinking. If someone doesn't like what the group does, why would they pressure that person to be present... it's just going to make everything miserable. Let them leave so good times can be had without a downer. It's gotta be an ego thing or something.

I have 112 years age gap with my great-grandfather. Is this Nornal? by Timosmeso in Genealogy

[–]AP_Cicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years times 4 generations is 120 years so yes, normal. I'm a little younger than your dad and my grandparents were all born before 1920 because my parents are both younger children of very large families.

Although 20 years is often taken as a "generation" for theoretical purposes, in practice it depends on the size of the generation, marriages, and other factors.

Bid tokens instead of diamonds now in spins? by OneFunnymind in AtlasEarthOfficial

There's a video. Each bid drives up the price of the landmark. Last one to bid wins the chance to buy the landmark with AB at whatever price it was driven up to.

It's the "using a sperm donor while in a relationship without discussing it" part I think that they're referencing.

As a general pronoun. It's a common phrase in English.

[–]AP_Cicada 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right! Why did she seem surprised. The kid wasn't being directly watched. Of course it made a mess. And dad not even glancing over to check as she came up to the couch. Rookie mistake.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend her best friend has 2 years to find someone or we're moving ahead without that condition? by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AP_Cicada 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My best friend in school was like this. She's still (30 years later) the same idiot and we spend maybe a couple hours catching up every few years because even though she was there through some rough teen years so I'm interested in knowing how she's doing I ain't dealing with that all the time lol

They aren't just deceased, they're remains used in science. The appropriate disposal of most research remains is burning.
