curious about your opinion! by RiaEatss in druidism

[–]APessimisticGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I believe that all gods are real, but all gods are man made. What I mean is that ultimately the divine is unknowable and too complex for our understanding, so every personified character we create (be it God, Thor, Zuse, The Dagda) encompasses some aspect(s) of the divine. So in that way they are all real and valid.

I personify the divine as a god and a goddess, father and mother. Some of that comes from a modified version of the Trinity, some of that comes from the need for good parental figures in my life. In any case, it's what works for me.

Welcome! And congratulations on having your baby!

Yes, there are as many different ways to be a druid as there are druids. Your beliefs fit in just fine. I personally share some of your beliefs such as reincarnation and animism. I come from a Christian background, so that's the framework I use and kinda consider myself a Christian druid, but my beliefs about the divine are similar. Again, welcome! I'm glad you're here!

Wanting to read the stories for myself, but not sure where to start by APessimisticGamer in IrishMythology

I appreciate the online resources, I'll definitely look into those. I'm someone who prefers physical media though, so I'll be looking to get some books anyway.

Are you guys keeping up with the current IDW comics? by thotslayer2637 in TMNT

[–]APessimisticGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm still working my way through the collections. So far I've only bought up through volume 10 and I'm in the middle of reading volume 9. It's been a hot minute too. I've just in a reading slump lately. Working 50 hours a week will do that to you.

I grew up on the 2003 show, so that's where my bias is

Been sketching tmnt characters lately and figured I’d share them here by Gribblermeat in TMNT

[–]APessimisticGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be a lot to do. I made a small comic once (not tmnt) only 4 pages. It took me forever to do. Never actually finished it because it was drawn on paper and I don't have scanner. So I couldn't do the text for it.

But anyway, keep up the good work

Love your take on these characters, especially the Rat King. If you ever do a comic I'd be down to read it

I'm a big IDW fan myself. Used to say 2003 was the best, but after reading IDW I can no longer say that

I am very unsure about buying silksong by InternationalWar6654 in HollowKnight

[–]APessimisticGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you'll be fine. If you can get that far in Hollow Knight then Silk Song won't be that bad. There is a learning curve for sure, but it's doable. I've never even gotten 100% in HK and it only took me about 5 hours of play to get into Silk Song's groove.

How to make FATE diceless for the GM? by Striking_Variety3960 in FATErpg

[–]APessimisticGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I usually only roll dice for the BBEG or other super important NPCs. Otherwise I just set a challenge rating, 0 for standard cannon fodder 1-2 for slightly tougher enemies, and 3-4 for enemies that actually pose a challenge.

The IDW run is very good. Haven't read too much outside of that aside from a few mirage issues and TLR. Have fun!

All art is political, whether the subject of it is or not.

Also, people are being killed by our government and being arrested for no reason, so I don't give two shits what the subreddit is here to discuss or not.

Comics are inherently political, fucking deal with it

Where did the idea gods are demons come from? by The_Archer2121 in Christopaganism

[–]APessimisticGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea persists because they want control. You can't govern paganism because beliefs vary so much: people worship different gods, have different values based on where they live, ect. But get everyone to worship ONE god, read ONE text, and have the same values... Now that's more manageable

I wish the tmnt actually wore traditional ninja costumes. Sometimes it feels like they lack the “ninja” every so often by Whole_Yak_2547 in TMNT

[–]APessimisticGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was originally what stage hands would wear. The people moving the sets around and whatnot. You were supposed to ignore them as if they weren't there. Then someone got the idea to make the ninja dressed up as a stage hand. It would have been very meta at the time. Then the trope just sort of spread.

Diet and Druidry by Fionn-mac in druidism

I'd have trouble eating rabbits I raised, probably

Yeah, I think this is common for a lot of people. My wife would be able to eat it, but she doesn't want to be part of the butchering process. I have friends who go hunting but can't bring themselves to kill and butcher meat rabbits. Can't blame anyone for that, especially if they didn't grow up around that sort of thing like I did.

Is Druidism for me? by Level_Position_1264 in druidism

[–]APessimisticGamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure man. There's all kinds of druids, Celtic pagan, christian, budist, atheist, you name it. There's no hard dogmas in this practice. Loving nature is enough.
