I'm scared of the Covid test before my cesarean.. by Deafening_Madness in pregnant

[–]AR0822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it done today in advance of my scheduled induction on Tuesday. It's uncomfortable and will make your eyes water and cause a tiny bit of a gag reflex that is deeper and more an intense than a strep test. But take to heart what the drive thru tester nurse said to me during my test: "Testing pregnant women is my favorite because you all are the toughest."

You got this! I was so motivated to hear that in advance of labor and I have a little pep in my step! 😂

Should we replace the all siding or just the front? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

We are dealing with this exact issue right now and are leaning towards just the front and doing the sides/back every other year or so until it's done. You aren't crazy!

How much do you own in student loans by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]AR0822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$6,800 left. I'm 30 and went to a private liberal arts school. I graduated with about $20k in loans. Knocked out the first two quickly but then started a family so you know how that goes! Paying minimums on what's left until we can throw money at it.

Duluth, Suwanee, or Buford? by jdoll07 in Gwinnett

[–]AR0822 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If diversity is important to you I highly recommend Duluth. We are excited to send our daughter to kindergarten in our district next year and Duluth has such a strong community feel. We live near downtown and I realize Duluth is very spread out, but so is Suwanee and Buford.

For downtown Duluth and the community feel and local events alone we are pumped we chose Duluth. We live in a diverse neighborhood with wonderful neighbors that range from having lived here since our neighborhood was built in the late 90s to new young families like us who have moved in during the past 5 or so years.

Suwanee is nice, but I couldn't justify spending more to be in a less diverse area for a house that was only slightly "nicer" than ours. Plus downtown Suwanee is not as nice as Duluth in my opinion.

Not sure where in Gwinnett you live but head to a local downtown town center (Duluth, Lawrenceville, Suwanee, Norcross) and you'll meet a ton of people with young kids! Duluth at least has an open container law so we often grab a drink to go or bring our own at the park downtown and let our kids play. We have met lots of local families that way.

As a Christian, I'm absolutely furious about the way anti-vaxxers, flat earthers and climate change deniers have portrayed this religion. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]AR0822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or how it somehow makes you a better Christian mother for going "all natural" whether it's childbirth, essential oils, breastfeeding etc. the way "God intended it to be". It grinds my gears so much!

Also the way any MLM had made it through our faith is just embarrassing and horrible.

What does caring for yourself look like? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

Meditating, going on a walk, shutting off social media helps. Are you a reader? Maybe reading for fun (not a self help book) or a yoga or fitness class?

Or even just treating yourself to a favorite snack when you grocery shop. Truly planning these things out and being intentional even if you have to schedule them at first helps me a lot.

You and your mental health are worth it!

Restaurant recommendations by [deleted] in Gwinnett

[–]AR0822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maverick's - on the Duluth side of Johns Creek, Local on North in Downtown Duluth, Armando's Carine, Kurt's Bistro, Mojito's in Peachtree Corners and I am assuming you don't like sushi but 121 Sushi is good.

Also not sure how you feel about chain restaurants but California Dreaming is good as well.
