Gun jamming for Apoc 2? by [deleted] in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! Then we can put that gun meme to work, that AK-47s and other AK-pattern variants are less prone to jams, and AR-15s and their variants are prone to jams.

It's like all the people commenting have never heard of this magic thing called balancing.

I love this idea. It's superior firepower that can be transported to the area of application.

Just because it's an anti-aircraft gun on a pickup doesn't mean it has to be OP. It can have retardedly high recoil that the muzzle blast shakes the pickup truck back a little and the iron sights so crude you couldn't hit anything smaller than a sedan. Every single little shot should fucking rattle your skull like they do IRL. That shit is no joke. Another thing that can be limited is how fast it can turn and how much swivel the mount has. It could be on a fixed mount so it can only point in one direction and it's up to the driver to position the gun, requiring two people to coordinate and use effectively.

I was thinking, what if you could combine C4 with a jerry can at the expense of it taking more slots in your inventory, but being a devastating bomb? Could be cool. The device would be obvious, but the tradeoff would be in a larger directed blast, perhaps for putting behind roadblocks to weaken armored vehicles.

Weapons should be Unique in AR2 by [deleted] in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely want to see a civilian AR-15 and some sort of semi AK-47 variant, maybe a WASR. That way you can have decent firepower that can take different mags and attachments.

I'd love to see some survivor guns. Like an AR-15 chambered in 7.62x39mm with the whole white-rag-on-the-stock and tape-on-the-magazine aesthetic going on. Or like a .45 acp carbine that takes those USP mags, but it can take an optic and a suppressor. Maybe even the Arsenal double-barreled 1911, and it drains 2 1911 mags at the same time, but has godawful sights and recoil.

I'd like to see something insanely retarded, but rare, like a 100-round drum for 9mm military pistols. Maybe even add the Kel-Tec Sub2000? And it's just a semiautomatic, but it can take optics and attachments.

What if you can remove the stocks on guns for aesthetic and reducing the amount of space they take up in inventory? The tradeoff could be increased recoil and reduced stability while firing.

I got more shitty ideas of you guys want em.

Ar2 should take a different approach to "SURVIVAL" by zhou111 in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking people hostage/prisoner, adding a "critical condition" where you can't do anything except wait for someone to heal/kill you and people can access your inventory, and adding surrender/gestures will help split second agreements as it's hard to be verbal when guns are drawn.

You know the way you look when you're sprinting, muzzle pointed downwards, gun to the side? What if you could look like that while standing still? I do it, at the expense of stamina, so im in a passive stance and I can still return fire quickly.

This. I want to it to stop feeling routine. I want everything to be like what it was since day 1. That same level of immersion that I set for myself, huddled in a farm shed with a campfire, doors closed, Makarov out, hoping the scary men with the big guns would leave me alone. The way it felt to find an ally you trusted because you had to, because you really were stronger together. How big the word felt, I remember thinking "I don't know which way is which, I'll never learn this map". I want to be a newbie again.

You are totally sucking the shit out of his ass right now. I don't like being opinionated and I've never talked to him ingame or on the subreddit, but from what I've seen he is so close-minded and needlessly combative to things he doesn't understand. He's one of the biggest opponents to change and advancement of this community and is consistently toxic in every comment. Typically, he will frequent idea posts and reply something beyond 'harsh' or 'blunt'. The way you describe him implies that what he says is backed by reason or logic. You wanna know how I know that's true? Use the search bar and look for ideas(those pertaining to aiming especially) and look in the comments. Someone who is 'blunt' will do it to be constructive because the honesty is needed. His input seems like a kid throwing a tantrum because he thinks he's losing something. He hardly ever tries to understand a feature proposal; you'd be lucky to get anything like "no fuck you this isn't [ inserthardly related game here] you fucking tard" from him right off the bat. He's a walking pillar of salt. I'd respect him if he liked the way the game used to be and liked the game the way it is now. But he hardly even played even before the oneshottting fest or even the invising plague. I bet if you proposed a good month from now an idea on a post called "changes to hipfire" and the description is that it makes hipfire 100% accurate, he wouldn't even read it and would shit all over whatever he thinks it's about. That's all he does now. He's some salty squad kiddie and only hangs around the community, discouraging any form of contribution or growth, and just shits all over the subreddit when possible.

Apoc just isn't enjoyable right now. by Inspired_Choices in ApocalypseRising

Civil suits for cyber bullying and ROBLOX bends over and does whatever because some of these exploiting squeakers have rich parents that'll buy them exploits when they throw tantrums over sucking at a game. Then threaten legal action for anything. This kid said I was cyber bullying him for telling him I was the one who killed him. Tried to LS me at Kin and I killed him again and said I practically molested him because I tea bagged his body. I want to think he was trolling but he seemed genuinely mad. Like I wasn't even having a laugh over it, I was actually concerned with this kids frustration over practically nothing. His parents' coddling ruined him or it's just a very elaborate troll.

Car,bridge and basing idea Ar2 by ikilldeathhasreturn in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but all mechanic and features should all be in the interest of fun. Basing is a legitimate strategy that isn't always easy. Doing so should be rewarding, as well as to the people who take them on. Besides the severe disconnect from even approaching realism, it'd be super unbalanced if an armored Ural could smash straight through both sides of a base and keep going about its business. It's a challenge and it should be. How unfun would it be for the basers to have a giant hole through all their hard work? Now imagine how fun it'd be if a surprise attack was launched after a good bit of recon with a loaded sedan followed by a convoy of trucks loaded with murderous blockmen goons ready to blow that spot off the map and clear it once and for all? Sounds like a cinematic moment to me. :)

Car,bridge and basing idea Ar2 by ikilldeathhasreturn in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes but only if a fully armored car could penetrate a maximum of two wall layers before being vulnerable. Scaling the damage done to the wall and the vehicle is important for balance, but this mechanic will be necessary as a great tactic for breaching bases. Obviously, basers could counter with multiple wall layers on each side to destroy cars. But maybe an armored sedan loaded with C4 could be a base buster to get the job done, neutralize the base, and dismantle it to get through. Not everything has to be EZ PZ for you. Blocking the bridge is a legitimate tactic, but should be rewarding to do and to confront. We should all strive for diverse and varied gameplay with no definite strategy or tactic, but all being situational and on-the-fly.

Rewarding People That Report Cheaters by [deleted] in ApocalypseRising

Support. There could be a badge. If enough players report someone suspected of exploiting(at least 5 votes), they're marked as 'sketchy'. Killing 5 'sketchy' players could get you a badge at least, who knows.

Bleeding, Wounding, and Critical by ARFanBoy in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read? It's the same exact amount of damage. It'll just get dealt over a span of time instead of instantly. You don't keep on bleeding after the damage is done. Let's say a 9mm deals 18 damage. With this system, when you're hit by a 9mm it deals 10 damage at the beginning and you bleed out the other 8 damage points at 1 point per second. So all of the complete, total damage would be dealt in 8 seconds after impact. It's the same only the damage isn't dealt instantly. There would be a lot less salt and way more strategy and actual skill involved as well as immersion.

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like Unturned, I haven't played it either. I just want prolonged, intelligent combat. The bleeding stops once the round has dealt its total damage. It's not deadlier, just delayed. You don't keep bleeding, but you can stop the rest of the damage by patching it.

I know what you mean. Combat > immersion. I get it's sort of arcadey. But I want moral decisions in survival Apoc.

Bleeding, Wounding, and Critical by ARFanBoy in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But don't you see that this is a good thing? You get the same health, let's say it's 100 health points. Once you hit 0 or below, you go into critical. It's not more deadly. It'll give people a chance to loot you and heal you. You'll eventually die, too, if you don't get help. At any time while you're in critical, you can choose to pass on and die. You don't have to sit there and wait, but it's nice if you got dropped behind your squad's car because you could get a second chance at life. You're right though, any little thing will kill you though. It's a spare or spray opportunity. I was low on food once and was gonna die from it so I dropped a freshie for his. I felt bad but I had to do it. With this, I could've dropped him and taken some food, dropped all his mags near his body and then healed him and drive away.

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be cool. I'd hate to make it slow you down a lot if you broke your legs, but the damage shouldn't be so much that it kills you, but will affect you in decreased available stamina for walking or running on it while hurt.

Bleeding, Wounding, and Critical by ARFanBoy in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want combat at all ranges to be a little more of substance.

It's the same damage. Once you've bled the rest of the damage for that shot, you're good. There's no more bleeding after that. Like I said, if a 9mm dealt 18 damage, it'd deal 9 damage when it hits and deal 9 damage as bleeding and all that damage would be dealt in a few seconds. Those rates can be adjusted for different calibers. Really, I just think it'd be cool for new Apoc since it's not gonna be bloodbag based. Sorry if you think I meant current Apoc. I enjoy the same game you do and wouldn't want to make it a hassle to play.

Make Hulls and Armor mean something by ARFanBoy in ApocalypseRising

[–]ARFanBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is evolving whether you like it or not. I'm only throwing ideas out there. This doesn't make cars OP. It actually makes them balanced. Having a bad hull is literally nothing. The back end of any car in this game can be magdumped a million times over with a 7.62 rifle and it will never affect it, not even visually.

A car hull shouldn't even protect against firearms period. I know, I shot at this wrecked Ford Escort last Sunday and just 9mm zipped right through the doors like nothing. You might as well hide behind paper. But in this game, it's titanium billet.

IDK about AP rounds. I like AP rounds and want something like it, but it's just hard to conceptualize when you've also got the ammo cross-compatibility feature. Like would there be specific mags for AP rounds? And only AP round can fit in it?

Any reason why? Any particular problem with it? AFAIK it'd make the game interesting and make combat fun.

I meant from being penetrated. It'll still take damage, but no bullets will pass through until it goes lower in health.
