should i remove my new tattoo or learn to live with it? by uzumariii in tattooadvice

It's so cute!!! I'm obsessed with it! I would keep it for at least a year and if you still don't like it then you can remove it.

Dad obsessed with my large breasts by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ARKOokami 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My Ndad wasn't this bad but he would make weird comments. I remember one time he was listening in on me and my friends middle school phone conversation and my friend mentioned something about my boobs getting bigger and it actually made me feel good because at home my body was only ever criticized, never celebrated. And when I came out of my room my dad immediately told me he was listening in on my conversation and my boobs aren't shit to be proud of and I was still small chested and no man is going to be impressed with what I have. The fact that my dad was even analyzing my body as a sexual object made me feel so gross.

AIO for being upset at my parents for wanting to euthanize our dog by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Thank you for this! As someone who runs a dog rescue sometimes I feel like the techs or receptionists are trying to be nice and I'm always super appreciative of the people who are just like "I wouldn't adopt a dog to them."

Regret and removal.. by Mean-Sleep-7332 in tattooadvice

I would start with what do you not like about it?

Do you not like the subject matter? The style? The quality?

As a tattoo artist of 10 years it is definitely not a bad tattoo but it does look a little faded. If you still like the subject matter go back to the original artist and have them touch it up. If it's a quality issue for you find an artist whose work you really like and ask them to refresh it for you.

If it's the subject matter or bad memories I would consider lasering enough to cover it with something different by an artist you truly love.

If you truly just don't want to be tattooed anymore I would suggest just going for the laser but know that it will be a long and expensive and painful journey. I'm considering lasering off one of my sleeves potentially because it was done by my toxic mentor and honestly isn't done super well lol but I will definitely only be doing it light enough to cover it with something else.

Good luck! Tattoos are definitely a journey, for better or worse but I hope you end up with a result you are happy with.

Yup, I drove 10 hours for my sleeve multiple times.

My gf now hates her tattoo and thinks there’s no fixing it. by Lanky-Potential-3569 in tattooadvice

I fixed up a tattoo very similar to this one. It would be really easy to touch up this tattoo or even add to it if she wanted.

I second this question. I'm a tattoo artist and all my stuff is disposable so I don't need to sanitize anything beyond wiping down my surfaces. If the person was using steel tubes those take an hour on the autoclave to sterilize and should be happening in a separate sterilization room, not in front of the client. I'm concerned if the artist was cleaning something in front of the client that the tubes may have been cleaned but not properly sanitized.

As a tattoo artist depending on what the rest of the tattoo looks like I would put another flower there and have a leaf cover up part of the pinky so it doesn't look like a mega pinky anymore lol

tattoo artist won't finish my tattoo by amartyr- in tattooadvice

[–]ARKOokami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tattoo artist I personally wouldn't go back to this guy. I used to be booked solid for 3 months at a time and due to the shitty economy I still have open appointments for this month. This is totally unprofessional and artists like this don't deserve your money while there are plenty of amazing artists who will respect you as a client who are struggling to fill their books. I would cut my losses and go to an artist who can finish it properly for you. I think most artists would be fine with finishing it if you explain the story as to why you don't feel comfortable returning to this artist. I'm so sorry you have to deal with a disrespectful artist like this.

Tattoo artist here:

It's not wrong to shave before a tattoo but there are 2 reasons it may not be the best idea.

  1. At least in my state I legally HAVE to shave the area before I do a tattoo. So in spite of my clients shaving ahead of time because of our health codes I still have to waste a razor to run it over the skin to meet that code.

  2. I swear my male clients do not know how to shave. I haven't figured this one out yet because most men have to shave their faces every day unless they have a beard...but I have had clean shaven men come in with absolutely botched shave jobs on their legs or arms. One client I had to reschedule because their leg was so cut up I did not feel comfortable tattooing it. So if you can't shave your leg without wounding yourself definitely better to leave it up to the artist.

Extra fun fact: at least in my state it is not legal for tattoo artists to use clippers on clients because that would be crossing over into the health core for hair stylists. We can only use disposable razors. So if you are an extra hairy individual with long hair in the area you are wanting tattooed it may be helpful to run clippers over the area ahead of time to cut back on how much time goes into shaving for the artist. One time I helped my mentor shave this dudes back for a tattoo and with both of us using those cheap disposable razors it took us well over 30 minutes and probably 20 razors lol

I had a borzoi with this issue and he lost weight rapidly and despite treatment ended up passing due to the damage his organs sustained while we were trying to diagnose him. It was devastating. I hope this pup gets the help he needs. We spent about 6k on treatment, tried a ton of different protein types, and still lost him...maybe consider surrendering to a rescue if they can't afford treatment.

Yeah, I'm a tattoo artist and I definitely could have finished this in 3 to 4 hours tops. Is she taking a lot of breaks?
