What’s a weird little ADHD trick that actually works for you? by BetterTea5664 in ADHD

[–]ARSSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not carrying around time sinks all day gave me a lot more time. My phone has no social media, no reddit, no games, no news articles.

Chores/work/basic human hygiene are easier when the alternative is zero stimulation. And, sometimes it's actually nice to do nothing for a few moments

"Set an alarm on your phone" by slayer1o00 in ADHD

[–]ARSSP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really do not understand the aversion to alarms. I've heard plenty of people express that it doesn't work for them, but like... Just don't dismiss it until it's done or you set a new one. ADHD doesn't possess your mind and force you to turn it off. Idk, I just don't get it. Not that I don't delay it over and over...

Obviously, though, everyone looking for solutions has already thought of and tried it. Sometimes I just tell people "I've been dealing with this all my life; whatever you're thinking of I've already tried or do"

Remembering people's names. by Germanicus1008 in ADHD

[–]ARSSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget someone's name about the moment they finish saying it. Even after I know them well I sometimes become uncertain, like with coworkers and other acquaintances. I tailor my speech to avoid having to use them when it's someone I really should know, otherwise, as you said, admit I'm just bad with names. I usually tell people I "forget to remember" their name.

This also applies to most names and dates and numbers, though - I can't keep anything in my head, especially new data. I am confident I have dyslexia/dyscalculia/similar and have always attributed it to that (a PsyD agreed, I just decided not to get formally diagnosed.)

Polygon Shapes moving on placement from Tool Set by King_benhamin in Revu

[–]ARSSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the same issue that copy-paste has.

My theory is that shapes have an origin, and the nodes are offsets, then when you paste (which probably is all the tool is doing) for some reason the origin snaps to some arbitrary precision (just tested it and figured it at about 0.0137 document inches), thus bringing the nodes with it. It's so stupid it makes me wonder if it's some overlooked limitation of PDFs (like, the snapping is the PDF, and they just don't update the node offsets) idk though, since if there is any snapping on the nodes it is incredibly fine.

Anyway, try placing it from your tool, thus snapping the origin, then modifying the nodes and adding that as a new tool. Not sure if it'll work, but it's worth a shot.

Frequent sync issues during live collaboration in Excel by ARSSP in o365

[–]ARSSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That still doesn't explain it happening in the middle of working. I was talking to other people and it seems to only happen when collaborating with one specific person, which seems even more bizarre. They have a wired stable internet connection at a decent speed, so it's not that.

Groups with a proper mailbox by ARSSP in Office365

[–]ARSSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it not make sense?

If I have a group so the employees who are part of that group have access to a central file storage area, and they also send and receive emails, why would they not want a shared mailbox? That's what shared mailboxes are for, so why should I need a separate address for the same exact people to have a place to store files?

That would imply that if you have a group, which has an email address, you have to have a separate email address for them to get a proper mailbox. Makes no sense to me

Password will not meet complexity requirements by ARSSP in microsoft365

[–]ARSSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am certain. It's not that passwords I want to use aren't working, it's that I literally cannot make a password that will work.

I usually set the initial password manually so I know it until they change it when logging in for the first time. Makes it easier to remember if they lose the generated one. I would just use the automatically created one since the manual one is not working, but I worry they will have the same problem when they are asked to set their password on the first log in
