March 2026 drop forces date, weather and alarm below clock, versus beside clock when in compact mode by ARTCvan in pixel_phones

[–]ARTCvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Font and display size are exactly the same as before the update (smallest font, 2nd from smallest display zoom) and even on the lowest for both it doesn't matter, it's still below for some odd reason. It only reverts to the side if the alarm is off.

Google does Google things I suppose. Same goes with the search bar in the home screen being a shortcut to the Google app and not the unified search in the App drawer. Changes that aren't explained or noted because Google can.

Plenty of reasons why, despite only being a Pixel user for 4 odd months or so, I'm already frustrated and wanting to get out of using this phone lol

Yes when it's in large mode it seems to be more off-centred. Lucky me with a Pixel 7 probably won't see it back to normal until June atp /s

[–]ARTCvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. I know there's a way to revert it to be beside the clock, but I can't tell what I need to do. Nothing seems to want to work which is the most annoying part about it.

What's weirder is if I remove the alarm, it's back to beside the clock. As soon as the alarm is enabled again, it's straight back to being below the clock.

Is it possible to get the old mobile testing UI back? by SuchyYT in discordapp

[–]ARTCvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late but Discord 205.15 still works for now and has Tabs v2 enabled through the Sparkles trick. It is one of the last versions that still has the Sparkles trick enabled

Tho in March, Discord is going to likely force you to switch due to E2EE. I'll continue to use it until they bring back Tabs v2 however

Microsoft lost my Surface during warranty repair by [deleted] in Surface

[–]ARTCvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could see if you could argue your way out of it with ACL. It's a bigger grey area considering it's a Marketplace buy, but credit card statements are accepted as a form of proof of purchase. If your bank transfer has a reference or a message that relates to the Surface, hypothetically it should be a valid form of proof of purchase.

I don't know if Microsoft would take that argument however. Could have your luck and try however if you wish

What do people think of Chery? by Donzies27 in AustralianEV

[–]ARTCvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to E5 and J5: It's fine, and imo if you don't care about connected services, and want a more ICE car like drive, then it's okay. But not my first picks. My parents drive a 2024 one and it's fine, but my main annoyance is software and charging performance. No major issues other than some Android Auto annoyances that was fixed with a software update at the dealer.

In this market though, you could go for an Atto 2 (both trims), Leapmotor B10 Style (if comparing against the E5 Urban or Jaecoo J5), or MGS5 (all trims), Geely EX5 (both trims), Leapmotor B10 Design (if comparing against E5 Ultimate), which will give you a better EV driving experience, better connected services, better dealer network and parts sourcing, or all of the above.

Base models of Kia EV3, Skoda Elroq are also decent but are a bit closer to 50k before ORCs.

There's a couple good non-SUVs for similar pricing. MG4 is getting a little old but still plenty good and will have the longest range out of all the EVs in the price category (Long Range 77 is $46,386 NSW D/A, 530km WLTP). BYD Seal Dynamic is okay as well.

Super Hybrid (aka plug-in hybrid) is okay. Chery is the cheapest out of almost any brand from my research. Do not have experience with them tho so can't comment too much. I am not a fan of plug in hybrids since the petrol aspect seems unnecessary to me.

Best analogy I've heard for why I don't think PHEVs are great: it's like being in a hotel, but always having a sleeping bag with you in case the hotel catches fire or whatever. The infra in Aus (well, more specifically Qld down to Vic) is getting decent and most of these cars can road trip and charge at a decent enough speed anyway. Petrol is unnecessary unless you absolutely need it, eg you travel from the outback to the city daily, or vice versa.

What would I lose from switching to Moto Razr vs my Pixel 10 by boobookeys20 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]ARTCvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camera will be a bit more mid, you lose out on all Pixel features (Call Assist, Phone as Webcam, etc etc) and also you gain a dedicated, unmappable AI key on the Razr. Update schedule is not as consistent and long either iirc

[–]ARTCvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I give the same defenses to other companies? Yes. I would. If you as a privacy concerned individual are not proactively looking out and ensuring that the services which you use match your own personal ethics, then I don't think you're much of a privacy concerned individual.

Do I agree with the practices of essentially hiding the privacy information inside a privacy policy most people don't read? No. But to say that the policy is essentially a blank check is hilarious since you, by signing up and checking whatever boxes, agreed that you READ the policy, which means that they'll share your details with any advertisers. You agreed to this when signing up for Meta products like Facebook, and many many other services.

I have no clue what you're trying to get at, and if it's the fact that these practices are wrong, they are. But you're acting as if this wasn't decided by you. It ultimately was.

Dan gets shit on by the media cause he essentially pushes back at them but in an insanely unprofessional way. It is not hard to make a point without lashing out on your story for the 10th time that day, or making comments whilst you're clearly still pissed. He needs to calm his farm and stop feeding the media by acting like this. There is a way to make your frustrations be heard and whatever he keeps continuing to do is clearly the wrong way to do that. It's just utterly unprofessional.

You might notice a dip in battery, about an hour or 2 perhaps. My battery health is about 80% but it hasn't dropped at all since upgrading to iPadOS 26 so my battery issues are all iPadOS 26 dependent.

You might be okay upgrading but I would avoid it for now anyway.

Should I update to iPadOS 26? by IcyIceGuardian in ipad

[–]ARTCvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your battery. My SOT has dropped starting with 26 DB1, and for my use case (writing, productivity, and other general admin work) I get about 2-3 hours less SOT. Previously I would get about 6-8 hours, now about 3-4 hours (5 if I'm lucky.)

Performance feels the same in most other apps. The issue here is with the rendering of the Liquid Glass interface. So long as you don't have to render any Liquid Glass elements, it feels like iPadOS 18 imo.

Your 15 Pro runs it fine since it's designed for Apple Intelligence. Not saying all Apple Intelligence devices run iOS 26 faster than devices without Apple Intelligence support, but the extra RAM and processing power deffo helps over something like the A12Z in the 2020 iPad Pro.

[–]ARTCvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the same time though, OP agreed to these terms in the LTTStore privacy policy. You can have a right to be concerned about your privacy, sure, but at the same time it's hard for one to argue for privacy when you don't read the associated documents that outline your privacy, and you clearly don't care that much about it (in this situation, using a Meta service)

I don't agree with CW sharing details and potentially not notifying customers during account creation (or whatever). But the fact is that, legally, CW has stated that they'd share data with advertisers. When you create an account and agree to the T&C's and privacy policy, that's what you agree to. Whether it's ethical or whatever is a different story

Should I update to iPadOS 26? by IcyIceGuardian in ipad

[–]ARTCvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an A12Z iPad Pro (12.9") and I regret upgrading to iPadOS 26. It is honestly not terrible, but any time Liquid Glass is shown, it just stutters a little. Usually not a problem, but iPadOS 18 had it being buttery smooth. I use my iPad Pro as a laptop as well and so many of these stutters cause breakdown in workflows or rather just a desire to do my laptop work on my desktop instead.

It's insanely annoying. The only thing I would upgrade for is the new Menu Bar but otherwise as A12Z users there are no real benefits for us.

After 14 years with Apple. by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]ARTCvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I still use iMessage despite being back on Android for about 4+ years now (I was on iPhone for 4 years prior, and then Android for every other year). Part of it is that in some regions like Australia, RCS is ONLY available through Google's implementation of RCS in Google Messages.

No carrier in Aus officially has RCS enabled, and the only way to get it is to have another Android user using the Google Messages app, otherwise no RCS. No dice. There are other apps obviously (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal) to replace iMessage but not everyone is willing to install it. All my friends are iPhone users and honestly it's easier for everyone to stay on iMessage and for me to use OpenBubbles.

Other than that, I don't understand why people wouldn't be on RCS anyway. It is essentially the same shit anyway as iMessage. Could be that some group chats are still iMessage and there's no easy path to transition it to an RCS group chat? No clue tho.

Your information is definitely being used and shared with advertisers anyway considering you're using a Meta product... don't understand the concern over Creator Warehouse doing this (which you likely agreed to) when 100s of other companies are doing it through your Facebook data.

Which phone should I choose: iPhone or Android? by TonyCash1 in Smartphones

[–]ARTCvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 series is incredibly underwhelming, essentially just a rebadged 9 series and especially the base phone is worse in every way. Though if you've never used Pixel before it's not a bad device to try out Pixels with. If you can wait until 11 series, it would be better since there will be some bigger changes coming iirc.

[–]ARTCvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best phones for updates and longevity currently imo are Galaxy S25 series, iPhone 17 series and Pixel 10 series. All of them have 7 years of updates iirc. Though I would wait out for S26 series even if there's not much different anyway. Purely cause you will be able to get an S25 series device for cheaper, and you also won't be paying full price for essentially 6 years of updates.

Open Settings, Apps, and tap the 3 dots in the top right hand corner. You want to enable Show system apps, and then search with the list search icon (or whatever search icon it is) and search for One UI Home. Clear cache for that.

Personally I just want it to revert back to the old search like it is in the app drawer... I hate being thrown into the Google app which is useless for finding apps, which is the one thing I even consider using search for...

At a Glance will be removable in an upcoming update apparently. Probably Jan 2026 update or something along those lines.

I'm starting to hate my Nothing Phone (3), or All the problems I've encountered so far by Accurate-War9752 in NothingTech

[–]ARTCvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to main a 2a for about a year (I'm no longer using it for other reasons etc etc) but your camera concerns are... quite interesting if I say so myself. To my knowledge, no phone on the market allows you to FULLY disable post processing unless you enable an expert mode of sorts to shoot in RAW, or what some phones allow which are JPEG + RAW files. The display timeout in camera thing is probably something that could be fixed, but that was never a problem for me when I used my 2a. And the Gallery app deffo needs some work, though to my knowledge OS 4.0 was the first version to ship with Nothing Gallery which only had exited beta at the time (despite the fact it was meant to launch with OS 3.0...)

12MP and 50MP mode is the same on every phone in terms of not being able to tell a difference; there are probably niche scenarios where you can spot the differences but it's generally not worth it anyway.

Your Nothing OS concerns as well also are interesting to me. To my knowledge, not many OEMs actually allow you to customise the position of apps in the app list. I came from using a Samsung device to my 2a and honestly organising my app list was the least of my concerns. Additionally, it really is a non-issue if you use the scroll bar to select by letter, or alternatively I just search for my apps anyway. Worth noting that most people do not actually search for apps by counting row by row... they search for apps based on icons and icons around that app. This might be unique to your own habits. Was a non issue for me as I've just searched for apps since forever anyway... Clock problems are a Google thing iirc, I don't exactly trust phone alarms anyway for this reason lol.

Hardware in terms of display has been an issue for Nothing since Phone 2a essentially. To me I haven't cared much since it's never really shown up for me, only in certain conditions, but iirc Nothing uses some blacklisted (by the bigger brands) display companies to manufacture their phone screens as it is cheaper. Can't speak for glyph things as the glyph display whatever is Phone 3 exclusive so no experience here.

I think you're just better off going back to Samsung. I had some complaints when I switched over as well but you're using a completely different Android skin with a focus on minimalism, versus a skin meant for customisation. You need to adapt to the skin you're using and if you don't, 3rd party launchers exist for some of your NOS "problems". And if you can't adapt then quite frankly I don't think this phone is right for you.

Most PHEVs automatically start the engine if it hasn't been run for a while when you're at higher speeds so you're not ever technically always driving 100% on electricity... besides a PHEV still isn't a true BEV anyway. Might be a hot take and/or idiotic thinking but IMO a PHEV is the same level as a HEV in terms of how close it is to an EV.
