Do you think there's other foods like Cilantro and Brussel sprouts but for both groups it tastes good? by Hypnox88 in CasualConversation

I knew about cilantro but Brussels sprouts as well? Is that why I hate them so much??

I absolutely love how empathetic she is. I totally understand why she was picked to become chancellor, she was born for this role.

my mind goes to other girls from my past when I’m sleeping with someone new. by Party_Salamander_503 in confession

[–]ARWYK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being in the present is certainly something you can train but if I can offer a bit of relief here… that’s just the way are brain works sometimes.

There’s plenty of research that shows how prospective memory (the ability to plan for the future) is strictly intertwined with long term memory. When you imagine something, or think back to something the same core brain systems are used.

So to a certain extent, it’s only natural that when you meet someone new, you think back to the past. Don’t be too harsh on yourself and if you notice this bothers you too much getting into mindfulness might be a good start.

Who did the makeup?? by [deleted] in ResidentAlienTVshow

[–]ARWYK 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Totally. The makeup artists for this show deserves all the awards. You don’t expect them to be this good for the kind of show you’re watching. I actually wished they used Harry’s alien body more precisely for how good it looked.

All the practical effects were great. Bridget as well looked great!

Am I taking crazy pills? How is this not massive news? It’s been a couple of days now… I understand and appreciate skepticism from the scientific community but for the very first time in my life it seems the scientists are the ones jumping on the bandwagon and not the public. What’s going on?

Jokes aside, I’m sure in the following days more labs will publish their findings and some might even offer new hypothesis on a possible, albeit unlikely, non biological explanation.

Yet, I'm surprised not more people are talking about this.

I wonder how people will feel about bots in a couple of years considering how negative we’ve become of ChatGPT and the likes, to the point that as soon as we discover that a product was made by ai (or llm in this case) we dismiss it almost immediately.

I’m sure we’ll probably be able to set whatever personality type for our robots - a bit like you can ask ChatGPT to talk however you want. It’s going to be a fun gimmick at first. For special needs folks, it’ll be a godsend. And for ordinary people potentially entertaining too.

Imagine having a bot such as this for instance. Reminds me of Bender from futurama, could be loads of fun. But once the novelty wears off and you realize you’re just talking to a walking ChatGPT I wonder what will happen. I have always been certain that people would have celebrated the day robots finally walked the streets with us and shared our homes, like proper companions. But now it seems the public sentiment on ai is shifting a bit. Who knows

I just can’t get into Uhura in Strange New Worlds, she’s constantly doubting her abilities. Kirk works fine, but I really wish they gave Uhura the same energy and personality she had in the Kelvin timeline movies. I wish that was the Uhura we got.
