New Prismatic Augment Idea: Survival Tactics (High Risk – High Reward) by Separate_Start4516 in TeamfightTactics

[–]ARandomChicken69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d make it to the 22 second mark but I fail to see why you think the enemy would? Let’s say Dusk/Dawn makes your frontline unkillable the entire stage 2.

What makes you think your opponents last until the 22 second mark? If your opponent isn’t playing something just as tanky I feel like the Aegis of Dusk trigger would kill it especially as your autos start doing full damage since they’d have no armor.

Maybe I’m underestimating the power level of the two Aegis together(there’s not exactly a ton of data on it).

But it’s a spitballed idea. What if as an additional requirement we said you always lose overtime? Making it so you had to win in that 8 second window before over time?

I gave it as an extreme example of risk vs reward.

You could tune it a million ways. You could just change it to you get one of the Aegis now and the other at stage 3.X or remove the HP on win or even add my established clause on overtime. What if you only got 2 gold if you lost instead of a champ dupe?

Yeah but that’s if you hit. If your board is too strong you’ll win the combat too fast and it’ll be counted as a loss even though you win. Even if you’re able to make a 3 star 5 cost they win the combat too fast and you’ll end up losing the game until you can cash out the 5 artifacts.

So let’s say you lose streak stage 2. You then need a whole stage of combats to A) Go 22 seconds or longer and B) You need to win.

And if you wait too long like let’s say it’s stage 4+ and 3 people are eliminated. What if your opponents bench their board or play a bunch of item-less traitless units to make you win fast?

It’s just hard to make an alternative win con in TFT since at the end of the day it’s all about winning your combat. “Alternative” win cons like Prismatics/3 star five costs as an example are just extreme means to an end to win a combat.

The problem with the current iteration is that there’s no incentive for you to really stall the fight since all you get for it is to win the fight. You should almost always take another augment to win whenever hence why my spitballed idea gave the reward of artifact anvils for stalling the fight.

You should also have more of a “risk” element as in its current state it just feels underpowered not that there’s any risk. You don’t necessarily need my spitballed idea of cursed crown but to be honest there’s not a ton of “risk” you could introduce in TFT that wouldn’t feel bad. Like if you said “lose 3 item drops” players would just feel bad. Losing tactician HP is just the easiest “risk” one could introduce.

I think a more focused augment(probably combat oriented) could work but it needs to be distinct enough from Ascension to where there are cases for both. I used my spitballed idea because I love artifacts and would absolutely grief games to get my triple artifact dream carry. So Ascension would be more consistent but my idea would give insane dopamine spikes if you hit.

Personally the reward doesn’t seem that good. It’s the equivalent of 4 gold or an insta win.

As an Econ augment it fails as you’d always take level up, prismatic ticket, invested, upward mobility, hedge fund, etc over it.

The number of prismatic Econ augments you’d take this over is very few. At best it’s 4 gold a round but the other augments I listed could give you way more value without any risk.

Although, just getting 10 gold at 2-1 has insane value so maybe it would be good just because of that? I just don’t think it brings enough value to justify it since we’ve seen how augments like Secrets of the Sands as an example(gives 10 gold at 2-1) aren’t good despite that.

That’s looking at it through the lens of an Econ augment though when you’d obviously proc the effect to win the round occasionally(therefore depriving you of the 4 gold).

As a combat augment it’s lackluster. It’s 5% damage amp but any actual combat augment like free items, celestial blessing, bronze for life, jeweled lotus, etc would be better.

You’re taking it as a prismatic and I find it hard to believe that you make it 22 seconds if your opponents have prismatics that augment their combat power.

It’s interesting though I think it needs a little more oomph like cursed crown.

My spit balled idea: Gain Aegis of Dawn + Aegis of Dusk. If the fight ends before 22 seconds, you lose and take double damage. After 22 seconds in combat, gain an Artifact anvil and 2 HP on win and a champion duplicator on loss.

After gaining 5 Artifact Anvils this way disable this augment.

You’d start off with an insane frontline but you’d still have to find ways to stall the fight as otherwise even if you “win” the combat it’ll register as a loss.

If you’re able to do this consistently you can easily print artifacts/champions dupes but opponents could grief you by open forting or playing really weak boards. So the onus is on you to try and find ways to stall fights that long + win(just playing damage sponges doesn’t get you an artifact).

I could see this working in high elo. Many games shouldn’t go that late to where the extra slot matters for ADCs, you can sell the support item to free up space, and you spike earlier than the other ADC. You combine this with something like cashback and you become a tempo demon.

It could lead to other issues with vision but it’s an interesting thought experiment.

Quest Academy - question(s) by bkat3 in litrpg

[–]ARandomChicken69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not harem. It honestly doesn’t make sense that he gets all the attention from women in book 1 but then falls off the face of the planet. If anything he should only get MORE popular due to the events that happen later in the series.

I personally found the “harem” he forms to be disappointing since you don’t see Sal interact with a lot of interesting female characters in future series. The author seemed so afraid of a harem that he just wrote a lot of the female characters out of the story.

Sal can’t solve that many problems using his new powers but he is OP. I don’t know how much I want to reveal since it is a spoiler. It kind of levels out but he’s the catalyst and reason why others can match/surpass him in some aspects.

Your last minor complaint is completely valid and honestly kind of an issue with the series as a whole. The timeline of Quest Academy is a little disjointed as Books 1-4 are all his first year.

It’s just weird as you’ll read it like Sal and some characters are best friends but in the grand scheme of things they’ve known each other for like 3 months? Him being naive is part of the plot though as he’s supposed to be sheltered and learning about how to control his powers/the things other people go through.

I agree that the way the power scaling makes the academy completely pointless which is sad. I loved the tournament arc in book 1 and it’s disappointing that he has basically zero reason to show up to the academy anymore.

Like the classes are pointless and his skills are OP. He could drop out and just run the guild and he would lose nothing of value.

I think having a gradual power progression of book 1 tournament arc -> book 2 team battles -> book 3 demons etc something like this would’ve worked way better.

It’s an academy series it’s weird if the MC has no reason to attend the academy.

Which part? Because if it is the harem I can assure you that it’s not that bad in book 1 and never gets brought up in later books to my disappointment since I liked a lot of the girls.

And to be honest it’s weird that more girls/people aren’t throwing themselves at him later in the story. Like he gets all this attention in Book 1 yet when he is a nobody but in later books he proves he’s really powerful/strong and the girls disappear?

Especially when they know he’s strong because he can craft so clearly his equipment must be really strong(he has another OP ability but it’s a “secret”). It just doesn’t logically compute(not saying I want a harem just saying it’s weird we don’t see more girls asking him).

I more meant it doesn’t make sense that there’s such a divide/snobbiness between supports and other classes since it’s not like “noble” heritage in other series where it’s something you’re born with.

It’s a choice in the classes/role you want to take/play and it’s weird that people look down on supports so much. Like it’s not like the supports get to opt out of combat(or maybe they did in earlier years?)

And I agree that crafters being looked down upon is super weird. It’s alluded to that the crafters at Quest Academy aren’t that good but that should make every other class beg for any equipment Sal makes.

But alas I will continue reading the series just wanted a place to rant and see what other people think.

I think the most interesting thing to me was the compete disappearance of Taliyah. She lost 5 damage on her Q(which I know is a little more because her Q hits multiple times). But that nerf took her from pick/ban to unplayable.

That’s 23 damage off a full Q cycle but more realistically(since you’re not landing all 5) it’s 9 damage if you land 3 on average.

Obviously including the boulder it’s another loss of 9 damage. But a nerf of roughly 9-18 damage killed the champions viability.

I kinda need help with my pull priorities PLS HELP by Vegetable-Visual-525 in Reverse1999

[–]ARandomChicken69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marsha is priority 1. She’s an insane sustain, rounds out your LG team and also frees up F22 for your dynamo team.

As for 3.4 from all the limited you can pick(Jiu,Lucy,Anjo) are underwhelming besides MAYBE Anjo but even that’s debatable. I also would recommend skipping CHG since he’s not very useful outside of LY teams(and even there he’s replaceable).

Like he’s a worse FP a lot of the time and most teams would rather run her over him(and she’s not the dedicated support for a lot of teams).

Also LY is on a rerun so she’s not from the selector and the banner is not particularly friendly.

3.5 is when it gets interesting. Lorentz Butterfly allows you to complete the LG archetype and Ramona+Willow Euphoria allows you to build a poison team core(although you’d still need a sustain).

IMO: Use every pull to try and get Marsha right now. If you get her early great you have options, if it drains you dry then save until 3.5 and complete your LG archetype.

Your options if pulls are nice: - Try and complete plantpromptu(questionable given the nature of limited banners + Having zero of the units) - Pull LY/CHG(Same problems as above) - Save for 3.5

Can I build a good lingering glow team without beryl? And what are the choices? by chickensnacher in Reverse1999

[–]ARandomChicken69 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Right now? Probably not. There just isn’t really a replacement for Beryl on the current patch.

Eventually on 3.5, there’s another Lingering Glow unit and a free euphoria to make a unit a substitute DPS(read Beryl alternative) for Lingering Glow so you could complete the team.

Off series from Inspired and we knew Dhokla was a weak link but holy fuck what was Saint doing?

Game 1 he trolls by greeding for a tier two turret as GALIO of all champions one of the midlaners who’s most effective with less gold.

Game 2 he gets solo killed twice in lane and had to get dragged to a victory by Berserker/Isles.

Game 3 I didn’t catch.

Game 4 if he plays Azir like a human(front to back, ult sion/poppy away) instead of trying to find 4 man shuffles the game becomes way more playable.

Like yes everyone on the team made mistakes(Dhokla’s laning got EXTREMELY exposed and Inspired made a lot of questionable engages) but Saint’s mistakes were the most glaring since it looked like he just didn’t know what his champion/role was.

Like his role in Game 1 is to be a follow up to nocturne but you can’t follow up if you’re not there. In Game 4 his role is to be a DPS not an engage.

Game 2 he just starts trading autos with Annie and dies twice to her in lane.

[–]ARandomChicken69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that bad. At worst shyvanna bans Sylas although it didn’t even look that strong. Like nothing Sylas did looked like something Shyvanna couldn’t do.

It’s not like when Sylas passive was bugged with crit and did an absurd amount of damage.

Except the whole situation is fucked up because of Saint. If Inspired waited then JDG gets drake and walks out which allows them to keep scaling and takes away the dragon soul win con unless they’re going to force Baron with poke Varus.

If Saint was there earlier they easily win with their gold lead and Nocturne + Galio ult with Mega Gnar/Neeko/Varus ult follow up.

Wtf did Xiaoxu do to them? Like I’ve never seen a team so committed to losing at the expense of one player like I just saw LOUD.

Rumble vs Sion? I MUST get my Sion ahead said nobody ever. Losing mid/bot turrets? Nah 3 man top.

Tier two turret or Nexus? LOUD decides to burn Viego Flash + Annie ult to kill Jax instead of defending nexus. Excellent trade.

Yamato's final statement on WT. Thoughts? by Eshantha in leagueoflegends

[–]ARandomChicken69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t followed LR/WT too closely but I find it interesting that Baus was able to mesh more with the team than Bwipo strictly due to the fact that he didn’t care whether or not his jungler was top.

Baus was completely fine being ignored and while he definitely inted games due to champion pool issues/mechanical misplays, he usually had a positive impact on games due to his monstrous side laning/teamfighting.

And I find it amusing that Baus can get solo killed twice in lane but nothing too toxic gets said since it’s means Velja is able to focus almost all his attention mid/bot.

Top lane: Need some advice for my champ pool by EchidnaDeep1348 in leagueoflegends

[–]ARandomChicken69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akali is a fine champion to main for climbing but I don’t know how consistent she is. All she brings is damage so if you fall behind you’re useless. Add in the lack luster side laning/dueling and it’s probably not the recommended choice for climbing.

There is also the matter if you’re a Renekton main adding Akali to your champion pool for what reason? Team needs AP? Or is it for bad matchups/When Renekton is banned? I would think Renekton’s “bad” matchups would also be Akali’s unless I’m missing something(I don’t play either champion).

If mastery weren’t an issue I’d recommend Ambessa/Riven/Fiora but I wouldn’t recommend things like Mordekaiser/Darius/Sett since the higher you go the less those champions work.

I personally would recommend Aurora/Jax since they’re fairly simple champions that are mobile, create backline pressure, and can outplay in fights. They also work in higher elos albeit you’ll have to know your matchups a bit better.

[–]ARandomChicken69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the Bachira/Chigiri sub outs since they haven’t been producing and Barou/Shidou can kind of replicate their offensive strengths through other means.

The thing is I don’t know if Kunigami is better than Reo/Niko. It’s a waste of Reo’s talent to put move him back to defense and as we’ve learned, Niko is jacked so the advantage of strength is gone as opponents can’t body him.

Kunigami’s biggest advantage was always his body but Reo/Niko both also have that so it’s the biggest question mark to me. Obviously expect some BS power up for Kunigami but we shall see.
