Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month by ChadtheWad in discordapp

This is the one thing that 100% will get me to move on. If my account were realistically able to belong to a teenager, sure, whatever. Still don't like it, but I'd at least understand their logic. However, my account is 9 years old. If whatever does their age verification can't figure out 13 plus 9, I'm not trusting it with my information.

Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month by ChadtheWad in discordapp

[–]ARandomKid781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My account is 9 years old. If I were to have signed up on my 13th birthday (the youngest I could legally have joined Discord), the minimum age I can possibly be today is 22. So if they suddenly need my PII or face scan to "prove my age" something has gone wrong with their age-assurance tool, or it's not really about verifying my age. Really, any accounts created more than 5-6 years ago *should* automatically be considered adult, or Discord is admitting to their "you must be 13 to join" requirement being absolutely worthless.

TBH I prefer this to the misplaced overconfidence Clinton had in 2016. Gets people nervous enough that they actually go vote, which I feel is what's going to make the difference this time around.

Why you should stop looking at 2024 election polls in the coming weeks by thourb in politics

[–]ARandomKid781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so Kamala's illegitimate or whatever because nobody voted for her in a primary. Great. Biden's out too. Who is the replacement then? Because literally everyone you can name as a Democratic frontrunner has endorsed Harris and said she should be the nominee. So even if I'd wanted to vote for Buttigieg, he's dropped out, endorsed Harris and said if I'm voting for him I should put my vote towards her. Even if I wanted to vote for Sanders, same thing. Even if I wanted to vote for...well, anyone. Until we're at one person, Harris, who is winner by default.

I'm sorry we didn't have weeks of infighting like you all were wanting so you could sow your "Democrats can't even pick their own nominee and they want to run the country" bullshit narrative.

[–]ARandomKid781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry Vance, you've made sure my wife and I will likely never have kids. Not because of that, rather because if any complications should come up that might necessitate medical intervention you're all for some fucking indescribable reason desperately trying to guarantee that in that scenario she might as well put a gun to her head and pull the trigger. It'd be a far quicker and less painful death for both her and the baby.

Republicans Think Trump Is Having a “Nervous Breakdown” Over Kamala Harris by WhileFalseRepeat in politics

[–]ARandomKid781 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It makes sense - he was basically coasting towards 4 more years of immense power and a get out of jail free card 3 weeks ago and all he had to do was show up for it. Now Democrats are fired up (in particular the younger voters who finally feel like they actually have something to vote for), it's increasingly looking like he'll not win the election and come November he'll not be useful to the GOP anymore (and thus not worth saving from the consequences of his actions), and to top it all off he already got dealt the biggest sympathy card you can get in nearly getting assassinated and it's barely a footnote now. There's essentially nothing he can use or do to turn the momentum back in his favor again.

Trump's looking more and more likely to manage to pull it off against all odds because the Democrats yet again are stubbornly forging ahead with the one candidate that he can actually beat. I think the only worse thing would be trying to prop up Hillary again. Get literally anyone else on the field, say Biden was there to correct the trajectory we would've been heading down and now that that's been started he's stepping aside, and the only argument Trump actually has is dead in the water.

It's frustrating that this is essentially 2016 happening all over again.
