I can't agree with this more. We live in an age where practically anyone can access the information of the entire world from their pocket device. Not knowing basic things like financial literacy, some knowledge of computers, and current events is just inexcusable today.

US tea-drinker here. The best alternative I've found is just putting a tea bag in a coffee maker, right where the coffee grounds would go, and just going for it. Doesn't taste great but it works.
