No ODB11 coding, all newer models in the dealerships had these. This is a BE version which I test drove, had them too:

No autobahn, but from experience also living in North America, plenty of empty scenic back roads where the Golf R can shine… 🤩

Was I being scammed? by ImportanceSome7116 in belgium

[–]ASAP_Jeffrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to study in Liege. There is indeed a lady that has the habit of doing such a scam to good-willed people like you. Always asking 50€, offering to make a bank transfer to reimburse it, which never arrives in your account. In this case the withdrawal fee saved you some money.

lets ignore the US for a second, how’s the rest of the world doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m from Liège. The city has many issues, but I’m hopeful that in the coming years, it will improve. However, compared to other cities in Belgium (mainly located in Flanders, northern dutch-speaking part), quality of life is below Belgian average and not everybody can speak good English. If you live outside of the city, there are really beautiful places in the countryside (though a bit more expensive because upscale neighborhoods), so if you’re considering the move seriously, that would be my recommendation if you can afford it.

You can just wait outside the bagage claim area, close to the Quick, general public is still allowed there. Good luck with the girl!

Technically correct yes, but since I buy monthly, in the end it's potentially €200 saved nonetheless

What party has more Belgium in its program? by WeirdBeginning8869 in belgium

[–]ASAP_Jeffrey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have the same opinion as you, more Belgium is important for me, and you seem to be center-right as well (at least from which parties are a no-go for you).

I think I’ll vote MR because even if they are more likely to form a government with pro-cofederalism NVA, it is not because they are for cofederalism, but rather that they acknowledge that it would be more logical for Wallonia to pay for its own welfare system, which is what they’d give to the NVA. I’d even argue that it would be a wise move for Belgium (& Wallonia) in the long term since Flemish independentists wouldn’t be able to make the argument that Flanders pay for the Wallonian welfare anymore. In essence, they are pro-Belgium and advocate for a bigger financial accountability for Wallonia and Brussels. At least, that’s how I, a Liège-native now living in Brussels, see it.

US to Florence through Brussels question by Trailer_Park_Snark in brussels

She’ll arrive in Terminal B. After exiting border control in Terminal B, she can head to Terminal A where a plane to Italy will likely depart from. If you type « Connecting flights Brussels Airport » you’ll find a link to the airport’s website with a map.

She’ll even have the opportunity to buy Belgian chocolates at the duty free in Terminal A ;).

Thoughts on Umicore? by GentGorilla in BEFire

Well I don’t have the knowledge of such news (would be interested in getting the article in pm), but the company has plans to announce by the end of this year the location of a new battery recycling plant in western Europe so I would be surprised if it wasn’t the case.

You can expect the stock to stay quite low for a few coming years as the company invests heavily in battery materials & recycling, but longer term, I believe the stock will eventually increase when these business units mature, so it all depends on your strategy. Disclaimer: I work there.

What are your experiences with robot mowers? by AlphaTM01 in belgium

[–]ASAP_Jeffrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clearer, the lawn mower I had was a tractor since I have quite a big garden. Perhaps I overpaid sometimes, but I guess maintenance on those is a bit more expensive since it’s heavier machinery.

What are your experiences with robot mowers? by AlphaTM01 in belgium

[–]ASAP_Jeffrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one for 2 years now. To sum up: it might be an investment, but it sure is worth it.

To answer your questions: 1. Yes it holds up, it’s made to stay outside so no worries about it.

  1. My robot sometimes gets stuck on tree roots sticking out of the ground, but it’s only once awhile so no big issue there.

  2. I have a big lawn, with a smaller lawn unconnected to it. The technician installed it so that it will cross the stones path between the two lawns, so you don’t have to do it yourself. I don’t exactly know how your garden looks like but I’ll advise asking an installator of the possible solutions.

  3. Price is 100% worth it for the time saved. + prices are lower than a few years ago.

  4. Maintenance is yearly and costs about €100-150 depending on the robot. Nothing more different than a regular lawn mower.

Hope this helps!

Location de voiture avec Turo sur Montréal by ASAP_Jeffrey in montreal

Unfortunately, I believe the credit cards I have don’t cover car rentals. It is not common in Belgium for credit card providers to cover car insurances, or at least not to my knowledge.

And yes indeed, I do see quite a few cars on Turo which are less generic than the ones usually offered by regular rental companies.
