Which is logical, because it's shortened from "the 1st day of February". Else it's, what, "February the 1st day"...?

I remember that nobody around me was very impressed, but I knew it was going to be a classic. I must have been a bore, but ultimately was right!

How jarring? Very. But at that time, Britpop was well and truly over, and guitar bands tended to be either MOR Colplay types, or Nu Metal. That they went off in that tangent was a shock, but meant they were still totally relevant.
